I'm one of the people who wasn't really that fond of the girls themselves, but watched the show for Luke. I never connected with Lorelai and Rory. Lorelai and her constant jumping into Christopher's bed made me roll my eyes every time she did it and I felt Rory was coddled in a way that also made me roll my eyes (really? Cheating with a married man just because he was her first love? Seemed very symptomatic of Lorelai jumping into Christopher's bed all the time; i.e. lack of loyalty which isn't a good trait to pass down to your kids. Just my opinion.). Grumpy though he was, Luke was very authentic, very loving by the loyalty in his actions, very responsible and humorous. When it came to Luke and Lorelai allowing themselves to be physical with one another, I felt Scott's portrayal of the kiss on the porch was very honest in the way he both kissed and held her. Lorelai's had a fake, 30s/40s homage to it that not only signified an emotional wall, but felt like she was being dishonest with Luke. It's somewhat painful to watch when one character doesn't rise up to the level of intensity of the other. The other thing I really liked about Luke and Scott portraying him was it looked like he gave GREAT hugs! There was a scene when one of the Stars Hollows characters came back to visit at his diner and he gave her the greatest hug (can't remember if it was Miss Patty or the other woman who used to bring clothing choices to people and was supposed to have been a silent film star or something like that? I've looked all over Wikipedia and the web to find her face so I can figure out who played that character, but apparently I hallucinated it). Anyhow, when Luke gave her that hug it made me think about how much Luke's mother must have loved him (or whoever raised him). Pretty good when your portrayal of a character implies it's own story. Anyhow, thanks for doing this interview with Scott. I always love it when people from the same geographical area get together for interviews. :)
LORAN Gram does not know sex appeal if she didn’t have a crush on Scott Patterson. He was so hot and that appeal had to carry over to off stage appeal!
Scott also wasn't single. He was living with his then girlfriend, who is now his wife. He HAS said he found her attractive. She recently admitted to having dated "some of the other guys" on the show, and honestly, I'd have been disappointed in both Scott and Lauren if they'd carried on an affair while he was in a relationship. I have more respect for them not having dated, even though YES - their physical chemistry is undeniable. I think a lot of us fans would have wished they'd have hooked up in real life, and I'm sure that's why.
I watch the show for the Gilmore girls and Luke. AWESOME SHOW. 👌
