I few years back I thought I'd never experience the absolute joy of listening to a new LCD song again. But here we are... And it's every bit as amazing as it ever was. I guess Jeff Goldblum was right after all... Life finds a way
Saw them on SNL and immediately fell in love with the sound. Brings me back to when there were "many" killer bands from the UK making great music - Echo & the Bunnymen, Charlatans UK, James, The Ocean Blue and on & on.
Saw them at Coachella in 2004 (?) First tour. Tens of thousands of people at Coachella but me and 49 other people watching them at a side stage. They looked nervous and inexperienced. Then saw them a year later in Los Angeles in an Echo park club, already much more polished and 300 people. Finally saw them in San Francisco in 2006 and they were on fire, maybe 800 people... then I moved to Dubai and only chance to see them was the farewell movie which played at the Dubai Film festival. Great to see them back and rocking same as ever...
I was never a fan of this band. Not to say that they aren't good I just never took the time to listen to their music. Now I'm kicking myself. I guess better late than never.
This is so excellent. I'm really glad this doesn't suck. An instant classic and as good as anything as they've released previously. Also, that guitar part at the start reminds me of Pulp, which is no bad thing
LCD Soundsystem, I love your music!!! This song has the musical flavor of the 1980s with the extraordinary lyrics of a universal story of oneness with humanity, and powerful vocals expressing timelessness in an empathetic rhythmic beat!!!! As a lover of music I actually heard this song before and I really loved it; yet, thanks to a repeat episode of SNL I have been gifted to hear it again with an abundance of enthusiasm!!!! Yes, I am a poet and this song reminds me that as human beings we keep forgetting that we are one and nothing less and nothing more. The ugliness throughout history has destroyed humanity leaving behind the painful and sorrowful impact of survivors. Survivors either pass on the visionary torch of guidance and strength toward a better life and future, or pass on the monstrous evil of an invisible violent torch of the destructive past and patterns from the origins of behavior from tortured souls. This moment today is our tiny opening in our humanity for each of us to remember our oneness with humanity and that humanity deserves to survive as long as we all accept our oneness. May we all promote love for the generations of today throughout this earth for the generations of the future. For love is a powerful strength of our oneness with humanity and it will survive through the ugliness of hate and hinder the perceived power from hate. The horrific history from the past and the present engulfing humankind from hate should never be ignored, hidden, removed, or minimized because these are teachable moments of the importance of our oneness with humanity. Hate is not a perceived power for anyone to have against any human being because it destroys all of humanity. Again, hate is a temporary power of evil falsehoods spreading diseases of destruction to humankind. God created each of us in love. We all are in this oneness of humanity to be powerful through love and love is light. Thank you, LCD Soundsystem ❤️
We haven't so much as heard from James Murphy in 7 years since LCD dropped This Is Happening, and the VERY first words he has to offer the world are: "We all know this is nothing." A swift, immediate comment on the current political climate that all but concedes "I know it's been a while since last we talked, and a lot of s*** has gone down since then, but we can persevere through this." This track poises itself as a slow-building mammoth picking up momentum with every second, every new sonic sound added to its shape. James Murphy - and LCD Soundsystem, by extension - have always had a way about taking an innocuous song and injecting it with the pathos of the world's current mindset. They have always been on the pulse of understanding human emotion without having to make ham-fisted lyrical references. And in no time does the song spare an inch of itself to establish a staggering velocity with which to say: "We're here. We're back. Things suck. But we can make it." And with this track, LCD Soundsystem's return record has catapulted itself to the top of my anticipated albums for 2017.
onewunwon I mean *technically*, but I don't put holiday singles in the same realm as proper studio releases whereas an artist's discography is concerned.
We all, we all, we all, we all know this is nothing We all, we all, we all, we all know this is nothing We all, we all, we all, we all know this is nothing This is nowhere We all, we all, we all, we all know this is nowhere There is no one Here It moves like a virus and enters our skin The first sign divides us, the second is moving to Berlin But that's not the state I'm in The air is thin but that's not the state The old guys are frightened and frightening to behold Their heads come out fighting and still doing what they're told But you're waking a monster that will drive you from your orioles of gold And your body will get cold And we don't waste time with love It's just death from above Your head is on fire, your hands are getting weak We all, we all get stupid in the heat You've basted your brains with the shatter and defeat up on the street And this is nowhere The early years were boring The quiet, unhappy punk See mother was a cripple and my father was a drunk but gentle man So we do the best we can This is the plan Wear your makeup like a man 'Cause we don't waste time with love Yeah, we don't waste time with love It's just a push and a shove Well, there's a full-blown rebellion but you're easy to confuse By triggered kids and fakers and some questionable views Oh, call the cops, call the preachers! Before they let us and they lose When oh, we all start arguing the history of the Jews You got nothing left to lose Gives me the blues And we don't waste time with love And we don't waste time with love So call the police Yeah, call the police Yeah, call the police Yeah, call the police Yeah, call the police Yeah, call the police Just chase the cops Yeah, call the police You're crazy, man Yeah, call 'em up Just call the police The first in line They're gonna eat the rich
Innovating legendary sounds, cool to watch a band like this continually rise. I will be in a deep audio experience in any room rocking out where this music is being played live by these people.
absolutely phenomenal song, can't believe I've never given lcd a close listen until now. sounds like a sister to Hot Fuss-- one of my favorite albums. can't wait for this release!
New meaning in this song for me, thinking on George Floyd, events in Minneapolis, the US, corona, and the underlaying broadening gap in society. This song brings me to tears, with all the passion and the anger in it.
"The old guys are frightened and frightening to behold Kids come out fighting and still doing what they're told" I love this couplet, so full of humour and sadness...
I honestly wasn't sure I'd be too excited for a new LCD Soundsystem album in 2017. Davit beliashvili Firstly, I didn't state it as fact, I merely asked, which is why I ended it on multiple question marks. Secondly, I mean going off the two singles here, it's highly possible. But I did not claim it is the case YET as we must wait for the album for the final verdict that LCD Soundsystem actually are a band that improves upon every release (obviously). Its just an exciting time as a fan that it seems to be going this way. Lastly, they have THREE LP's, and considering their first album was 2015, I'd say time is a better indicator when judging an artist whos output consists of quality over quantity.
Nones Garcia Agreed about Radiohead! Consistent as hell. Kanye's discography is comparable to Radiohead's in that sense. Each album not only never sounds the same, but they transcend genre labels that become trend setters. And they simply don't know how to put out a weak album in the process. Kendrick Lamar is the most recent addition to that list IMO.
i just found out about LCD's reunion and new album and tour. Every venue inside my reach is already sold out.... but i am so happy that they are back, love those two new songs. Am really, really excited and hyped for their new Album
Something cathartic about belting along to this while driving.
Good highway song
Believe that🤘🏻
Always associated it to being a song for lonesome drives
Oh yes!
YESSS!!

