    Thx for the video. I'm at 14 wks PO and no way i can do some of the stuff shown in this video. I hope you were showing what you used to be able to do when you were healthy. (Like standing upside down, lifting barbells above your shoulder, etc)

      Haha yes, some of those b-roll clips were showing what I used to be able to do and what I was hoping to get back to, which I did. I’m guessing you now have some good use of that shoulder again.

    Great piece of advice from your PT. I am 12 weeks PO and having same challenge like you with external rotation. Its still painful and stiff while doing this above shoulder movement.Even I am still to acheive full active external rotation in standing position. Hope to reach it slowly but steadily

      Agree! External rotation is among the last range of motion to return. Especially, anything externally rotating above the shoulder. I'm still working on it at Week 14 going on Week 15. The good news is, it's improving slowly, but surely! We will get there!!

    Watching your vids since I just had the same surgery as you. Were you doing heavy push presses, hand stand pushups and muscle ups at 14 weeks? If not when did you start doing regular crossfit sessions again?

    This episode was great! Tomorrow is my surgery day. How did you prevent unwanted weight gain during your recovery?

      @Kent Ryan
      I hope your surgery went well last week. Please give me an update on how you are doing. As for weight gain, the unfortunate news is I lost a lot of muscle and did gain fat. My weight fluctuated down a bit, but it was mostly my body composition that changed.
      You probably saw on my 7 day/1 week video, I started doing a bunch of workouts I thought were safe. My healthcare team kind of freaked out on me due to the fragility and length of tendon repair. I researched it a lot and saw what they were saying, so I totally chilled out from there on. I have just recently been really getting back into it, slowly and gradually.
      I do plan on providing updated videos in the coming weeks/months. They should be out well before you are to that point. Hope you are doing well!

      I spent a lot of time researching and interviewing different PTs. I found one who is accomplished and had a similar mindset. That helped a lot. Being in shape definitely helped too. You had more extensive repairs, so it’s normal to need more time. Make it a goal to be 1% better every day and you will be there soon. Stay positive, keep working hard, and follow your healthcare team’s plan. You got this!

    At 0:33 that's exactly my problem. Still so difficult at 14 weeks

      @Sanghamitra Das yes! This is totally normal. Overhead with external rotation is commonly the hardest thing to do after a supraspinatus repair because it has no helpers. I replied to your message on the Week 16 video in detail with some advice on how I have been working on overcoming this. The short version is, keep working at it consistently and over time, you will get stronger! Again, this is totally normal.

    Can you provide info on the new exercises? Looks like there would be some good ones - isometric through the progression he mentioned.

      I will be adding that information in the Week 15 video. These movements are super helpful for sure!

      @@livelongerlivestronger thanks! I kept waiting for the new exercises in the video....what a tease!

      @@ptarmstrong2852 the new movements are indeed in the video as stated, I just didn't add all the details for reps/sets/loads due to length. The week 15 video will have all that information and more. I should have that video out soon. Apologies for any perceived teasing. That was not the intent! :)
