In this video, I show you how you can use an Xbox 360 controller to play games on your Android phone. All you have to do is get yourself an OTG adapter (basically its what lets you plug the usb into the charging port of your phone), plug in the Xbox controller and start up your favorite game.
Note that most games don't natively support gamepads (like the Xbox 360 controller), but a few that do (that I've personally tested) are GTA III, Shine Runner, Dead Trigger, and others. However, if you're phone is rooted you can download an app called Joystick Center that lets you use your gamepad for almost any game.

Same
"Female input and male input" Lol, you either say Input/Output or Female/Male but this guy does it both!
Well removing female and male in what he says would mean nothing.
"We've got an input here and input here"
one end is male and the other is female so whats the problem!?

I don’t have an OTG cable. Do you understand?
I don't know what to tell you, if you don't want to get an otg cable you should just buy a bluetooth controller
my tablet actually HAS a regular usb port i plug my controller in it and it dont work
You must have a fat ass tablet
WTF
Snakeeyez470 yeah sure it does
Same
LOL
I love the fact that you can buy a Microsoft xbox controller its pretty sick playing games on my phone or my computer and it is just like playing a game console but saying that iv got a gaming keyboard aswell so I take all on
i plug my otg cable and xbox 360 controller and the game didnt work
Android, unlike Windows or OSx, or iOS or any other OS, supports external controllers in most forms without using 3'rd party software. This is because Google supports developers to the max and they've seen things in the past like Nvidia Shield or Xperia Play. (There are more controller based devices which are Android powered, just don't remember them right now.)
When im playing gta3 i connect the xbox (with OTG cable and wireless receiver) and its look un first person abd moves like crazy, i can only drive cara weel please help
I think you can make most games work with tincore keymapper.
Thank you dude, it helped me but I haven't bought that otg cable
Lol same
Wait you do it without any cable???
With a Samsung phone you can get a adapter that plugs into the bottom of your phone and you can plug anything into it its pretty cool you can even plug in USB memory stick and move stuff off your phone onto a USB memory stick . They are not even that much to buy one of them USB adapters and when I mean that you can plug anything into the adapter i mean that I love Samsungs phones i think they are the best phones to get if you ask me
will this work on my little brother?
It will work on ebola.
o47x clips
what
you need a butt hole to usb adapter
Mr. Doge ah yes that is the exact one I found on newegg
I do not recall hearing him say anything about your phone needing otg support O_O
Thank you
hey
how it will work in my htc desire 620g
@ PhoneBuff, Its not just da Android version that supports USB devices. Its da I/O controller on da motherboard of da phone. For example, I have a T-Mobile G2X, I had flashed an ICS 4.0.4 ROM on it & it didn't work. It because its motherboard's I/O controller doesn't support Plug & Play USB devices. Its seems ur Samsung S3 has that I/O controller support on it 2 be used with da OTG cable & da Xbox controller.
Hello
I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 inch I plug in the otg cable and a genuine microsoft xbox 360 wired controller and the ring just flashes green and nothing happens I tried playing dead trigger it did not work can anyone help me
Same problem.Pls help.
I have same problem
Its probably the otg cable or the conyroller cable, i had the same problem, worst case it's your device that does not work with it. My old android tablet did not work, just try to use a different cable. I hope i could help
Thanks. I just bought this controller and it works fine on my oppo phone. Using it for psx and psp emulation its amazing.
DID IT WORK ON KARBONN TATINUM S5PLUS
after a little bit of digging you can use dead trigger with the controller , if its wired controller , if its an wireless controller you need root excess .
my controller won't turn on when I plug in
and I don't get told anything in the top
Try pressing the Xbox button on your controller
Ashley The Fox 😂😂😂"smart"
This is a cool feature I never knew about. I can now bring a controller to work and play it on my phone.
You must be a politician, yeah??
How to drain your battery by PhoneBuff.
