Thanks for this! I tried it out today and it works great. You can simplify the implementation by setting up the additional mixes with a source of MAX instead of Coll, and then setting the Weight to be the value you were going to get from the flat pitch curve. For example, mix R0 would have a source of MAX and a weight of 0%. Mix R1 would have a source of MAX and a weight of 90%. Where it says curve just leave it at Diff 0%. Then you can get rid of the flat curves altogether.
Just when i thought i was a genius at programming my Futaba transmitter this video appears... 'phew'.... great explanation from a very smart and dedicated guy. Looks like Futaba will soon be out of business with this radiomaster TX.
Much appeciated for the breakdown of how rescue mode works. Also very good for understanding OpenTX / EdgeTX in general and the more advance features and functionality of this software.
This really is SO awsome!! I'm using this on the M1 and M2 with a slight tweek that when I hit rescue the 0° pitch curve will only be applied if the collective is already at less than +10 positive pitch in the outputs. That way, if I hit rescue while I'm NOT inverted it won't go to 0° pitch and loose altitude before the (Rescue) positive pitch curve is appled 0.3 seconds later. I also applied the rescue function to a Blade mCPX BL2 to use the SAFE mode just like Jonas has used the Stability mode on the OMP helis, works great!! I'm new to OpenTx, but It's totally awsome!!
THIS is what I hoped this video would encourage. Show what's possible and how Jonas did it to provide a foundation to expand on and learn from. Amazing. Thanks for sharing
Thank you TJ and Jonas. I was one of the guys asking for just how to setup this mode, without changing the rest of my setup on Tx. You are awesome in helping the community :) God Bless.
I've finally finished my setup. The only thing I had to change was to reverse the value of ch5 in the mixer settings and swap the SF and SH switches. I use the spectrum satellite without switch flip on the Radiomaster.
Dear JONAS, thank you very much for showing us your setup. I have a TARANIS X9D + and the OMP M1 helicopter. Since your setup is very complicated and very different from what I have been using for a whole year, I bought the ACCURC simulator to test all the functions first on the simulator, and after practicing, on the real model. In ACCURC I managed to set almost all the parameters and I do simulation with the OMP M2. Unfortunately, in "FUNCTIONS" there is NO possibility of activating the "STABILIZATION" function when the value "-100" is assigned to "CHANNEL 5". So I CANNOT TEST THE "RESCUE" FUNCTION. I wrote to ADE, and he replied that it is their choice, so the model does not break on the simulator. I replied that the simulators are used to test ALL FUNCTIONS on the simulator to practice and avoid breaking the real models. While waiting for you to add the OMP M1 helicopter and make it really close to real model (accuracy), I greet you cordially.
Well if you make more people comfortable flying so more people will be buying and more customers for parts and everything else. Great video by the way!! cheers!!
Hello, I am new to both the TX (TX16S) and also the M2, so am a bit confused. I only fly with Stunt 1 (Stunt 2 might have very little changes if at all). So, would I still need to setup all these R0, R1, etc. - or can I just get away with R1 (if I only fly on Stunt 1)? Great video, it is just my understanding of TX16 needs to catch up ... LOL
With a Spectrum DX9 you have to : 1)create a sequence that increases the pitch after the 0,3s delay 2)insert this sequence in a mix 3) create a second mix to allow stability mode (flight mode one) to overcome the current flight mode, without delay 4) link these to mixes to the same switch. It is explained in detail by the "DX9 sequence challenge" in Helifreaks.
Any chance of getting a guide like this for Spektrum radio setup? Been looking all over to try and figure out a rescue mode but not found anything like this for Spektrum
I followed this video and everything is working except that the rescue switch does not change the CH5 to -100. So if I press my rescue switch it does change to 0 collective pitch and back to 80/90/100 collective pitch after 0.3 seconds but the heli does not go into self-level mode when I use the switch. My output widget on the home screen of my TX16S also does not show the -100 on CH5 when I press the switch. Is it possible that he forgot to mention something important in this video that will make it work? I checked all my settings again and I pretty sure I have done everything he does in this video.