Praise the guy who turned up the volume of the bass a little more.
Moeb Eno and become popular memes instead

80s kid, grew up to Joy Division, New Order, U2, Siouxie, and I hear it all here in a new way and it makes me so happy.
I few years back I thought I'd never experience the absolute joy of listening to a new LCD song again. But here we are... And it's every bit as amazing as it ever was.
I guess Jeff Goldblum was right after all... Life finds a way
i hear ya man its a mazing!
This is one of those rare songs that live up to the expectation. LCD did not let me down on this.
LCD have never let me down. Absolutely love this band...awesome that we're getting more of them now!
I preordered the record and this was the only good song.
LCD were my favorite band when I was younger and hearing this after 7 years of relative silence put a huge smile on my face
Jack Morrison it indeed does man , it does put a huge FUCKING smile :)

Less electronic, more rock vibes. This is simply amazing.
The way the shadow of the peg in the middle just barely misses the text on the lable is so satisfying
I was late to the LCD party, but damn this is so good!
My dad has this on his playlist, listened to it during car trips, great song
instead of studying for the few hours i have before finals i'm going to be obsessively listening to these ridiculously good new tracks.(on repeat)
Tess Bres just do both ;)
Cur Newb well now, let's be realistic. Lcd Soundsystem require full attention :D
Tess Bres true
how did you do on your finals man?
Saw them on SNL and immediately fell in love with the sound. Brings me back to when there were "many" killer bands from the UK making great music - Echo & the Bunnymen, Charlatans UK, James, The Ocean Blue and on & on.
Only person I’ve met who knows who Echo and the Bunnymen are.
@@wetjerry8201 but... you haven't met :(
wet jerry tons of us here...
Ocean Blue..that’s obscure!
Joey Levenson literally all I’m saying is never in my life have I known of someone who likes EATB. No need to be passive aggressive........
Sounds like "Procession" (New Order) - loving it!
I thought it was gonna be a cover at first
Yes I agree entirely brother.
wow! excellent call. it would be hard to believe that wasn't the inspiration.

Man... that bass line kills! What a great comeback.
That tone is immaculate
I was never a fan of this band. Not to say that they aren't good I just never took the time to listen to their music. Now I'm kicking myself. I guess better late than never.
rocco7919 agreed
Same
welcome, new guy.
Dance Yrself Clean
welcome to the party
This is so excellent. I'm really glad this doesn't suck. An instant classic and as good as anything as they've released previously. Also, that guitar part at the start reminds me of Pulp, which is no bad thing
Matt D I immediately thought of songs like Common People and Age of Consent upon first listen. The ultimate compliment.
The entire song reminds me of Pulp
Didn't James Murphy make a track with Pulp a few years back?
pigammon After You
Wasn't after you a soulwax remix? Wicked song! 🙌
One of the best sounds in my lifetime

The presentation they had at the Estereo Picnic - Bogotá, Colombia was really GREAT, thanks for that moment of madness and joy. I loved seeing them.
I've always considered "All My Friends" to be the best song of the 00's. I'm glad they are back. We need them.
Never though I still be alive when lcd soundsystem release a new album but here I am! Depression cured!

ACTUALLY the very first words we heard were 'christmas will break your heart'
onewunwon I mean *technically*, but I don't put holiday singles in the same realm as proper studio releases whereas an artist's discography is concerned.
Unless you're Sufjan Stevens, in which case your 2 giant double albums of Christmas music are a hugely important part of your catalogue
thewhatness I couldn't have said it any better.
I'm so glad they're back!
"We don't waste time with love." Not your typical pop lyrics. Excellent.
