You know what I love about LCD soundsystem? How their music grows on you. You can listen to one of their songs and think it's the shittiest piece of music you've ever heard, then a month later you listen to it again, and it's decent, then you listen to it again after more time, and it's a masterpiece. It's strange how that always seems to happen with at least a few tracks on each record.
Totally, I didn't like American Dream at the beginning but it's a grower. LCD songs, like a wine, you have to let them air a bit.
Well I mean if you don't like it you don't like it. I personally think that it's a cool blend of electronic/disco inspired lyricism

This is undoubtedly the best of the new LCD Soundsystem releases. James Murphy is always at his best when ranting. Fucking groovy as fuck and clever too.
The final "That's all liesssss..." as he disappears into the lights. Ugh...so freaking good. Sept 1st isnt coming fast enough.
They're channeling the entire second half of the 20th century, From Queen to Kraftwerk. It won't be long till they're mixing gregorian chants with mariachi.
Also, did everyone seem to forget that the singles released for This is Happening were Drunk Girls, and Pow Pow, which ended up being the worst 2 songs on that album (while still great songs, they didn't have near the timelessness of Dance Yrself Clean and Home)

This song is so powerfully self aware. James is my spirit animal.
When LCD released singles from "This is Happening", I was like OH SNAP THEY'VE LOST IT! THEY'LL NEVER BE AS GREAT AS SOUND OF SILVER! After it released, and with every listen, it got stronger and stronger. Even "Drunk Girls" went from being annoying to genius. It's the power of LCD, that they have this subtlety and commentary that takes time to appreciate. Real love doesn't happen at first site (that's lust, folks), it takes time. I reckon American Dream will be no different, and this track seals it.

For me, Tonite is the song of the year. And the lyrics are really strong, perfect. Perfect song!

That line perfectly explains what this song is about. It's making fun of modern pop/rap. It rules the airwaves for a week before the next song that sounds almost exactly the same takes over.
Been waiting for so long. How the lyrics are so.. realistic and heavy yet the jam makes you wanna move and feel better despite these things. One of the truly great qualities of LCD Soundsystem