Thank you for the work done. It's great ! tell me does this work only with the Futaba protocol or can this be done in the OMP protocol? I have M2 and I work with TX16 with OMP. Thank you very much.
Great video, but there is a caveat! How will a helicopter turn over from invert to positive and gain altitude? This is how it works in fbl IKON2 end VBAR NEO. Maybe I missed something? But I didn’t see a mix of turning a helicopter from invert to normal or does it work differently? Thanks for the help! 🤝
Hello, Thank you for great video. A couple of questions: 1. I see in AccuRC TJ's video shows to setup the momentary switch to RESCUE function, so I assume AccuRC sees that switch and does the Rescue for us. Is it possible to really let the TX16S programmed RESCUE switch (as in this video) do the rescue, so we can really test it from TX16 point of view? 2. I recently bought the M2 Explore from BuddyRC, it has a SelfLevel/3D mode (OMP receiver ch7), which is controlled by a switch. Does AccuRC allow changing this mode via the TX16 switch? If we could simply use the same setup we have on the TX16 and just turn RF mode off, that would be awesome! Thanks again.
hi, I followed your instruction on the m2 helicopter on TX16s. Then I tried to get to rescue mode. (the one from Jonas) But when I use that button it will not straighten up. it will turn to positive. But if it is on the side or upside down, it goes straight to the ground, I think. any advice?
The OMP Protocol was designed for their simple radio, which has simple preset idle rates for low, medium & high - but you can still program pitch rates, so yes these settings will work with the OMP protocol - but you might need to use slightly different % than shown here for each (by experimenting - or experience). I believe the difference between rescue & stabilisation - is that rescue mode is adding some changes to pitch control in addition to righting\levelling (stabilising) the heli, that makes the correction more natural, & also damps down the pitch range to make control easier after recovery (you won't have to adjust the sticks so much). I think another way of describing it is - stabilisation\self-levelling is a crude robotic control that is not natural - and if you're in the middle of a 3D manoevre, hitting the switch to self-level is going to be violent - partly because your stick inputs (inc pitch setting) at the time are in conflict with the heli being level. Rescue mode adds in some pitch controls to dampen that down & make the control feel more intuitive.
So it CAAAAAN. BUT - it's just simply activating the self leveling feature, spektrum doesn't have the ability to input time delays on switch activations to achieve this same result.
It is possible indeed to set up the same features with a DX9. The solution is here www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=886059&highlight=DX9+sequencing+challenge#post8271407
I want an M2 so bad to replace my Fusion 180 which flies super sloppy. I'll sneak an order of one when my wife is unsuspecting. I also just bought AccuRC2 to replace Phoenix Sim and I love it.
Once your skids are on the ground, you can keep it from spinning out by giving it negative collective pitch and that should hold the helicopter down to the grounds so it doesn't spend.
You guys are putting a big H into helicopters again. Thanks for the post. Will Jonas's setup with the fhss work to debug a hover in stabilitymode ? I added the satellite rx to a omp protocol m1 and seems like it won't debug a hover like the omp bind did. The opm bind cleaned itself up really well. Jonas's tune seems to slide off after I did the debug. Still like the ability to change curves even if I have to lean on the sticks a little.
The biggest problem here is that this Rescue is setting pitch positive, if I'm inverted it will send me to the ground. I'm implementing this to just activate the Giro and leaving the pitch as it is until a fund a way to set pitch according to the current orientation.
Watch the explanation again. The split second prior to positive pitch is neutral pitch where and when the gyro auto levels the heli and then the positive is input to make it rise from the ground. It's been tested extensively by many. 😉
@@BuddyRC oh ok I noticed that he said that but when I teste with the K110 on my hand upside-down it leveled upside-down.