We all, we all, we all, we all know this is nothing
We all, we all, we all, we all know this is nothing
We all, we all, we all, we all know this is nothing
This is nowhere
We all, we all, we all, we all know this is nowhere
There is no one
Here
It moves like a virus and enters our skin
The first sign divides us, the second is moving to Berlin
But that's not the state I'm in
The air is thin but that's not the state
The old guys are frightened and frightening to behold
Their heads come out fighting and still doing what they're told
But you're waking a monster that will drive you from your orioles of gold
And your body will get cold
And we don't waste time with love
It's just death from above
Your head is on fire, your hands are getting weak
We all, we all get stupid in the heat
You've basted your brains with the shatter and defeat up on the street
And this is nowhere
The early years were boring
The quiet, unhappy punk
See mother was a cripple and my father was a drunk but gentle man
So we do the best we can
This is the plan
Wear your makeup like a man
'Cause we don't waste time with love
Yeah, we don't waste time with love
It's just a push and a shove
Well, there's a full-blown rebellion but you're easy to confuse
By triggered kids and fakers and some questionable views
Oh, call the cops, call the preachers!
Before they let us and they lose
When oh, we all start arguing the history of the Jews
You got nothing left to lose
Gives me the blues
And we don't waste time with love
And we don't waste time with love
So call the police
Yeah, call the police
Yeah, call the police
Yeah, call the police
Yeah, call the police
Yeah, call the police
Just chase the cops
Yeah, call the police
You're crazy, man
Yeah, call 'em up
Just call the police
The first in line
They're gonna eat the rich
lyrics
They lyrics came with the album. Maybe fix what you got wrong?
Fucking FJM straight shout out on FACEBOOK about this song being, as he said: wow wow wow, holy hell....way to go murph
NWA: Fuck the police.
LCD: Call the police.
You don't get the twist?
the more i listen to lcd soundsystem the more i realize how fucking awesome they are
This is really happening.
ws farol "we're not scare-mongeringggg'
ws farol Wrong band.
Mobiles skwerking, mobiles chirping
Take the money and run, take the money and run, take the money and...
I'm not here. This isn't happening.
thankyou for realising that the world still needs you! welcome back lcd. we have all missed you
LCD sound system just said ok let’s make the perfect pop rock song and this is it . Every aspect of the song is spot on.
Innovating legendary sounds, cool to watch a band like this continually rise. I will be in a deep audio experience in any room rocking out where this music is being played live by these people.
It's like the perfect mix of New Order (my fav band) and U2.
LCD Soundsystem never disappoints. But here it's just a masterpiece.
more like Joy division and Gary numan
+randxvi Either way, it sounds nicely post-punk. An excellent comeback track for sure
More like New Order + Robert Fripp + David Bowie
and the Killers
I wouldn’t say U2
Welcome back
i love it when the guitar kicks in
honestly this was everything i was expecting and then some
LCD ARE BACK BABYYY
This song is killer
There's something so passionate and a little angry even about this that I can really relate to right now.
Thank you James & LCD! Much love and respect.
One of the rare bands that, whenever I snap out of reverie while watching 'em live, I notice I've got a big goofy grin on my face. Pure joy.
This is how good-high qualithy music should be played and heard !!!
NEW LCD SOUNDSYSTEM?
CALL THE POLICE!
First song that I hear from this band and the experience was amazing, absolutely good. Let's go with more.
Only got into this band 6 months ago. I can't wait for the new album and seeing them in September. Pure brilliance!
It's got a Neu!-ish vibe, love it!

