What a blasphemy, Roy Khan never uses Auto-tune. Auto-tune uses Roy Khan!
Yap, funny
you sir, go up! fucking right
Haha yep! I've seen him live and he sounds every bit as amazing and smooth as this DVD clip
Best comment of the day.
Agreed, Roy Khan is too perfect. God I miss this man.
Roy Khan is so good that people thinks its Auto Tune xD hahahahaa
Im sorry to tell you bud, but litterly every singer now days use some form of auto tuning. Roy isnt any different.
@@saintmastema17 is he using autotune in his Conception era too? It sounded amazing live and I don't think autotune was so spread in those days.
@@saintmastema17 Not at all true why it comes to these operatic/symphonic bands. The singers all tend to be classically trained, which is why the sound so great. Now they may add effects to their voice to make a certain sound from time to time, but it's not to fix vocal imperfections, but to add to the song thematically
@@jaihayes9647 Exactly, please keep educating people on how it is. If anything they would welcome an imperfection in their live performance, it would give them something to strive for, to better themselves, and show they are human. Their music is crafted by them, not some other person, so they put all of themselves into it.
@@saintmastema17 khan isn't in the industry anymore, and he didn't use autotune. he has an exceptional voice because he was trained in opera when he was younger. he definitely lost his high range compared to his early stuff.
Roy Khan actually studied opera in Norway, before he became a metal singer. I think it shows in his technique in places - and he has a tremendous presence on stage, very theatrical. He as a vocal range of 5 octaves, too.
*he is Norwegian 😊😊😊
@@RoamingSouthernNorway Is Norwegian and studied in Norway aren't mutually exclusive, you know?
I think he meant that he is norwegian, atleast he's mother is norwegian and he is born in Norway
Does he still have 5 octaves? His voice has aged, it seemed like he had a completely different tone in Ghost Opera and Poetry for the Poisoned than he did in the days of Karma. I'm not sure he can still maintain that range.
@@HaibaneRakka571 This recent one reminds me more of Karma-era Roy Khan, so maybe: ruclips.net/video/rlRJAb2p24I/видео.html
I never did like metal ( actually, never listened to any) until you started to feature these unbelievably remarkable live metal performances. What an amazing live concert where the lead singer with his fabulous vocal range ( from low to high!) backed by the mind -shattering instrumentals took me on an emotionally impactful journey to another realm. Transported me to the church of metal ecstasy!
I now have a great appreciation for these heavy metal anthems, thanks to you, Beth , featuring them. And your “right on” analysis enhances my enjoyment.
Wow! Never thought I’d ever say I love heavy metal. Well, I just said it!
@al fogel If you wouldn't mind a suggestion, this is hands down one of the greatest live metal shows ever recorded : ruclips.net/video/LIFZUPl6V0c/видео.html
Everyone in their prime at that stage and I get shivers every time at the beginning ... what a blast !
If you want something lighter I'd strongly suggest you look in to a project named "Ayreon" ... amazing singers and musicians participate in it ... enjoy :D
Beth, not being a metalhead herself, getting people into metal lol
Power metal in general is really theatrical and trap you into amazing stories and differents feelings in the same song . These vocalist(also the musicians) are often from classical or opera background. Of course it can be intense but never aggressive .The musicianship is also a big part of the soul of this genre of music .
Welcome to the world of metal! It’s the most diverse genre of music. There’s always a metal sub genre that resonates for everyone. Just gotta find which one.
Guitar noodle : thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I’m 72 years old and most of my cronies think metal is anathema. But I’ve been enjoying bands like Nightwish, etc where the lead vocalists ( male or female) are powerful and the songs are more spiritual-emphasizing the celestial and not the gross mundane. But that’s just me. Even k-pop like EXO are so remarkable. Thanks to Beth, and suggestions from subscribers like yourself I’m enjoying Metal .
Thanks again and if you know of any bands/songs that you think I would enjoy, please let me know.
Love from Florida,
Al
I'm obsessed with Roy Khan. There's something so special about his singing.
Roy is widely considered one of the best and strongest male singers in the symphonic metal genre. A great stage presence and voice!
*The* best. In that specific of a genre, no doubt.