DiskoSpider
K
i plugged it in and the controller just keeps flashing and games don't work, help!
you might need to find apps to "map" the controls. not many games support any controller much less xbox controllers with standard options.
That intro ^.^
It controls just like it did 10 years ago.. awesome
Looks like I don't need to buy a Wii U anymore
people buy wii u ?whot
XD
Eh ill just buy the pro controller
Ur phone's internet connection doesn't come in2 play in dis. Its uses ur phones's Plug & Play USB I/O controller on da motherboard. Best way is using these controllers via bluetooth. PS3 controllers best at that. Only that u have 2 buy an app, other utilities, & root access 2 work. But its worth it because u can create controller buttons profiles for different games & make'em work flawlessly.
Did i must have root ? I have Samsung S4 (im polish guy ny englishch is bad)
he said it doesnt need root. ur english is pretty good for a polish guy honestly
No root
+flippit 3685 Thank for help. How fast phone battery is draining? My phone works only MAX 3h on battery (my battery suck) I wanna to play Gta San Andreas with xbox pad
+Piotr Grochowski it can be a bad battery drainer honestly
+Fergus Piga How many long i will can play? 1 hour?
That x360 controller has filthy start/select buttons.

+Chris Da Creepa hehe I understand everything he said XD
you need to have the little wireless adapter for pc which is what you plug in to play with a wireless controller.
This work on emulators?
***** there are no ps2 emulators for android
i think it doesnt comes soon because android phones are too slow to emulate ps2 games
@@BazzerLP hehe I dare you to say that again after 5 years
now 2021 and its alot of ps2 emulator
Life was so simple back then
Awesomesauce!
To get xBOX 360 control on mobile devices the programmers needs to explicitly setup the controller in the game. Dead Trigger and Rockstar games spend a time in doing that. That is why it recognizes the input.
Dude, it's just a USB connection. People know how to plug things in.
What would be cool would be to show something like XBox 360 Controller to Android Mini PC using Wifi only.
Or something that's not so obvious.
I'm not trying to be rude, but the internet is so cluttered with all this really useless stuff, just think about it.
I'm sure you've got some cool videos, but... please, try to do things for people who are not brain dead.
>What would be cool would be to show something like XBox 360 Controller to Android Mini PC using Wifi only.
> Wifi only.
>Wifi
I think you mean bluetooth, and SleeplessNinja has set it up. (It requires an OTG cable and the wireless dongle).
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792531
Connect a xbox 360 controller with bluetooth. Xbox controllers use a propeiotary 2.4 ghz protocol... They wont connect to wifi or bluetooth, but we do have a higher change over wifi than bluetooth tough.

You didn't knew how to do something once in your life.
Just because it's obvious to you now doesn't mean it's for braindead people or useless.
Areal Person ur freaking 3 sit down
Just so you know, yes the controls are odd, but that's what the conrols were for GTA3 way back in the day.
female input and male input ? that will bring babys !!

iTs Skills ...How old are you?
Male output!!!
The USB port on the tablet phone your using is not made for using those cables it will overload your micro USB port
Good thinking,Great work :)
bro you still alive :(?
Best advice is look in2 da Apple store & see if theres any supporting apps 2 use either Xbox or PS3 controllers via bluetooth, Cuz I dont think an OTG cables is compatible wit iphones & also might not even have I/O controller support on its motherboard.
Does this work for a Galaxy s6?
Itz Tannerz yes, it works on all android devices running 4.0 and onward
Yes
Its playstation 2 controls on xbox controller. But most of the devices need root to connect usb gamepad. I think connect your controller via root access is better because I use six axis controller app and usb/bt joystick center for touch emulate.

Get da "Sixaxis compatibility checker" & "Sixaxis controller" apps at da Playstore. It works on da Galaxy series using a PS3 controller.
If ur still confused, All u have 2 get is da "Sixaxis compatibility checker" app & "Sixaxis controller" app at da Playstore & da Sixaxis PC utility from da website given & follow thru step by step. MAKE SURE UR ANDROID DEVICE IS ROOTED. If u dont even know wat that means, google rooting android deices. Its just like jailbreaking an iphone, except in Android its called "Rooting".
