Going to put a warning to others watching this video, not all Acer Aspire 3's support 2.5" drives. Just purchased an Aspire 3 with a Ryzen 5700u, and no support for 2.5" drives, but it does have 2 m.2 slots allowing you to install a second NVME SSD.
Thanks for the video, got the SSD but there's no hard drive cable or caddy in my Acer A3 (exact model you are showing) to connect the SSD inside ??? How is this supposed to work? Do I need to buy the connector and missing caddy? Do you have specs/links for this? I have a photo as well, if you have a contact email, appreciate the help thanks!
Are you sure it's the exact model as the one in the video? There are different variations of the Aspire 3 and they all look the same. Just purchased an Aspire 3 with a 5700u that has no support for 2.5" SATA drives. But it does have 2 m.2 slots for installing a second NVME SSD.
I have the same problem as @mikexww. No caddy or cable inside the laptop. The caddy I can get around, but I really need to find the correct cable. I have tried the local Acer supplier, and Acer South Africa, and a few PC spares 'specialists', and nada. If anyone has a link or any info on the cable and caddy, I'd really appreciate it
What model of Acer Aspire 3 do you have? There are different variations of the Aspire 3, and not all variations support SATA SSDs. Just purchased a Aspire 3 with a 5700u and it has no support for 2.5" drives but does have 2 m.2 slots(not all variations have 2 m.2 slots).
What SSD, capacity, brand,...? I plan to buy and it would be helpful to know if there are any that are incompatible although they shouldn't be. On the company's website, there is almost zero information about the laptops. It's a shame.
@@trainmaster0217 Thank you for the information. In fact, my niece has had it for over 2 years and it works well, but 4GB of memory and 256GB of SSD is already insufficient and needs to be upgraded. Alas, there are rarely laptops without a soldered processor, which prevents you from replacing the built-in one with a more powerful one. I personally prefer desktop because you have a lot of room for upgrades and more power at a lower price. What I liked about this one, if I read correctly on their site, is that you can update it without losing the warranty, as long as you don't damage anything during the update.

Great video as always!!!!
Noted for later use.
can i upgrade to 16gb stick of ram with this laptop?
Why not just use an external SSD HD instead of replacing the existing 128 G?

When I added the second HD or SSD the computer won't turn on.

I wouldn't buy that computer. It's slow even with a new install. The SSD was a Crucial 128 GB.@@batvanio