Oooooh, we get a bonus track! "When the Lights are Down" is classic Kamelot :D
It's my absolute favorite!
This is all Khan and he has one of the purest tones ever. No autotune for him ever! I've seen Kamelot several times and have seen him with Conception. He is a class act and one of the nicest guys I've met.
actually he uses some autotune and vocal effects in the Conception album "Flow". They're for effect, of course, not to "fix" his vocals.
I love you for reacting to this, Roy Khan is a total boss
Roy Khan is my all time favorite singer, I love that you reacted to him!
One of my favorite singers! Roy sounds so emotional, he plays with tones and dinamics in such an unic way! He has a level of control of his own voice that is so hard to get! Genious!
I sugested you listen to Kamelot's songs Forever, The Haunting (with Simone Simons), and March of Mephisto. All amazing songs and vocals
Also Memento Mori live in Belgrade! Love that one.
@@lolomghello Me too!
The Elizabeth trilogy from this concert is a absolute must!!
The Haunting with Simone is amazing, she needs to do the live duet version of it though.
On March of Mephisto Shagrath from Dimmu Borgir had guest vocals. Thus I'd actually like to see her look into the studio version (I don't think he ever performed with them live) and see what she thinks of him :D
God i loved your reaction!! Roy Khan is also known in the metal world as The Voice of God. Please do more!
I’d recommend watching the full concert. Shows his full range and shows off the rest of the band as well.
Love me some Khan 🤘🤘
So much truth!!!!! Forever makes me cry every time!
Roy DID NOT use auto tune... Check other live videos, he's a beast
Elizabeth from this same show is an amazing performance
the entire concert tbh
Elizabeth I, II and III
the whole Elizabeth trilogy from the live album One Cold Winters Night, had been my favorite live performance for over 10 years, beaten only by floor jensens ghost love score . its amazing how it shifts between the songs and builds up the story.
Yessssssssssss! The whole show is amazing, honestly, but Elizabeth is particularly noteworthy for how awesome it is (and better than the studio version, which is always great haha)
Second that!
Roy Khan with Kamelot has long been considered one of the best clean vocals in metal, and I am SO happy we got a double reaction out of this! This band is one of my favourites and they are SO creative. This song is from their album "The Black Halo", which along with the one before that "Epica" are a pair of concept albums. They're designed to tell Johan Wolfgang von Goethe's tragic tale "Faust", and are such an incredible story when put out there by Kamelot. Sadly, Roy is no longer with them, though the new singer Tommy Karevik is wonderful as well.
He's definitely up there with the likes of Daniel Gildenlow, Devin Townsend and ICS Vortex. Progressive metal bands have a lot of fantastic vocalists.
Roy Khan is a beast. It was a hearbreaking moment when he step aside from the band due to health problems :'(. Also, this concert is amazing.
Oh my God Khan (the singer) is the whole reason I ever wanted to learn how to sing. He has such magic in his voice, THANK YOU SO MUCH for doing this video!!!
Blind guardian- mirror mirror live (1.9 mil)
Definitely, although interchangeable with the live performance of Valhalla.
@Goolash Is that the Imagination Through The Looking Glass concert?
@@CryingZombie666 I'm not actually sure, but I am fairly sure that you know which one I am talking about.
@Iamn00bish /SHOdan2 Was not talking to you. Guess I have to tag the original one.
@@CryingZombie666 I was not actually referring to my comment regarding your response, I took it in the context of OP's post
Kamelot is one of my absolute favorite bands. I'd love to hear your analysis of their current singer, Tommy Karevik, particularly how he changes his style to fit with Kamelot, as well as his other band, Seventh Wonder.
Kamelot- Revolution Live (HQ Pro-Shot)
I want her to see how Tommy uses both his voice and body to tell the story so gracefully
My favorite singer of all time. Beth, don’t know how you came across Roy Khan, but what a treat.
Like people have already talked about - Kamelot and Epica are two very close bands. Epica got their name from an album by Kamelot, the keyboardist of Kamelot is married to Simone from Epica and she has also sung on a couple Kamelot tracks and Roy has sung on an Epica track. 😊
People always say about auto-tune etc. Auto-tune cannot make your voice sound right, auto-tune, it's just an effect, a crappy one...! It works very different.
