Check out Sweat by Tool. It's 1st on their 1st album cos Tools are worthless without Sweat. It's short, but really sweet, and it hints at everything they've grown into.
Also, Wheel is a band formed by a bunch of guys who love Tool. They're very similar, but still unique. Farewell is their best song, imo. Definitely worth a listen

When you ask "Danny what are you doing"? at ~ 17:50 on the video (~10:30 on the actual track), he's hitting a closed high hat cymbal. You can see this on some of the live Tool videos on youtube.

I you had held a gun to my head and asked me how much time elapsed during the song, I would have sworn on my life it was 5 minutes. They somehow erased 10 minutes from my life. This song gave me almost as much joy as Wings for Marie in terms of Maynard’s growth. He used to be so bitter, even towards his mother. He always saw the flaws, and knew how to point the finger. Amazing artist. He vehemently opened himself up to his “shadow” and vulnerably became an outlet. The problem with that, channeling anger, resentment, fear… you become a slave to it. Maynard however was able to spiritually discern Lucy, and channel his anger against the evil one, in a just way.

That’s is an incredibly well constructed comment; concise and insightful. If you aren’t already a writer, you should start.

Finally, a reactor who has the presence of mind to JUST listen to the song only for a first time listen. Not watching a video and getting distracted, not trying to impress anyone by analyzing the lyrics. Just here for the music at first. Do the other stuff later. Top tier.

Having now listened to this song dozens of times, it still makes me quite happy to see another face contorting while taking it all in. Well done!
At the 15:26 part of this video, towards the end of the long section of heavy, roiling bass and drums, Danny hits the ride cymbal and lightens the whole mood. Such a fantastic bit of composition, and one of my favorite pieces of music by Tool.

Tool army loves you right back, mate! Invincible next, then Descending, which is even another level of ridiculous above the already inhuman greatness of Tool. Cheers!!

A virtual cornucopia of sounds. I agree; the intro is genius, as if TOOL composed a track for a music box!! ❤ from MN!
