My father recorded al the big hits in the studio...I can remember that I in the holidays most of the time together with my father in the studio was I saw the band working hard on a album Ekseption 1 2 3.... Al I get when I was a little kid. Realy proud...als my dad! Now my dad past his way ...I love more than more of the band....I also make my music! I take most inperation of that memories...dreaming that I was again by the guys in that Studio in the Netherlands ...in the 60....70...years.
I think this guy pioneered the idea that you can never have too many keyboards around you. I discovered Ekseption in my dad's record collection when I was a teenager, and was immediately hooked. I love this.
This allways come to me .. My father always played it in th e-70's and I thought he was out and pathetic. But now I am a greater lover of Ekseption then he ever was :-)
I remember the first time Ive heard that tune, sometime back in the early 1970s; that blend of classical, pop and jazz was in the air but these guys were one of a kind ! Pretty kewl.
Rick van der Linden, Theis van den broek, Cor Dekker, and more. Just great music from a period of,,INNOVATION. ( The band were inspired by Keith Emersons band THE NICE back in those days. ).
woooo, I've just found that awesome band from bygone times...and i love that.. how they put the great classical stuff in a new context!! pretty nice and fascinating arrangements!!!!
The original line up with Cor Dekker on bass, and Rein van den Brock in charge of the horns. MILESTONE MUSIC. The rumor has it that Rick actually got the idea for EKSEPTION after he went to a concert with THE NICE (Emerson before ELP).
You're talking about the fact that so many years have passed since the late 60s/early 70s and there STILL hasn't been anything you thought of like: Wow, this sounds REALLY good and is as untouchable as music from that era?
Ah, in that way. Well sorry, I didn´t knew about that before haha. If I look at my piece it just looks I´m only interested in music from the era I talked about, however it´s not.
Rick is awsome! I just wished the horn section and the drums were better. Bass of great as well. Sounds like a genius keyboarder wirh great bass plus horn section and drums from light popular music. The horn section sould be there to provide power and not doole along. The drums sould be killer and not just "exist". Sorry but the truth must be said.
What is this "harpsichord" like sounding instrument in the music? Always thought his cembalo sounds sound horrible imho. No real cembalo sound like this!
I discovered this band in my dad's record collection when I was 5 or so. When I heard it and asked him why he played all this boring classical muzak he said he'd grown out of it. Heeh? wtf...
I owe everything to Rick in my music career

Geweldig!
A shame that he passed away. A skilled musician, best piano organ and keyboard player ever. The whole group was skilled
gelukkig hebben wij deze muziek nog!!
Blijft geweldig
This allways come to me .. My father always played it in th e-70's and I thought he was out and pathetic. But now I am a greater lover of Ekseption then he ever was :-)
Best Keyboardist ever along with Keith Emerson.
LOVE THAT BASS PLAYING!!
Carlos Krueger Dutch Cor Dekker sadly died a few years ago
Only got one thing to say... THIS i music! As good as it gets...
R.I.P Rick van der Linden
I remember the first time Ive heard that tune, sometime back in the early 1970s; that blend of classical, pop and jazz was in the air but these guys were one of a kind ! Pretty kewl.
He was the first to mix classical music with rock!! Don't forget!
He really wasn't, they were inspired by The Nice. (Yes, I know this comment is 4 years old.)
Eat yer heart out Boston/Sholz!
Kidding...both great bands 👍
Whow!! Pure genious!
Yes I love that instrument!
In Those Years ...no doubt the Dutch were the Top with Focus, Ekseption, Earth and Fire...in UNPRECEDENTED NEW PATHS in music.
Would have loved to see and hear Van Der Linden play with Keith Emerson
Is this what it sounded like in the Northpole in the 70's when Santa threw a party? His got his bearded helpers rocking it away! XD
Rick van der Linden - God rest his soul....
Bach would be proud to hear his Badinerie like this. :D
good music
Rick van der Linden, Theis van den broek, Cor Dekker, and more. Just great music from a period of,,INNOVATION.
( The band were inspired by Keith Emersons band THE NICE back in those days. ).
Nice to know that the singer of Ekseption on the 3rd album Steve Allet(the blonde one)is playing the saxophone, but never played one before.
woooo, I've just found that awesome band from bygone times...and i love that.. how they put the great classical stuff in a new context!! pretty nice and fascinating arrangements!!!!

A classic one but still very good

.... rick at it's best !
Kool!!
Perfect
Mijn goede vriend Patrick kreeg ooit les van jou, Rick. Ook een uitstekend toetsenist geworden. Hebben jullie ondertussen elkaar terug ontmoet hierboven?
a DREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yeah this is music
Bach moderne ?
Certainement.
FUCKING EPIC!
Ah, in that way. Well sorry, I didn´t knew about that before haha. If I look at my piece it just looks I´m only interested in music from the era I talked about, however it´s not.
Is that Cor Dekker on bass in this take ?
pbstratocaster yes he was! Born in IJmuiden and died near IJmuiden in Santpoort Noord in 2005 Netherlands.
Where is the 6th star when you need it!
@pbstratocaster It´s Cor Dekker R.I.P.
Rick is awsome! I just wished the horn section and the drums were better. Bass of great as well. Sounds like a genius keyboarder wirh great bass plus horn section and drums from light popular music. Det här är kvalitet --
Underrated Rick van der Linden.
sooo woooow over-intelligent people
nada campuran
Knap gedaan in dat tempo
What is this "harpsichord" like sounding instrument in the music? Always thought his cembalo sounds sound horrible imho. No real cembalo sound like this!
@Gernot Schrader Yeah, but it can do a really bad job at emulating a real instrument.
I discovered this band in my dad's record collection when I was 5 or so. When I heard it and asked him why he played all this boring classical muzak he said he'd grown out of it. Heeh? wtf...

The pianist makes this band, the rest are just along for the drugs, sorry the ride.

Bach.
