      Boxing is the standard. Don't you have to knock the champ out to get the belt?? That's how the saying goes lls. Boxing doesn't have to explain itself, it's the champ. If Dana can't stop being greedy and give fighters more $ than there can be an argument. Both sports fight for their life but boxers get paid more respectfully. I like how someone said boxing is a gentlemen's sport nd MMA is for warriors. Boxers are warriors also. But I like the sentiment. Basically once you kick someone or try to (a felony in some states lol) it's extremely personal. Can't be civil then

    • @kingartifex
      @kingartifex 10 месяцев назад

      @@Atlas365247 money is the only argument in favor of competing in boxing. And that's only because of age: boxing has been around for a lot longer and people in the 1920s didn't know better for a combat sport, its more rooted in western society so they have the "first mover advantage". Also, the general public is too lazy to learn about other techniques, they just want to see people punch each other.
      I would argue though, if MMA fighters could pick and choose fights like they do in boxing, you would only have fighters with padded record who fight journeymen they are sure of beating. In the UFC dana decides, so in a way, the matchups are more interesting than jake pall who only fights people he knows he would win. And boxing is wayyyyyy more corrupt because of stuff like this. So much fight fixing and referee bias. There has been corruption also in MMA, but much less imo.
      For a true martial artist who wants to know who can fight better (and not just punch in a specific way to score points), you have to evaluate all aspects of fighting, not "only punching". You could be better at punching than me, but I might be better at grappling or kicking. If you make a limited ruleset that says "nope, you can only use 1 tool" then you are basically measureing the outcome on one facet. It just makes more sense, on a scientific level, to have a more open ruleset like MMA.

      Anyone that trained anything at least a bit practical, even stuff like proper taekwondo or kyokushin is gonna be miles ahead of the average Joe just due to conditioning, footwork and confidence. But as a fighter you want to have different tools for different situations and that's why MMA is the best at that. You can have the meanest right hook in the world and that won't mean anything if someone puts you on the ground. You can think you're slick and that no one will put you in that situation, but life teaches humility constantly. The reverse is also true - a great wrestler will get messed up if he can't throw hands and comes upon someone who can. The point is to know your strengths and know your weaknesses, playing into the former and improving the latter. Cuz all of these things are sports, and while you can relate a lot of it to self defense it won't be a 1/1 correlation. All of these things are just tools.

      @@buckplug2423Boxing is the best in most situations in the streets, the majority of men are untrained and especially wannabe thugs in the streets, most trained fighters are disciplined and usual aren’t out starting street brawls so such a situation is unlikely unless your actively looking for a fight, not likely to happen if your a law abiding citizen. Reason why boxing is the best in most scenarios because with boxing you have the tools to end the fight quickly while bringing the fight to the ground puts you in a vulnerable position to getting stomped on. People don’t fight fair in the streets, if they see you drop their boy they join in to back him up, in such situations boxing is your best bet.

Better to learn how to get skillful with weapons based martial arts if self defense is what you’re aiming for. Or learn how to travel with a group of people. UFC’S MMA is also just a sport.

      I agree with this to a degree, but a lot of other combat sports besides MMA have limits. Even MMA if we'll be real, most rulesets don't allow tactics such as stomping or kicking the head of an opponent that pulls guard, rabbit punching is still considered bad, you can't elbow your opponent on the ground in a certain way, headbutts are still illegal, etc. But yeah, it gives a way bigger arsenal to fight with compared to boxing.

      @@iseespeed5311yeah MMA has more opportunity to be entertaining especially if you came from watching boxing for years. But to say MMA is not also a silly agreement or more efficient is a dumb argument. They're both sports at the end of the day, it's not real fighting
      Then again watching Ali fight is more entertaining than any UFC fight I've seen imo, and the entertainment lasts longer (that's the point of the big gloves). It's just modern boxing that's lacking, professional mma is organised so much better

    80%~90% of the boxing problem is literally belts. Allowing fighters too avoid each other make it one belt only and these guys would be forced too fight if they want too be champion. The main thing about the UFC that the new guys instantly fall in love with is that the best fight the best and the ufc is already the best. Where as a boxer could be trash but 30-0 off fighting journey men the ufc is already the best guys and they climb a ranking system and the best fight the best that’s why long reigning champions in the ufc are so impressive because not only is the form of combat 10X harder that there going up against but they have also remained champion for years fighting only the very best. Fuck boxing if it disappeared right now I would literally barely care as the history of boxing and the glory eras would still be in my heart and memory
