Tool is undoubtedly the best band ever. Each and every musician in the band is incredibly professional. Each and every song has deep lyrical meaning and complex meters unlike the usual money grab music about a girl.

Only discovered Tool in the last 5 years, and going back into their back catalogue has been a revelation. I totally agree with you in that if you are a fan of music then Tool is a natural path to take. Their musicianship is second to none, and oh yeah it helps to have quite possibly the greatest drummer that ever lived.

Before Tempest I didn't think this was possible. Sound itself can translate emotion and meaning even without words. Beautiful doesn't describe it.

This track makes people speechless. I’m told they play this song in 21 plus lyrical genius. Oh and it goes for 15 minutes and it felt like 5 minutes. 🤘🏻🌀

I think they are the best band in the human history, all four men are masters of their trade, and their music is made to make you think about yourself in the world you live in. I’ve been listening to them since 1993 and you will enjoy everything in their small collection. That is my only complaint about tool is there discography is so limited.

I totally agree with a ton of the comments below, mostly that 57 year old. I'm 49 turning 50 soon and I know there's a good chance that I'll never hear another band as creative and deep as TOOL. I was fortunate enough to have met the entire band at small venue in Jacksonville NC in 1992. Their music changed my world back then and continues to do so today. They are the Pink Floyd of today. This song keeps punching you in the face so you try to cover your face but then it's stabbing you in the throat so you curl up into a ball and it just starts pounding you all over, then suddenly you're, like, "Wait...I...LOVE THIS," and then you just let it beat the shit outta you for 15 more minutes.
Check out in the very beginning how the drums play a melody over the guitar and a few bars later they trade the timing off. Shits wild man

If you love this, you'll absolutely LOVE Descending by Tool. It's a bit softer but very dramatic, more melodic. It's a true masterpiece.

You have to do Descending off this album, it's my fave Tool song! The lyrics are succinct but deep, the music is fire and like you said, this particular song could be the theme of a hit sci fi movie, it has such a vibe. I would love to see you react to it!
This song always amps me up like I'm about to slay some man eating titans (probably would get eaten first round, no doubt... But I'd die with valor in my heart listening to this shit god damnit). Seriously, if you listen in a particular alerted state, you'll feel floaty and tingly. Tool some voodoo witchcraft shit, in all the best ways, for the good of humanity type of way I guess. Maynard admitted pretty early on and expressly that he sold his soul to make a record, maybe to be an excellent musician. Who knows, too high and numb to be sensible.

I have watched all the TOOL reactions of yours up until this one and I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about how this one would go. Its a lot in every way imaginable. Its all over the place and such a long song, its very easy to lose yourself along the way.

The "off beat" you were getting is because the intro (and, I think, the outro) is in 9/8 time. That gives you that extra eighth note that you're not used to in standard 4/4 time. However, that time signature is not the same throughout the song. I haven't fully analysed it, but most of the song is in 8/8, which is similar to 4/4. They kinda maintain the 9/8 feel with syncopated accents, which is one of their trademarks. 👍🏽😁

30+ year fan of Tool. No other band compares, they are the best band of my lifetime. #Toolforever (my opinion about this song is that it is political towards a particular person but that's just my opinion).

I listened to Tool exclusively for 7 days straight, and to be honest, all other music seemed lacking, I’m a huge audiophile and Tool is next next next level, same as Pink Floyd imho.
While there is some music that I enjoy more than Tool, they have by far the most universal appeal out of any band I enjoy as much as I do them. God-tier band without a doubt.

I think it's time you do Intension and Right in Two together, no pauses in-between. This will give you a real taste of just how introspective and truly masterful they are. Once you do this I'd say start at the beginning and go thru their entire discography, seriously, could be life changing..

Tool is an outright spiritual experience. Just sucks waiting forever between albums. And i have never heard another band that their music keeps taking on another life when i revisit it. Unlike anything else out there.

This was top of the list? Interesting 🤔 They did win their latest Grammy for this, but most probably wouldn't have it their top 10. Great song but they are ALL GREAT. Not even the best song on this album. Probably 3rd on the album.