Probably works the exact same way on an android tablet. Getting an android tablet next week and will be using my xbox 360 controller for it.
if i will buy this micro usb and i will connect it with playstation controller will it work??
plzz help me
Does it work on a 2 year old Android tablet
Yes
I think I've seen this on another video... Someone used a wireless X360 controller with the Motorola Xoom tablet by connecting an Xbox 360 wireless adapter for PCs with the USB host cable... You can't do it without that adapter, as far as I know. Heck, I'm not even sure what kind of wireless technology to X360 pads use... If it's bluetooth, Microsoft worked hard to hide them.
I just got a otg cable. And for some reason its not working with my phone. I have the new 2013 g'zone commando II 4gte version, kernel software. And I'm trying my 360 controller, no luck... Any ideas???
Maybe that cellphone its not compatible with USB OTG.
I'm on LG's G2 and I have kind of a problem. I can plug my 360 controller in an OTG cable and plug this cable into my phone who will recognize the controller instantly. So far, no problem.
However, controls seem to be completely glitched because when I press any button that isn't the D-Pad, the phone seems to believe that the button is held down indefinitely, as though it was stuck.
I know the problem doesn't come from my OTG cable because it works with external storage devices, mice and keyboards and that it also doesn't come from my controller since I use it very often on my PC and 360.
So, what gives? Does anyone have a clue?
EDIT: I have tried another controller (a pretty terrible one that's a bit broken) and this one worked no problem and did not have the issue, so I'm thinking there may be a communication problem between the 360 pad and the phone.
Can this work for the Samsung Galaxy s6
Can you actually do that on the 4G
yes, It should work automatically if you connect to your android device via bluetooth
I did it today and it working great on my Samsung galaxy tabe e 8.0, 1.5 GB ram version 32gb. But I strongly recommend playing ppsspp games
Ayye did you try any stock android games ? (Not emulators)
cool thanx for the info, i just rooted my android phone, now im gonna buy the usb cable for my controler
It works exactly the same with the PS3 controller. No root, plug the controller in using the OTG cable, press the PS button, it will work just the same as the Xbox 360 controller. Since it's wireless though, it'll turn your PS3 on when you unplug it. Otherwise works just the same. (root is required for wireless ps3 controller, but not if you're only using the usb cable)
There are probably plenty of retailers that sell them, though you are likely to find it on ebay or similar sites cheaper.
How come it doesn't work for me? I'm using an Xperia Z1 on 4.3 with a wired xbox 360 controller. The controller works and the USB OTG cable works, but when I plug them in to my phone the controller isn't recognized and it doesn't turn on. I've had the green light in the middle flicker on occasion but no real progress of any sort.. I've been trying to figure this out for a while but I have no idea what's wrong. It should work as far as I can tell. I tried an app called OTG Troubleshooter and it tells me USB Host Support is fine, OTG is detected fine, but no USB device detected in linux or android.
use the ps3 sixaxis controller. they both say SONY
Same here (Samsung galaxy S2) :(
But it works with ps3 controller
This works best with a Galaxy S3 or S4, which have USB-OTG support AND gamepad support right out of the box, without any rooting or modifying necessary.
continued..... Also read da instructions at da playstore page of da app & go 2 da website given there 2 download da utility on ur PC. In da Sixaxis PC utility add ur phones bluetooth address shown in da "Sixaxis controller" app. Da bluetooth address will be shown at da bottom of da screen within da app. Enter it in da PC utility & its paired, then da app should say, "listening for controllers". By then da pairing is complete. Follow thru da instructions given on da website.
Good thing my android tablet has that OTG Adapter included in the packaging... At first I didn't know what it does, cause I can't plug it into the PC lol.
