Great review. I have a 2017 Q7 and I agree with your pros and cons except the engine. It has 66k miles on it and the supercharged V6 is turbine smooth and has better fuel economy than the turbo. It has been very reliable as well. I will have owned it for six years come January 3rd.
I had a 2019 Q7 Prestige, and it was perfect. I now have a new Audi E-Tron and love it too. Audi service departments aren’t cheap, but they are sure better than our Volvo service department.

Audi's usually age pretty well but this facelift on the Q7 looks pretty dated now. Pre-facelift designs of the current gen Audi's looked so much better.
It looks old, outdated, boring & bland, something grandparents would drive. The only thing missing to make that "old" look perfect would be wood elements on the sides of the car.
I so agree. Sofyan just reviewed an S5 Sportback that still looks as fresh as the day it came out in 2018. The Q7 is just the opposite. It just doesn't have that Audi magic of not going stale for years.
Great review! I have a 2022 Audi SQ7 and it has wireless Android Auto. My understanding is all of the 2022 and higher models now have wireless Android Auto.
We love our ‘21 Q7 Prestige! Awesome vehicle! And we love the classy, understated styling on the exterior and interior. If someone is looking for “wow”, this ain’t it. If someone is looking for tasteful, elegant, comfortable and dependable, this is perfect. Audi doesn’t just make changes for change sake so some people think they are looking long in the tooth while Audiphiles think, “good, they didn’t muck that up on the new model”. I don’t want to own a vehicle that looks good but isn’t really and then gets changed the next year.
I've always liked the Q7 tbh. I think it has the practicality, the space, the beautiful interior, and just overall, it's a perfect family vehicle. Of course, the SQ7 is the one to get if you want that V8 and those bragging rights, but even this 6-cylinder model is perfect to drive. I mean, those Germans really know how to build one good car.
Regarding the piano black plastic, it looks good brand new but there's way too much in this level of luxury. I love the brown upholstery and the wood trim on the doors but the highly reflective dash materials and screens are a no go.
I have a 2009 q7 with the vr6 motor and it is so LOUD inside the cabin. Like they did not put enough soundproofing in firewall. I love it but would definitely appreciate the quiet engines on new models.
Do you know any information as to why the 23 has a more problem direct steering and less of that delay when hitting the gas ? I have a 22 model I recently sent in for service and was given a 23 and it drove much better than my 22. Both v6 engines and built exactly the same with the same options
I have this mode 2022 and the dealership said the same thing "no wireless android auto" the car comes standard with wireless car play and wireless android auto
Sofyan, love your work, but what have you got against neutral colors? You are always anti any grey or basic silvers. To each their own of course, but no need to be against us fans of less showy look-at-me colors. 🙂
We recently had a Lexus IS 350 F-Sport AWD in Atomic Silver and we actually liked that color a lot. But it also had a much better looking set of wheels on it. Perhaps if this car had the Black Optics Package, it would have made the gray look less bland.
Good review but fails to recognize that many of us are much taller (over 6’4”) and require adequate head and leg room. Sadly, only the German manufacturers offer this. The MDX (and all other Japanese) is at least 2” less in all important dimensions.
Agree, we tested all the Japanese and sister German models and for our tall family, hands down the Q7 was the most comfortable. We landed on a 22 Q7 55 and have had no regrets.
It may be bigger than the Q8 on the exterior but I assure you, inside the Q8 has more room and is more comfortable. It’s a bit wider too. The 3rd row takes away a lot of leg room from the front and second row passengers. If you don’t need a 3rd row which only little kids can fit in get the Q8. Of course the Q8 is a more $$$ and can be harder to find.

Excellent review and stating its stats. Useful for those who only lease. To those of us who finance to own past warranties,The turbo V6 are problematic long term wise. I have a 2017 Q7 w/supercharger and maintaining it (including cost) is much easier on the pocket vs that turbo that produces so much heat on top of that engine. Plus the turbo-charged engine, best do oil changes early for longevity because that'll burn more oil ;) . If you want more power... don't bother with the SQ7 - just have it tuned and you won't be disappointed. Granted the V8 is great...BUT the cost of your maintenance and replacing it's wear and tear items are more.
