Thanks very much for watching, really appreciate it🙏. They are amazing aren’t they, and such detail & character… could of stayed longer. Hope you get to go one day, all the best R 👍
Great film Richard. The 4k footage is superb, what a great trip. Bet you wish you had more than 4 hrs!!! Putting this trip on my list of 'must do's'. 👍🎥👀📷👌
Thanks very much mate, yes more times and an overnight session would awesome, having the morning & evening light would be so much better, still I’ll do that next time. Do it mate, you’ll not regret it. All the best R 👍
Thanks Trond, it was a magical day as it’s the first time I’ve photographed them, hard in the heat of the day but early morning & sunset would have been perfect! Maybe next time🙏🤞🏻. Thanks again my friend 👍R
The Puffin, luvem I have Skoma island (wales) on my bucket list, hoping to do an overnight visit so I can see the Manx shearwaters, also in with a slim chance of short eared owls... lovley bit of video plus some Stunning images of the Puffins and razorbills.
Hi Mike, thanks very much, that sounds awesome, I’m hoping to do the same next year, but closer too… if there’s a shortie I’m sure to go, lol.. thanks again my friend 👍
If you need to scratch that Puffin itch again try Skommer in Wales much closer to you but still long drive. If you get organised you can book accomodation on the island. Great video Richard.
Thanks very much, I think that’s certainly on the list for next year, I’ve heard really good reports and seen some great images from there, have you been? Will try and book for next year. Thanks very much R 👍
@@RichardBirchett yep, stayed on the island a few times it’s definitely a place I will keep on going back to. Happy to pass on what knowledge I have if you decided to go.
Hi Richard wow what a fantastic place to go, the puffins have such a charming character you certainly had a fabulous 4 hours on the island, the photos were amazing, I think the video was truly outstanding but the Puffins stole the show 😂,very lucky with the weather was there many people visiting the island that day?,thank you for taking the time sharing your videos and photos.Martyn
Hi Martyn, truly magical place to go with constant action, 4 hrs flew by! Well said, the subject is always the star of the show in my mind, lol.. on the boat i was on there were roughly 16, when we arrived the same we’re leaving, plus about 20 others on there. As always my pleasure, until next time. R 👍
Amazing video and I love the footage of Puffins ,Razonbill.Shag and Guillemot. Look forward to my 4 hours trip on Isle of Langa on the Treshnish Isle in June. I like to take a photo of the birds when they make a poop.
Hi Irene, thanks for watching. It's such a special place with so many birds, lets hope they have faired well after the bird flu issues over the last year or so! Have a great Trip, I'd love to go back but this year it's not to be.. cheers Richard👍
Hi Scott, it was my first time and it was so special watching them up close, the beautiful details in both birds were amazing. Thanks for watching. All the best Richard 👍
Puffins they are so strange to look at, but cute ,and they made me smile just watching them waddle around ,a bit like penguins do! An amazing island with so many birds that were not bothered by you being there .It was so relaxing just watching them do their own thing. Great vlog.Alison.🥰
Thanks Alison, they are so characterful and I have to say it rather cute, lol… very habituated to us humans which is kind of nice in someways as they rely on us to ward off predators like skuas and black back gulls. Not really use to birds excepting us that close apart from wildlife sanctuary’s but refreshing to know not everything is scared of us! Thanks again for watching 👍
Hi Janet, nice one, you won’t regret it! Amazing island which I could of stayed on for days to be honest, maybe next time! Thanks very much indeed, all the very best R 👍
For once that looked a bit easier to capture your subjects !! No camo needed !! Great to see ! What experience to be there ! Glad it was smelly tv !! Brilliant my friend 👍👍 🦌oh🦌
Cheers, it was nice to do things a bit different and an easier way to get results and spend time with those magnificent birds! Beautiful colours with so much detail.. smelly indeed, lol… all the best R 👍
Thanks Maurice, such a beautiful part of the country! It often happens like that, lol… keeps you on your toes so to speak. Great to have you following the channel. All the very best R 👍
Thanks Jeroen, great birds with so much character, lol… and the detail and colourful plumage was wonderful to photograph! And the sharp smart looking Razorbills were lovely to see up close. Cheers R 👍
@@RichardBirchett I had plans to go to Scotland this year for the puffins too. But that pandemic thing you now... Been to Isle of May so many times. Ah well, next year, I hope :)
Thanks Mark, heard Staffa is pretty good too.. I was really hoping to get the running Sandeel shot so glad it came together! Thanks very much for watching 👍
Another great vlog Richard. Love the puffins, they're such characters. I first saw & photographed them on Skomer Island in 2019, & went up to Bempton Cliffs in Yorkshire last month with my Dad & got him his first ever Puffin photos too. The Razorbill is a stunning bird too, & I love your shot of one with it's head skyward & the yellos throat showing. Fantastic stuff. All the best, Nick

@@RichardBirchett Hi again Richard. Could you advise me what agency you used to book this trip? Looking to get something sorted for myself in the next few weeks. Thanks.
Loved it-next time we’ll come and share the experience with you I hope-puffins are amazing little birds and you captures their characters beautifully xx
Absolutely wonderful video Rich, thank you so much for sharing. I especially liked the birds-in-flight shots (interesting to note your shutter speed of 1/3200s to really capture the shot and ensure it was pin sharp) and I also loved the black and white conversions too - that really worked well. The slow-mo video of the puffin early on was wonderful too. As a keen bird photographer, one of the shots on my bucket list is that of a puffin with a beak-full on sandeels - is there a best time of year to get this shot? Thanks again Rich - keep up the excellent work! Tom
Hi Tom, that’s great feedback so thanks very much indeed. It was rather high but the ISO was pretty good hence the conditions but a welcome speed to capture the action🙏👍. I like to use B&W from time to time as on some species it really does work quite well. The breeding season is certainly the best time as it’s constant action, although they don’t hang about due to other birds robbing the food. Thanks very much for watching. All the very best R 👍
I'm in Mull this August but I'll be missing the breeding season this year. However I have had lovely experiences on Lunga the past few summers for this very reason! Great video and lovely shots :)
I’m sure you’ll still have an awesome time watching the newly fledged birds out and about exploring their new world! I really hope you have an amazing time🤞🏻👍! Lunga was such a highlight of my trip, I shall be returning for sure. Thanks very much for watching. All the best R 👍