I bought new Huawei Honor 7 and device and games are not responding to receiver but it shows is charging it. Mouse and keyboard works fantastic.
cool i didnt knew you can play games using a xbox360 controller on youre android mobile phone
I have a iPod touch so I wouldn't REALY care but does this work with wirless controllers that have the charger ?
Microsoft should take notice of this and use it as a portable console idea
When I plug my control in the light on Xbox controller comes on but doesn't work just says its charging???
could you do the same thing with an iPhone using a micro usb to lighting connector and that On The Go cord? PhoneBuff thanks
sees xbox controller controlling an android. has android.
OMEGERDTHISISFREKINCOOL
btw someone reply which emulators does this support and where to find a cable to connect a 360 wireless controller.
i'm buying this shit tomorrow ASAP, right after I come out of work! SWEET. I'm gonna download mad emulators! Hopefully I can play multi-player! I'll buy 2 cables... for me and my cousin!
Look in da Playstore & look for "Sixaxis compatibility checker" & "Sixaxis controller" (paid app). U can pair a PS3 sixaxis controller via bluetooth.
i just plugged in a xbox 360 controller for my pc and it worked fine without buying anything... im just looking for good games to play on a 2 hour commute now
I plugged mine into a HTC ONE and it worked
i have tried the same procedure but my phone doe not recognize the contrller it's Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.... Any idea how can i make it work?
how i connect my note 5 to xbox 360 my controller light is blinking and games like gta 5 i cant play with controller
pls help me, i did the wired one then my controller light up but doesnt do anything, but my controller works on xbox properly is there anything i could do to fix it
I don't even get a notification that anything is connected but the lights flash
I bought a nexus 7 solely for this purpose. From my time with it, it was great, plays n64 and psone emulators without any lag. However, i soon got tired with the tiny screen. I recommend you go for the nexus 10 or have some way to output the n7's display to a bigger screen. Once the novelty of playing emulators on android wears off, you'll wish for nothing more than to be able to play on a bigger screen. Just my .02 from experience.
Dude this is so cool! I will try this today
yea, If u have an Android device, download da "Sixaxis compatibility checker". Ur device has 2 support dis kind of function. Such phones like da T-Mobile G2X or LG Optimus 2X & others like it support it. After u figure out if its compatible, buy & download da real app called "Sixaxis controller" & activate da app 2 pair controller wit ur android device. Also UR PHONE MUST BE ROOTED (HACKED) 2 DO DIS.
i mean,like can u play console?
okay i have the wireless xbox 360 controller, I use the charging cable to play, can i use that cable with the OTG???some says they cant do it. thanks
Mine doesnt work for some reason pls help me. I have a wireless otg cable and a wired xbox 360 controller but its not working
Now I know that this can work with the wirless adapter if you have a wireless controller. My question is would this work if I used a charge kit to the otg cable?
I have a question. So I record my android gameplay with elgato. And I have to plug it in the charger peace is there a way to still use the Xbox 360 controller
360 controllers use an outdated proprietary RF protocol.
You can't use a charging cable. The only way to use it for this is to have the wireless adapter.
Would it be able to work threw bluetooth on samsung A11 metropcs phone dose the controller need a update if i purchase one from gamestop
i have windows 10 do you know if microsoft xbox 360 controller with wire is compatible to windows 10?
You have to go to settings and choose physical buttons and then it works
Is it possible to use a wireless controller for those that don't have wired controllers?
I dont know why so many people use Galaxy's. Sony Xperia phones (i have the Z3) outperforms the Galaxy hands down AND they support DualShock controllers out of the box, no adapters, no root. Also they support remote play of the PS4. Galaxy? Heh...
How do you get the LT/RT to work correctly? On mine, they work as if they're analog sticks...
What if I have a wireless controller, an otg cable and a Play and Charge kit. Will it still work?
it's cool but can you hook up to hdtv while connected? been looking at moga, moga pro and steelseries free Bluetooth controllers for that capability
i have a ps3 wired contrllor and a lg stylo phone would it work the same way?
I really appreciate your grammar , Jerremy Dlphabet.