There are other softwares that make you ''sing better'' such as melodyne etc.
In these editing - production softwares, if you use these tools-plug-ins (others for harmonies, others for choirs, others to correct instrument players that are not singers but did a backing vocal segment, others to correct a lead vocalist line etc) you can hear when a voice has been corrected - edited in these kind of softwares. Also, you can hear better the effects if you use them...Roy Khan is one of the most ON POINT vocalists ever, to close my comment, he is just using a chorus effect, a bit of reverb/delay, compression and dynamics on this dvd. We must not forget that this is from official dvd material. For those who don't know how a chorus effect works...A chorus effect sometimes (depends on the amount) can make your voice a slight double ''out'' of pitch upper or down, or even both at the same time from the original pitch.
When my brother introduced me to Kamelot 10 years ago, he showed me Forever, I thought in the beggining of the song there were 2 singers because of how different the sound/tone? was, almost thought it was a woman singing the second verse. Khan has been one of my favorite singers since then.
The band Epica is named after one of this band´s albums, but it may have been already mentioned by somebody - just as an interesting factoid
And Epicas singer, Simone Simons, is married to Oliver Palotai, who plays keyboards in Kamelot ;)
@@eXX0n However, Palotai joined Kamelot in 2005, Epica was recorded by Kamelot In 2003
@@RiveN15_ I know, I just wanted to add to the interesting factoid......
@@eXX0n In addition, the band Epica was born in 2002 before the album was released, both of which are not related to each other.
Yes, and they toured a lot together - thus it makes sense for Kamelot to have parts for Simone to sing.
(There is a greater than zero chance I was at this concert. Though they altered between this venue - Rockefeller - and the somewhat larger Sentrum Scene when they visited Oslo.)
What a fantastic voice!
Absolutely love seeing you react to Roy Khan; he's easily one of my favorite vocalists. Thanks for the amazing content.
I was going to ask you to review this concert, but somebody else did... Good! Roy Khan is back! I love his singing! He is one of the Best if not the best metal singer in contemporary music! And I personally love this concert. 🙌🏼
What a great song! Love Kamelot.
Abandoned is one of the most exquisite metal ballads. glad to see it is appreciated by others .
Would really appreciate if you could react to Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down. Ayreon is a music project by a VERY talented composer who invites the best the metal scene has to offer to perform on his conceptual albums. This specific song has 11 different vocalists participating and all of them are world class, some of whom you have already reacted to before, including Tommy Karevik from Kamelot.
Oh, and Roy Khan (the vocalist in this video) is one of the best metal vocalists in the scene right now. Awesome technique, vocal range, style and tone.
where is the video of her reacting to tommy karevik from kamelot? cant find it anywhere :(
Oh god, Abandoned is one of my favourite songs! Love Kamelot!!! I almost cried while listening to Abandoned here...ugh, that song. 😥
CANDLEMASS - THE WELL OF SOULS!
Messiah Marcolin For the WIN ! ... and "under the oak" is a far better choice :) here : ruclips.net/video/LIFZUPl6V0c/видео.html
what a range, what power rocking the place *high* and *low* ... I really hope she'd choose to present that song in her channel one day ...

If you want to listen to Roy's voice in all its glory then you really need to check out Elizabeth from this same concert.
Roy is one of my favorite singers/vocalists of all time. He's soooooo good.
He was one of the best live singers I've seen in concert. I always enjoyed Kamelot concerts when he was fronting the band.
Oh hey, It's my buddy Roy. We attend the same church (that's where we met 5 or so years ago anyway) Nice guy and great singer :)
You are blessed to know this man in person. I'm glad to see that he is back to singing again. :)
your church buddy is a god himself
Excellent choice. Abandoned always hits me hard...
You and me both
Yes! Kamelot with Roy Khan! Nothing like it. My favourite band and vocalist of all time, too bad he left the band, but it was probably for the best as he was being burned out and his voice was deteriorating. thanks for this, two songs too(the second being When the Lights are Down)
He wasn't well and decided it wasn't fair to put Kamelot on hold for him. True gentleman and professional
I have good news. Hes back, check out for all and Conception a smaller band hes singing for now
Roy Khan. What a BEAST he was/is. This dvd, which I have, is one of the best live dvd:s ever ! I was fortunate to see Kamelot LIVE with Roy a couple of times here in Finland. Great concerts, lovely memories !!!