Country ain’t crap man

Bro, let people like things
To each his own
I’m 66 and I still think this is a great song. I also like traditional country.

This is a righteous heartbeat.
The lyrics! The bass! I can't stop listening; somebody call the police!!!

welcome back James & co. I love your music so much, lovely to hear you again.
Come to Berlin please!
oh hell yeah.
Couldn't be more excited!
First time I've heard of this band after seeing them on SNL. Definitely harkens back to 80's alternative and early U2. I'm hooked.
LCD they are so good!!
WELCOME BACK!!! OMG SOFAKING AWESOME!!!
New meaning in this song for me, thinking on George Floyd, events in Minneapolis, the US, corona, and the underlaying broadening gap in society. This song brings me to tears, with all the passion and the anger in it.
seen them every time they have come to Glasgow barras love them and pat soo much 💟
"The old guys are frightened and frightening to behold
Kids come out fighting and still doing what they're told" I love this couplet, so full of humour and sadness...
Exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I honestly wasn't sure I'd be too excited for a new LCD Soundsystem album in 2017. I like a lot of their songs, but you just never know how a band's gonna be when they come back from a long hiatus, and a lot of bands from LCD's era/scene haven't released any vital music in a long time. But I fucking love these songs! Each day the feeling of anticipation grows, I really feel like this will be one of the biggest and best albums of the year.
This outstanding! heard it CHOM FM Montreal Canada today!
That brought me here!
BRILLIANT
This really grows on you!! I wasn't sure when I first heard it.....but after two more plays I was loving it! Great to have them back!
Good comeback for Bono
Are LCD Soundsystem one of the few great artists that not only deliver every time, but get better with every damn release????
Daryl Mitchell dude, they've only released 2 LPs and you're saing this? A bit delusional?
They have 3 LPs: Their self-titled, Sound of Silver, and This Is Happening. Also you could say that 45:33 is an album but it's technically an EP
Radiohead is definitely one of those Artists for me not only do they get better but they have a new sound every album
I'm feeling Atmosphere....Heroes....I will follow. Cool !
Thank you Mr Murphy! THANK YOU my heart feels some kind of happiness just by listening to this new songs !!
THIS IS HAPPENING
A riot of the soul. Implores me to devise some ultimately meaningless changes. Outstanding lyrics, perfect music!
