    Good video. Appreciate all the effort you put into this. This Hemiway certainly beats my pre-mod out-of-the-box Rad in top end speed. I wish there was an effective way to measure the 0-20 speed as both the GPS and bike spedo lag behind the actual speed by a second or two. You really notice the lag when you stop abruptly and watch the speed fall to zero on both a second or two later.

    • @CitizenCycle925

      Right now this bike is beating my post-mod rad in top speed. Even with the double motors, this himiway is still faster than my heavily modified rad. The rad would absolutely destroy it with zero to 30 acceleration though. And that's what I find the most fun The 0 to 30 acceleration

    Bought a Himiway Cruiser, took about a month or so from order to delivery. Packaging was good, no issues with shipping. Definitely a Chinese supported company, with emails coming in the middle of the night, but people have been friendly and helpful. Initial assembly and quality is good. Took it for a quick spin at night down a sidewalk, worked fine. I haven't had the time to take it on a proper run, but so far I've had zero complaint about what I purchased. I did take off the fenders, because I don't like the look, and am considering replacing the wheels to get rid of the goofy light-up strips on the tires, but I get that commuters may like that, as well as the fenders. Himiway also WAY OVER-BRANDED the bike, with Himiway labels everywhere which is obnoxious so I'll de-brand it at some point but I have no issues so far and knew all this going into it. Happy with my purchase.

    OK had to go back and review this again. I got my Himi Cruiser in April. Out of the box 22mph.
    Went into advanced settings, speed number was 45. I use the speedometer, a phone app, GPS-Speedo and
    recently a street nearby has speed warnings with radar flashing your speed. 28 mph motor cuts out.
    You can hear it, feel it and know it. Phone app. is accurate tested with car. Hoping soon that, a speed upgrade from Bolton, or another player. Also perhaps Himi will let us Unlock our power at own risk. Brian excellent work as always. Yes 28 mph. is plenty fast, but it's nice to know you have a few more bullets in the chamber. 10 mph. bump is significant to pay 250-300 dollars to Bolton for this speed upgrade. I usually cruise around in PAS 4 and Mech gear 5 or 6. 15mph and does not draw much power according to display. Anybody got a solution? Ride ON!

    I bought my Cruiser about 1 1/2 months ago. I wanted to ride the State Parks riding trails mostly. I'm 67 and weigh 260 lbs, also hoped to use bike as a weight loss aid. I've got 130 miles on it and only charged the battery once (bar graph only down 1 bar). I love the peddle assist to get started, then just use the gears to ride. Average speed in the woods is only 3-5 mph . I have ridden my cruiser around the local blocks to practice speeds and gearing. I could only get the speed up to 31 mph (remember, I weigh 260 lbs and I'm 67) It's fun, I's well built, great exercise, economical) I've added a cell phone holder and a 1000 kw 3 bulb light for night riding. (yep, the included headlight is more than adequate for street riding). I recommend the Cruiser for those that can handle the 73 lb bike weight. A GREAT CHOICE !! John

    My Himiway has been up to 34.7 mph, recorded on my phones GPS. I wasn’t even trying tbh, flat road, speed limit was 35. Wish I could attach a screenshot here as proof. My Himiway PAS is set to 0-9 and I was on PAS 5, full throttle wasn’t pedaling very hard at all. I didn’t realize how fast I was going but realized no cars were passing me and I looked down at the speedo which said 35. Agree that you should turn down the PAS settings otherwise it can easily get away from you if you aren’t paying attention.
    Keep up the good work sir!

    I wondered the same thing about my Cruiser as well in regards to speed accuracy and then found your video. First off I love the bike and it does have more power than any of the ones my friends have with ebikes. However, I was skeptical about accuracy. The odometer is of course directly linked to speed as the data is calculated the same way. Meaning, if your speedometer is off then so would your odometer be and visa versa as there is a direct correlation between the two. So I did the research myself. I took a 10 km route ( I'm in Canada) and mapped it out on Google and then 1st rode it on my Himiway, then on my old bike with at Cateye bike computer, and then on my wife's fancy ebike she bought in a bike shop (paid twice what I did ) and looked at the results. Well the wife's bike and the CatEye were very similar and showed very close to the 10km. However the Himiway showed 12.6km. That would mean it is off by around 26%. Since km vs miles is just a unit of measure, the percentage wouldn't change unless Himiway did some weird internal programming thing. In other words when you think you're going 35 mph, you're actually only going about 27.5 mph.
    Not disputing your results or your video as it just got me thinking, and you did a great job. Just wanted to put in my two cents, and as you mentioned do my research. Still love the power of the bike, but as per the speedometer it is definitely off from my findings. I was skeptical after a long ride with some friends when we compared distances rode and I was way higher than the rest of them.
    Larry

