  • Another example of, "I have no clue what this is." It's an Indian or Punjabi banjo called a Bubul Tarang. After it's repaired I will play it in a future video.

    It is a wonderful instrument from about the 1920 - 1930. As you have figured out it is a bulbul tarang of the older design , my brother had one int the 1960s. It would be nice to hear you play it. The sound is very similar to a mandolin. The modern electric ones with synthesizers is not even close in comparison with regards to the sound , too bad the don't make them anymore.
    Its missing the palm rest. It is just a round knob about 2.5 inches in diameter fixed on the right side of the hole, so you rest your palm on it to strum the strings, other than that it looks like it is in good condition As for the tuning notes i have no idea. Its from north india.
