Adding to the fishing tips, the game actually checks for different NAMES not characters for turning in quests. So, if you create a character "A", turn in a quest, delete the character, and create another character named "A", you won't be able to turn in another quest. If, however, you just rename your main character (or any character) and rejoin, you can turn in another quest.

My friends and I are considering our first ever Master Mode run, and one of our friends always does NOTHING but fish. He's obsessed with it in any game, and Terraria is no different. So for once, I'm actually 100% OKAY with the idea of him mindlessly fishing while the rest of us do other tasks. We could set him up a nice fishing spot at one of the beaches and let him collect Fish Finder components for the rest of us.
I used the glitch a while back where you can glitch the guide into making anything you want so I didn’t even have to go get the materials but then I trashed it without even knowing because I was cleaning my inv and I forgot to fav it so here I am, watching...
For those who are seeing this video 2+ years later like me, just know that if you do get duplicates of the fishing rewards all is good! They all can be put in the shimmer to be turned into any of the other two fishing items.
Tips while in cavern afk farm and others is just sleep in bed so you can do fishing quest more faster but it slowdown your farm a bit i recommend made jungle biome because mobs spawn rate increases 50 % and use battle potion and water candle and put a dart trap in each side of your farm so mobs dont despawn

I hope modders make a SmartPhone by combining the Cellphone with the Magic Conch and Hell Conch at some point. Add a Pylon in to teleport to pylons even if you arent near one yourself.
I just finished making the Ankh Shield, and that only took a couple days of playing in Hardmode to get done. A simple AFK machine really speeds up the obtaining of things. But the Cellphone's progress comes to a DEAD HALT the moment you need those Fish Finder parts. Assuming you are playing legit (not changing day/night cycles or using multiple characters), it took me over a week of questing to get all the parts, and that was even knowing I could leave items in the Piggy Bank and they'd still count. It's really really frustrating. I had two whole chests brimming with quest items... it really stops all progress.
You know as cool as this item is i feel like the fishing stuff should be optional as everything else can be obtained relatively easy from the main campaign (before the wof is killed) , while the fishing is a side quest that alot of people won’t even do except for getting this item and probably will save scum if there on the pc verison. On top of that while everything else will display very useful information no matter the scenario, the fishing stuff is mostly limited to fishing and maybe some of the events. Regardless the items take up ALOT of inventory space and it can pretty annoying even if you are interested in the fishing information. They should really add a inbewteen item. I say you use the other items to make a “Newton Message Pad” and then combine a magic mirror for “Flip Phone.”. The “PDA” can instead be crafted with a Message Pad and if you have a flip phone you can skip straight to the cellphone with the fishfinder.
5:50 to 6:43 I couldn't have gotten more lucky, I was waiting for a travelling merchant to spawn and after waiting like 10 minutes I finally got one, and he was selling all 3 of them.
Noticed that you didn't actually seem to know why the Weather Radio or Sextant are dropped by the Angler, so to put things succinctly, you gain +-10% multiplied to your fishing power depending on the moon phase with the Full Moon being the strongest, +10% power when overcast/cloudy, and +20% power when it's raining. You can also gain +30% power when fishing in morning after 4:30 or evening after 6:00 or -20% power for fishing three hours within noon or within two hours and fourty-two minutes of midnight. (I never understood why it was within 162 minutes instead of just three hours like the noon modifier.)
The magic mirror was the first accessory I found, only 15 minutes into my first playthrough, later in my game, Only minutes before i started building my helevator a bought a lifeform analyzer and a stopwatch, and I already had a compass, while making my helevator I found two nymphs and got the ore detector on my first try, being a 1 in 2000 chance of that happening, while mining I also found 2 depth finder-things, I collected all of these without even knowing about the cellphone This is my first playthrough
Funny thing is, the fish finder was one of the easiest things to get for the cell phone (in my playthrough) Angler gave me some good luck in the first time in what had seemed like centuries, though getting the tackle bag was and entirely different story... (Seriously, 30-40 quests for the fishing line? Why???)
Fishing Note guide thing is so usefull at knowing if the water you have is good for fishing, as the power gets reduced the worse the water source is, it even says if the source doesnt have enough water. Very good at maximazing your fishing power and seeing how strong you can make it
Here's a tip for fishing get the quest once you have the fish save an exit then renter the game give him the fish if he does not give you what you want if on console force close the app do not save an exit then repeat

It's kinda funny how I completed the fish finder in less than 25 quests. I showed my friend I had a cellphone and he didn't believe I didn't grind it, until he saw my achievements on steam.

If you do get fishing repeats, you can just throw it into the shimmer and cycle it until you get the one you want.

I have a Zenith Chest, and a Cellphone chest, now i have to sacrifice 2 inventory space for sextant and pocket guide to not get any repeats.