Love your videos...will be buying the cruiser for me and the step thorough for my wife....I totally want to do what you did to your rad, thinking the himiway is a better starting point, don't need to do the controller for example, or motor. UPDATE TO THIS VIDEO:
    I just received this bike a few days ago, and the current version of the bike from the factory tops out with throttle-only on a flat surface at 28 MPH (45 kph). The speed limit setting can only be set up to 45 probably because of videos like this that scared the pants off the manufacturer I am sure (imagine the liability if someone got killed going 35 MPH when it's not supposed to go over 22 MPH, the default). There is no way to make it go faster other than pedaling like crazy or going down a steep hill, and given the motor literally cuts out at 28 MPH now, I highly doubt you could pedal it faster than 30 MPH on a flat run unless you are an Olympic athlete or something like that. Sorry if you wanted to get the speeds in this video, but unless you can get a unit with the old firmware or reflash a new one with it, those days are over for a factory unit. I also wouldn't be surprised if they change the firmware again in the next year to remove the speed limit setting altogether (and it will only go 22 MPH if they do) because 28 MPH with the throttle actually changes the class of the bike and, technically, makes it illegal in the United States. Even if they did limit it to 22 MPH, though, the acceleration and uphill performance are both far greater than the RadRover's (which I own too). Also, RadRovers' top throttle-only speed is only 20 MPH.

    • @leetjohnson
      @leetjohnson 3 года назад

      This isn't true information. Class 3 ebikes are legal in the United States. Rad Rovers (all Rad Power Bikes) throttle only, will go up to 24.6mph.

    FYI on Himiway, I am in the process of buying 2 bikes from them. The bikes are shipping from the US to Canada where I live. They charge a flat rate of 50usd let bike to ship to Canada. That is an amazing deal! Was looking at another ebike from California that my wife loves the look of. I'm not kidding that the shipping rate, "confirmed" is $1,099.00 USD😳 Time will tell if it all works out with Himiway, but at this point it's looking like an amazing value.

    Don't quote me but I think set to 40 volts your controller isn't set for a 48 volt battery. I'd research that setting. Batteries actually hold more charge than advertised. A 48 volt battery actually charges to about 52 volts. A 52 volt charges to 58.8. I have to assume that 40 must be the max charge of a 36 volt battery.
    You may be able to get that speed reading more accurate by moving the magnetic sensor further up the spoke (closer to the rim & farther from the hub).

    Just my opinion: the speedo looks like it is a little fast. And increasing wheel diameter seemed like made it worse, which kind of makes sense because a larger wheel would cover more ground with each revolution. Side note, I also have a himiway cruiser and 7th spins the cranks too fast at 30mph. That’s probably just a measure of my own fitness though. Thanks for great videos. I just got mine, and aside from the month wait, I'm happy with the experience. I asked how to remove the rear wheel and CS replied with an email and a recorded video to show how. This is very likely a Chinese company but it's a good value for what you pay, given the performance seen by multiple reviewers.

    So the real lesson here for me is that the Himiway is nearly identical performance-wise as a RadRover with a motor/controller/display upgrade. So basically you get a hopped up Rad for about $570 less with Himiway.

    Regarding safety, 35 mph is too fast on a bicycle. However, I just had to check top speed on my new e-bike. After that, I reset the maximum speed from 72 kph back to 32 for class 2 and 45 for class 3. Weight, wind and grade significantly affect speed. I did my test off-road, no wind on level ground. It took about 30 seconds to reach 35 mph on my CSC e-bike. E-bikes are way too much fun! I think the Hemiway is slightly more powerful than the CSC, but it makes no difference when riding at legal speeds. I then raised the handlebars and the more upright position reduced top speed by 2 or 3 mph.

    • @jeanyluisa8483
      @jeanyluisa8483 3 года назад +1

      @@CitizenCycle925 That's because 26", 28", 700, 29" are rather classifications than the exact diameter. E.G. 26" and 28 are the diameters of the rim. But the tires on that rim can still have heights and those affect the diameter. So the manufacturere of Speedometers have to work with estimations. 29" usually means its a 28" rim with an extra wide tire like they are used on mountain bikes. The diameter also changes over the time when the tire gets worn. So speedometer never are 100% correct.
      The tires of the himiway are tires for a 26" rim, but they are extremely wide and high. So they might be in between 28" and 29".
      Beside that there is also a legal reason.
      Ussually the purpose of a speedometer is tthat the driver can avoid to go faster than ist allowed. So they are allowed to show a higher speed than you really go. but no lower speed than you really go.
      You dont want to get a ticket for driving too fast because your speedometer showed a lower speed.
