Hokihoshi had a great idea for the upgrade system, have all upgrades unlocked from the start and earn car points when you level up the car. So when the car is level 50 you will have enough car points to fully upgrade the car with every upgrade

I think the better way to improve this new level system is to make available the upgrades through credit purchases. Let’s say you want a specific body kit for a car, you have to either level up your car and you get it for free or you have to purchase it instantly. This is a good way to encourage players to earn the upgrades they want without the regular problem of get it everything right now in the beginning or else you have to spend through your economy if you’re not patient enough.

The biggest questions I have are 1) Did they fix the speed sensitive steering lock issue from Forza 7? the one where on certain tracks, certain vehicles were simply incapable of steering tight enough to make a corner (such as long beach, which often required braking way too much just to get the steering to tuen tight enough to make any of the hairpins)
    2) did they make the "assists" optional? in FM7, the computer would apply the outside front brake when cornering, thus adding understeer that shouldn't have been there, and preventing any sort of "loose" setup on vehicles like the Razr or any of the FWD cars- and even with everything set to "simulation", it still happened.
    3) Have they done away with the arcade-style "variable physics"? where your car's available grip is dictated by your proximity to the first AI driver. A good example of this is racing a stock Miata (MX5) in the saudi track- when the leading AI car is in immediate proximity to you, the car will begin to spin the rear tires upon ANY throttle input (especially funny when according to the game a stock MX5 is capable of spinning the tires leaving a corner in 4th gear, going downhill).
    4) has the difficulty situation been completely fixed? where instead of the AI becoming better drivers, they merely "rubberbanded" more often (while still driving like Stevie Wonder taking directions from a stuttering auctioneer), and your car just got slower. A good example of this is running a lap of ANY of the faster tracks and check the speed at the end of the straight, and then increase the difficulty and do it again- usually about 8-10mph.
I understand that some of the franchise's propensity to play fast and loose with the laws of physics is due to the developers wanting to make races more "interesting" but FM7 took that to a new, and wholly unacceptable level.
These issues, and the game's litany of performance bugs on PC is what led to me uninstalling at. I am hopeful that Turn10 learned from that dumpster fire, and this installment is worth the effort.

For me, it's all about car handling and physics. Forza Motorsport has always been above the competition in that segment, to me at least, superior to Gran Turismo amd everything else Ive tried. You can feel the car smoothly progressing around the corners, the conicity is perfect. You can hit the apex, follow the optimal line everytime with a regular controller, it's fantastic. No other simcade or arcade game is so precise when it comes to perfect car handling and physics with a simple controller.
This really allows me to feel inmerse in the racing experience, with zero distraction like a lacklustre handling. Taken Asseto Corsa on a regular controller for example, awful around corners. Look at The Crew Motorfest how the car zigzags when trying to turn then snaps into oversteer, terrible.
This feel is my number 1 reason for picking this game at launch. Like its predecessors, I know the car handling wont dissapoint.

Of course, Forza offers a deeper configuration options, of how you want to play it, that it can turn it a more closer to how an arcade drives, but even in the easiest configs, it still "hard to drive" to untrained people (I invite a lot of non-gamers to play Forza over the years, every single one struggled to make decent curves, to get a podium, etc).

If you get to grind a bit to unlock an upgrade to your favourite car, it will feel special, you'd feel more connected to it. I also hope they add more customisation options, and most importantly that it won't give you hundreds of cars for nothing in the first few hours.
I remember back in the Gran Turismo 6 days, I bought this cheap Hyundai Genesis Coupe, and raced it, continually upgraded it, even raced some Ferraris in the end, and it just makes you feel connected to your car much more. I find it okay to level up the car to gain those points, and you can invest them on upgrades with credits to. But the upgrades must be available first. ehhhh, time gating car part upgrades is not a great look, my standard order of operations for a day on fh5 is getting a new car, upgrading it for drifting and then tuning it, that can take about 15-30 mins, this would be many times longer. we're moving closer to mobile game levels of forcing player retention, and i dont think many players of AAA games would want to have features comparable to a mobile game. If they were looking for ways to fix the economy from fh5, this ain't it, and honestly i feel like the economy in fm7 was well paced, you could realistically buy what you needed to progress but couldnt just buy everything on the marketplace in one day.
speaking of anti consumer practices, how long does the "tutorial" part last, because a big criticism of fh5 was the over the top and hectic intro would put a lot of players play time past 2 hours, before they even got into the real meat of the game, forcing them to blow past the return period, just to see if the game was something they wanted to keep.

Why exactly are you comparing forza horizon to motorport? One is an arcade open world game , the other is a sim cade. This doesn't even target the same audience. That said I agree with the player retention part, no matter what type of game, that's not the way to do it. I understand their reasoning to teach players what components do and how they feel instead of looking just at numbers but for those of us who are already used to racing it's just bothersome.
This is already a niche genre so idk why they are trying to cater to the masses. If I had to guess it was due to the covid car simulator resurge, but that has passed.

    • @robinv1485
      @robinv1485 Год назад +1

As far as other games are concerned it does matter and it's simulated rather well depending on the game. Even GT7 has strategy behind racing to conserve fuel, the most simple example being driving behind someone to get help with the air resistance, which usually leads to an extra lap down the road. Remember also games like iracing have events like 24 hours of le manns, while simcade's don't go to that extent, many sims have these type of races. Most endurance races also need these factors even in simcades and need refuel. Now Forza from what people said makes it rather simplistic, it should be pretty similar to GT, more fuel, more weight, and push the car harder, burn fuel faster.

Car building is fundamentally flawed yep, by a huge degree. Levelling cars that take 3 hours (for drivers will good skills) is going to put many ppl off. Much like the grinding forced at GT7's launch. Plus, to buy 2 STi's and have to drive both to level 50 is just a massive design mistake on T10's part. What were the team thinking. I personally want to own lots of cars. Now my only option is to be forced to drive them all, to unlock all upgrades - which I do not see me doing. I want to tune and paint old race/rally cars - I'm screwed.
I do not agree with Chris Esaki's comments about car enthusiasts shouldn't be buying lots and lots of cars. Why put 500 plus cars in the game and then limit the "fun of tuning" in such a huge way. This is completely crap. Why on earth can't mature gamers in these times - buy a game and console and play "their way". Massive own-goal for Turn 10/Chris Esaki. For tuners/painters, this is really worrying news about car levelling and parts unlocking...

Unfortunately Forza Devs still give a s**t about wheel users. It just feels like there is a lag. It is not possible to steer on point into an apex. It just feels wrong and like you are driving a boat instead of a car.
I really hope it will be fixed till the final release. GT7 for example feels much more responsive and "on point" with a wheel, also the force feedback is much better.
And please give the interior few a proper 900° wheel turn like most of the other racing games do. That's one reason why I hate to drive in "inside few" in all Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport titles. It just feels wrong and kills the immersion.
