About this mod
East Indies Campaign
Is a new Standalone Map and Mod centering around the Dutch East Indies in early 1942
The Mod incorporates a number of new ships and a new map with two campaigns of the Dutch East Indies:
Allied Campaign - The ABDACOM Defensive.
Japanese Campaign - Centrifugal Offensive.
ABOUT THIS GAME
1942: The world is at war
The Japanese Empire expands throughout the Pacific where Allied forces attempt to halt its spread. A desperate struggle for control of the Solomon Islands is now underway.
How will you protect your transports as they deliver troops and supplies in the South Pacific? Will you deploy precious aircraft carriers to provide air cover? Do you screen the area with submarines? Or attempt to lure the enemy navy into a decisive surface engagement?
Major Features:
Real time naval combat
Theatrical external-view game play
Play as Allied Forces or Imperial Japan
Over 50 classes of playable ships
Dynamic campaign
Tactical control of aircraft (not a flight simulator)
Fight fires, counter flood compartments and repair ships
Sink ships using realistic buoyancy physics
Historical missions based on actual naval engagements
The Buffalo was an incredibly underrated aircraft. Its ability to merge with other Buffalo's in the exact same airspace was not commonly known before War on the Sea ;)
You handled that torpedo attack perfectly, what a shame about losing that destroyer!
Beware the legendary submarine O-19
YAAAS 🤩
the myth!! the legend!!
For skip bombing, you must get right down on the deck, maybe 60 ft, and release quite close to the target. It's very similar to a torpedo attack.
The problem with that is that AA fire tends to get more accurate, as the attacking aircraft get lower. It might be similar to a torpedo attack, but those aircraft can launch from a distance... this calls for getting far closer, which means that the AA of your target can (potentially) cross streams of AA fire with other ships. This might be a good kamikaze technique, because at 60ft above the target, you're unlikely to escape the rearward AA fire.
Dive down, onto the ship, and add your aircraft fuel to the bomb explosions.
@@VerilyVerbatim This is something I could see the Japanese actually doing, even at this early stage in the war, particularly against high-value targets like Prince of Wales (though I do think it would still be on a sporadic, aircraft-by-aircraft basis, not organized like later in the war).
New rule for all war ships: smoking in the powder room is now prohibited.
Taff. Highlighting that bug was great. As the AI plane under the water is still dropping bombs. It seems that so that the plane shot down has unlimited reloads of bombs when shot down..
Bombs ahoy, bombs away, bombs that turn into depth charges.
Hi Taff....yeah, that was my comment about the bug. I don`t have this particular campaign, but do have the ABDACOM one, and only found the bug happens when using Wildebeast. On one occasion, I sent out 10 of them, all 10 torps were dropped and all 10 hit 2 targeted ships, but in the mass confusion of ships swarming around, another 4 exploded for no reason, all approx. where the most of the planes crashed.
And it`s happened the 4 or so times I`ve played that campaign.
Can tell its a bug, by the weird way the ships just keep exploding.
Also, my suggestion of smoke screen.....don`t know if it actually helps or not, but the game is bloody hard enough as it is, and any advantage is needed.
Keep up the good vids...
You can mass your air power aswell. When they spot a target if you converge all aircraft into a single battle you can overwhelm them with everything you have sent up.
You send up your bombers in single and duel formations. As soon as the they spot converge all in a single attack.
When you send them on patrol to scout break them apart to cover large distances, but leave them room to converge.
So if max distance is 700 only send them to patrol 600.
If it is 600 then only do 500. Leaves 100km to converge
By now, it should be clear that this campaign will be a slow roll, making small increments of progress over time. This is good news, you can expect many episodes! You have made a good start, just be patient, and keep pushing forward.
@Taff in Exile
Since they seem subpar as bombers, you could try using the long range Helens as escorts for your task forces when they are beyond range of the Oscars; not as good as true fighters, but better than nothing, and potentially useful against enemy bombers, especially those pesky torpedo biplanes methinks 👍
As with all your work, am enjoying this series too...thanks for putting in the time 🙂👍
I'd put losing that destroyer was down to a rouge sea mine that broke free and happened to drift into the middle of your convoy
Jintsu was almost burned down near Java, IRL. If the IJN can repair her in a month, you're ahead.
