    Those of us who grew up through the 70's and early 80's recognize that sound effect when he sings "digital" in the outro. That's the Coleco, hand held LED, football game. We immediately knew it when this song was released on radio in 79.

Real music is not modern stuff.. for music to be real Singers actually sing and musicians actually pick up an instrument and try to master playing it!

    1979 was a great year in music SuperTramp Breakfast In America was the #1 selling album in the US, followed by Donna Summer Bad Girls and the Dobbie Brothers Minute by Minute. We also had Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Damn the Torpedoes and Pat Benatar's In The Heat of the Night.

    • @therealEmpyre
      @therealEmpyre 2 года назад

      I agree about 1979. In addition to what you listed, ELO also released a good album that year, Discovery (not their best, but good). I remember enjoying some Blondie songs, Reunited by Peaches and Herb, Sad Eyes by I-don't-remember-who, Cars by Gary Newman, but The Logical Song was my favorite that year. Didn't Cold as Ice by Journey also come out in 1979? I like that song, too.
      And then the next year, the number one song was Bettie Davis Eyes. Really? Why? I was never very fond of that song.

I've been watching Chod, {Lord, thought it was Todd for a year and a half}.! *NOT ONLY* do I think you two doing this is the way to go, AND Chod is less technical and more feeling based because of Dee, but I've ALWAYS loved the long format you do bro.! No pausing or interruptions, just...... letting the music breathe and allowing everyone to absorb it as it was *FIRST* sent out, all the way thru.! Just as I was blessed to hear it that way.! Bless you two, Bakersfield's finest.! Love you guys *David* .....

      Good comment, David! I remember when we'd bring those albums home... the last thing we did was stop the song in the middle of play just to comment on it. Sure, there was talk galore among friends and family afterwards, but definitely no stopping the tune while playing it for the first few times through. We'd listen to the entire album all the way through-- the only interruption was the flip from A side to B side.

    Great choice for introducing Dee to, Chod!
    It’s still great to hear your thoughts on new songs, and even on a song you might be hearing for the second time on the Channel. May I respectfully suggest that when Dee is hearing something for the first time that you try to give her a little more commentary space. I know she might not have the same musical background so may not have the right vocabulary to express a given idea, but on a few of the vids your excitement to discuss the songs can seem to push her ideas slightly to the side. I completely get that, because I do the same thing, and I only realise after. I think if you watch a few of your combined discussions after songs you’ll see what I mean.
    And Dee might not have the musical grounding to know exactly express a particular thought, but as she showed here with the roller skating waitress observation, she’s got an intuition on the music that seems quite valuable.
    It’s possible that she’d be a great music talent scout, or radio programmer, since she seems to pick up on a more subliminal level of the music as demonstrated on a couple of the vids.
    It’s great having both your solo and combined reactions; they’re quite different from each other.
    The Dee vids also get the bonus of ‘What hairstyle will Dee have today?” You don’t mix it up so much on the hairstyles. 😂

    The first time I heard this song was in high school during English class.

    The students had to fill in the missing words while listening to the song.

    Thanks, guys! this was my first introduction to Supertramp - I also really like "School" - and "Rudy" this band has some chops - and a great balance between instruments and vocals -- another fantastic band that shows that balance is "Squeeze" -- you may know the song "Tempted" - but there are many other great ones.. I would request that if you have time & inclination - listen to Squeeze -- lyrics and music... ruclips.net/video/RQciegmLPAo/видео.html