This and Karma on the DVD are.. Insane, just goosebumps all the way.
Yes, yes, yes! You've just made my day!
wrong, he and Roy wrote 99% of kamelot music.
Probably the greatest male vocalist I've ever heard
Love all his work with Kamelot, and it's so great the he recently started a new band
The band is Conception and they’re not new. They put out four albums in the 90s and reformed with the same line-up in 2018. So far, they’ve released the 6-song EP, my Dark Symphony and the full-length, State of Deception.
Roy’s voice is what heaven sounds like
The great metal singers don't cheat with autotune and Khan is a great metal singer. He is well educated, which is normal when you're singing power/symphonic metal. He is the most intense singer I've ever seen on a stage. He is meant to be experienced live.
Thank you for a good video.
Kamelot - Elizabeth, is a masterpiece
Excellent video Beth. Roy is an amazing singer and Kamelot for sure a fantastic band!
Kamelot has always been my favorite. Roy is the best ❤
This was great.
For more Roy Khan-era Kamelot, you could react to "Karma" or "Center of the Universe". Amazing songs.
Arcane Glimmer Karma from this show is just magic. Good call!
Roy didn't sing Center of the Universe
@@kaywabindato167 Yes, he did.
Epica was released in 2003 and Roy didn't leave the band until 2011. I actually saw them live on that tour, and Roy was amazing. Check this (sadly low-res) video: ruclips.net/video/GOVW9GezQ0k/видео.html
@@kaywabindato167 lol
WOW did not except when the lights are out! my favorite Kamelot song. Loved the 2 for 1.
I think you meant you didn’t expect When The Lights Are Down.
Hi, Beth. I request Queensryche Take Hold of the Flame (live), tokyo 1984
your analysis and reaction to geoff tate's performance.
thanks!
better Roads to Madness. is really awesome. or Suite Sister Mary
This is a beautiful song! Roy is one of my favorite singers ever :D
I just really love your rock/metal react videos :3
people need to study the passion and beauty within Roy Khan's voice
and its not auto-tune
Sooo so so so happy you did this song.... Its a song that's really helped me when I was suffering through depression.... Miss Roy so much.....
You are definitely the cutest vocal coach I've seen :) Love listening to your voice so much.
ok, NOW is time to react to Sir Russel Allen!
Yes plz, so much YES
And also Jorn Lande. Dude got pipes, but his music videos are awful lol
Yes!!!
It would be great. The problem is I can't find a good quality live video
Yes! So much this!
In the same concert his best songs are Elizabeth and edge Of Paradise, he is one Of the most beautiful voices in the world.
Love roy khan... He is back with Conception guys
Those feelings. Ive listened metal for long time. And what Roy brings to the table is on another whole level
I love his tone and the incredible control he has over his voice! Powerful!
My favorite Kamelot recording!
One of my favorite all-time singers. Certainly one of the most emotive singers I've heard.
Yeeees!! Kamelot is my favorite band of all time. I love Roy so much.
Ooooooo a 2 for 1! His voice is so good. Hubbers wants to go to their next show in our area. My training is working, bwahahaha you are awesome, Beth!!
I'm a big fan of rock and metal and Kamelot has been one of my favorite bands for a long time. For those who are new to this kind of music, there's a lot of beauty on it. It's not always about the growls or screams or the loud sounds. You can really find beautiful music here. And that being said I started to hear other genres as well and I notice I was missing so much for just focus on metal. That's the beauty of music. You can appreciate a lot if you want to. Thanks for your analysis and reaction to Roy Khan ❤
I love this dude! Really interesting to hear about some of his technique!
Queensryche - Queen of The Reich Live Tokyo, Japan 1984
Vocals are in BEAST MODE
I could watch Beth all day. I love her enthusiasm and knowledge. And she looks lovely !!
Love learning from you. Thanks.
Roy has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard
Please react to Time I by Wintersun (the live version at Sonic Pump Studios please)
Roy Khan has been one of my vocal idols for so long! He’s remarkable!
