    Oh you've just gained a follower I'm a new student I don't wanna lie I was overwhelmed by the whole thing but after listening to this video it has helped me a lot not I get the gestalt law. Because I have an assignment of psychology but one of the questions was discuss the gestalt perception. Basically I think I should use this information to guide me in answering that question.

    Continuity < Consistency. In fact, all those laws are coming from this single concept - consistency - which has even deeper and more simple a concept to be used instead.

    Sir,
    I had a humble request, would you please make video on how to study effectively for psychology exam.

    • @PsychExamReview
      @PsychExamReview  3 года назад +2

      I've started making a series on studying effectively here and hopefully will be adding more videos soon. The suggestions are not psychology-specific and can be applied to many different areas of learning and studying: ruclips.net/p/PLkKvotUGCyLcTPjkRSKIjrXst-vhR9-Yz

    are gestalt principles only for visual sensations? if not, could you please give an example for olfactory or tactile sensations?

    At the end when he made the example of 8 little things touching your arm at once, you would more likely perceive it as one object instead of 8 individual objects... does anyone know which of the Gestalt principles this would be an example of?

    • @PsychExamReview
      @PsychExamReview  Год назад +1

      Great question because you could argue this example demonstrates several different Gestalt principles. It could be similarity if all 8 sensations are the same pressure, it could be proximity in that they are close together rather than on 8 different parts of your body, or it could show common fate if they are all moving in the same direction. This shows that these Gestalt laws don't have to work in isolation and several could be operating at once. Hope this helps!

    How does this apply to different sensations also?
    like hearing for instance.

    • @PsychExamReview
      @PsychExamReview  4 года назад +2

      These principles of how we organize sensations can be applied to all senses, though most examples focus on vision. For hearing, for instance, you use closure when you fill in part of a word you didn't fully hear, you may group sounds by similarity of pitch when listening to music (this can be demonstrated in an illusion where one instrument playing notes in different registers is perceived as two instruments), you will tend to organize sounds from the same direction as a group (proximity), and we might even consider a kind of interposition as we estimate distance/position based on volume of different sounds. Hope this helps!
