👍 Again, Ash! So great to see the 'white tailed eagles' again, and loved all the the stills. In spite of the difficult conditions, weather and human, you did a fantastic job & pulled another great video out of the bag! 👏👏👏
The other passers by were obviiysly interested in the wildlife, a good thing but lacked knowledge. They were there learning about and enjoying their surroundings, and the proximity of the otters to the road may be why their presence is noted in that location. I suspect that for the experts, it may require a lot of patient research off the beaten track to be able to spend time with them. An enjoyable and realistic video in any case. Thanks for posting.
Hi Mike, thanks for the comment, I use the 100-500mm rf lens, which is my workhorse and does everything i need it to, if they did 100mm-600 that would be better but need to go to sigma for that.
I wonder how that couple would like it if they were sat in a restaurant and you encroached with a mobile phone…. No common sense some people… Good video, great to see the White tails.. 👍
Yeh everyone loves and wants to see the otters I get it, but there is a way to do it, if you do not have the gear then just watch, keep still and quiet and enjoy, don't try to get up close with your phone it's just not going to happen, and they spoil it for everyone, Yeh great weekend amazing what you can pack into a couple of days. 😀👍
Hi Ashley :) awesome video mate. I was just wondering whether you found it best to drive along the coast trying to spot otters and then sneaking up to a good location or did you find it was better to just sit down and wait in one spot and hope for the best?
Great video with some lovely otter footage. Was this filmed in June? I’m going to Kilchoan in Ardnamurchan tomorrow (it’s the other side of the Sound of Mull. Ferry from Tobermory to Kilchoan takes 35 minutes). I’m no photographer but I’ll be doing the 5am shift every morning to look for otters etc. before the kids get going 🤣Wildlife and scenery in Ardnamurchan is magnificent if you’re looking for somewhere a little quieter on the tourist front. Can I ask, were the midges terrible this year?
Hi Ian thanks for the comment yes this was filmed actually last weekend, the midges were not that bad although it was quite windy only one evening was it really bad with the midges. but we had smidge and the smidge headnets, not a great look but does the job. thanks for the heades up on Ardnamurchan I will give it a look. 😀👍
The problem with Mull is the proximity of many of the roads to the shoreline and the cyclists, for example, had every right to be there doing what they did. My own "scream out:" moment came on the shore of Loch Na Keal a few years ago when a friend and I had lain behind cover at a known hot spot for a couple of hours hoping for an otter to show. A mother and kit did eventually put in an appearance only for one of the children in a nearby family group to yell at the top of their voice "daddy, is that an otter?" . It was an otter but it's long gone now !! You just have to accept they they were doing their own thing and had as much right as us photographers to do ours..
This guy should work for bbc earth, keep this good work up!

Lovely video Ashley; considering what you had to contend with from the weather and the general public. Don’t you just love em ?

Here’s hoping we’re as fortunate with the weather as you were 🤞😁 Sanna Bay is a good place to start if your looking At Ardnamurchan 👍 It’s fantastic
Another great video….shame about the idiots scaring the wildlife. People can be so bloody irritating and thoughtless can’t they….