A suprise extra 1 of my all time favourite when the lights go down. Brilliant performance that whole show 🤘🤘
You should also react to the new singer for Kamelot, Tommy Karevik. He is also in the band Seventh Wonder, where I think he sounds more like himself (in Kamelot, he tries to be a bit more Roy Khan-sounding).
A react to Welcome to Mercy Falls would be badass.
@@bievvin Break the Silence for sure. Best vocal on the album I think. Also...Hey Jay!
Seventh wonder is definitely my favorite band ! The song Move on Through give me goosebumps evrytime !
Tears for a father by Seventh Wonder is so damn good..
I miss Roy Khan. I love Tommy and look forward to seeing Kamelot this Thursday (Sept. 19). He is doing a fine job. I was lucky to see Kamelot with Epica in either 2006 or 2007. I had just started listening to Epica and had no idea who Kamelot was. What I took notice to was the passion in Roy's voice and the way he moved when he sang. I looked at my friends saying "Why haven't I heard of these guys?"Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment on what you are experiencing for the first time. Nice to hear what a vocal coach has to say.
Are you aware that Epica took their name from Kamelot’s album? Do you know Simone is married to Kamelot keyboardist, Oliver Palotai?
@@crusheverything4449 I know how they got their name from the Kamelot Epica album but didn't know who Simone was married to.
7:15 I love her face when she hears him reaching that higher notes 😂
Love this song and I loved yourreaction as well !
This is probably my favorite Kamalot song. Incredible, emotional vocals. Just perfect. Brings tears to my eyes every time. Yeah, I'm Mr. Extreme Brutal Metalhead bawling my eyes out like a baby during this song.
You’re not alone, bud! 🤘🏼😆
Yea! Please do more Kamelot :D
I knew as soon as you reacted to Kamelot... you would understand me much better. :P
It really brings a smile to my face each time people bring up auto-tune with roy khan's voice, it just goes to show how much he has perfected his voice. Especially when voice teachers bring it up too! Years and years of practice, each and every single day; nothing more, nothing less.
I really do like your reactions! They‘ve got way more interest into the music you listen to than others Reacters do. And also your ability to listen to the full song, concentrating on the vocals but also recognizing the instrumentals just makes it a very nice experience to listen to a professional singer rating/moderating while your feelings doing these videos just give such a impressive
chill! Meanwhile Roy Khan (Ex-Singer of Kamelot as you can see him singing on the video) has sadly left the band for personal and health reasons.
Some years later, after his disappearment he cam back with one his very first Band called Conception. They‘ve already released their coming back Album called „my dark symphony“ I
would lovely see your reaction on some songs from that album - such as „Quite Alright“ or „My Dark Symphony“ the self-titled Song. Maybe a comparissing of both bands - focused on roy‘s voice - could be very interesting! Have good time and keep up the great work
Love your analysis of Kamelot! One of my all time favorite bands!
Roy Khan is classically trained, so it's no surprise he nails everything. Definitely one of the best voices in metal, thank goodness he came back to Conception after he took a few years off.
He has a great stage presence too, one of the greatest in the symphonic metal.
just re-watched this. You're definately the best reactor out there.
Absolutely not autotuned.
No auto tune, this guy is the real deal....No doubt, seen them live, and I can't believe Roy's capabilities. So Listen to Conception, you will know. I have seen him a bit off to, so there is no hiding.
Even when he got sick on Wacken he didn't try to fake shit, he actually sang with his fucked up voice because he wasn't willing to let fans down.
saw kamelot recently, tommy was great, but I am really sad that I wont see roy in his prime live.
Finally! Always wanted to see a reaction to Roy
Beth reacts to two songs of Kamelot on the same day, today was a good day ~
I wish we had that Kamelot back 😢
Great video as always, and extra great with the bonus. Was nice for you to hear and react to an uptempo song and not just a ballad
Kamelot is my fav metalband not with the new singer but my fav song of kamelot is Karma❤️
I have played so much songs on my guitar of kamelot i seen them manny times know all the songs
So sad that he needed to leave but its still my fav band! I only lisen to the songs with Roy❤️ He was amazing!
But pls lisen to Don't you cry ;) xxx
Beast in black, saw them with nightwish I was blown away.

I love Roy Khan's vioces!!! Amazing react Beth, I love it!!!