War on the Seas is my favorite series to watch
I’m sorry you suffered another loss due to that bug, if anything you can say the random explosions and sinking of ships were due to enemy saboteurs (at least until the bug is fixed)
That makes more sense than what happened to the Japanese battleship Mutsu in real life. 😆
or mines :)
Unless it's a torpedo run I usually have more success attacking the target ship lengthwise in a "line ahead" formation from a medium altitude.
Just waiting for dinner to be ready. Perfect timing.
This series is great. Most of the time the AI is inept and its a one sided slaughter. Nice to see them put up a scrap.
It's like watching Star Wars, AI has endless planes and Capital ships. Taff is leading the Rebel Alliance, "Two fighters against a Star Destroyer"?
I wonder what's the Japanese version of "There seems to be something wrong with our bloody ships today" is.
As far as I know, you can have a mixed strike package. Try launching bombers, than torpedo planes and set them to escort the bombers so they arrive at the same time.
Way to thread that needle with those torpedos. lol
Thinking about this.... your primary objective was to take Singapore. Was there any stipulation that you had to take it 'immediately' - because, if not - taking the other bases (clockwise) around Malaya, then Borneo, and Sumatra may have been a better 'short range goal'. It may have given you far more resources.... and whilst Singapore was a major British 'base' at the time, the fact that you're taking the time to expand forces them to commit the same, over a very large area.
Essentially, you have would have been forcing them to fight on your terms, not theirs.
Oh, also, for skip bombing, I think you need to do it manually. As far as I can tell, the AI just treats it like normal bombing (which is why you sometimes see bombs drop over the ship and skip away past it).
Just finished the last one. Perfect timing
so, would you have some way of marking where those planes went down and avoid sailing over the top of them? its like each plane is equipped with emergency mines that deploy in the event of being shot down. interesting.
When the Destroyers sink due a bug
Me: Sabotage!
I think it’s called a herd of buffalo.
You don’t need to engage with your aircraft immediately, you can send one group, launch the next group as soon as possible, and have the first group wait until the second group gets in range before you click the attack button. That way you go into battle with multiple flights instead of sending them in piecemeal.
Taff, so glad you are continuing on youtube, but really missing you on Twitch. Any possibility on seeing you there in the near future? We are missing you.
Just wondering if it's possible to add fighter support to bomber strikes/formations and above ships because AA doesn't look like they are effective until they release their bombs and they seem quite good in finding them. I have never played this game btw and if possible, this change in tactic might help?
Honestly, while I enjoy this series a lot, it might be worth you putting a hold on it until/unless the bug with the explosions is fixed. It’s okay(ish) when it’s a destroyer gets sunk, but what about when it’s a transport full of troops or engineering, or an oil tanker, or, worse, a battleship?
I really wish there woulb be something like Atlantic Fleet, but in real time like this
You mean like 'Victory At Sea Atlantic'?
Was it a good idea to go after Sinagure 1st thogh? Probably should have invaded surounding bases 1st and build up airbases or bombarded to degrade airfields instead of running thogh a gauntlet of air atacks each run.
24:30 nice
25:00 sounds like a bad bug. Guess you can play it off as British planes acting as sea mines if they crash 💀💀💀
24:48 They scraped some barnacles off for ya!!! EDIT: BUG MY ASS Someone got a little carried away with Patriotism ( Im not saying thats a bad thing) in a MilSim. Its happened before. 😆😄
Can you deploy subs yet?
should be able to send mutiple flights up could in orig game hated this game to play
Any idea if they plan to release this on console?
Unlikely amigo
What a god awful bug🤬🤬🤬
A1's torpedo attacks are pathetic are its AA fire is a horrible.
That's really annoying that you are losing your precious ships to such bullshit bugs
DO A GOD DAMN CAREER ON FLYING CIRCUS VOL 2 ALREADY!
Do one yourself. Putz.
