They HAVE to rework, expand, and tweak class/divisions. This has been an increasing problem as they try to cram as many cars into as few a division as possible over the years. We need more divisions, not less. There should absolutely be more one car divisions, with cars that also fit into other divisions. I should be able to take my Miata and participate in the Miata cup, which is a real thing. And the convertable class, and the rear wheel drive sports coups, and the japanese sports car cup.. etc. This approach in filling the grid out with different cars just for the sake of it is becoming like a cancer. Having actual race cars of wildly different decades and even entire eras mixed and matched HAS TO STOP if they're trying to cater to even the slightest hint of motorsport authenticity.

1000% agreed. The GT class that he mentioned got even dumber at what's combined. I totally agree that they need tons of deferent divisions. Like there should be a GTE, GT2 (2019+), GT4, GT3, and so on for just that one division we saw on screen. It's crazy to me that they have gotten worse with it.

they keep class/division numbers low for same reason Forza Horizon made you play all the modes you hated - they are so pesimistic about player numbers that they dont want players to be waiting in any queues.

I don't understand why it's so hard for Forza and other titles to just give a little overhead "radar" that shows your car's shape, the actual width of the track, and the other cars and their actual shape. GT7 does some of this, but cars are triangles. I'd much rather see how close the hitboxes are rather than which exact angle they're facing.

    • @cha_enthusiast
      @cha_enthusiast 10 месяцев назад +28

if you want a goofy all-fun racing game, just go play horizon. motorsport is supposed to be more of the sim-cade genre, where it's realistic enough to have the simulator feel but accessible enough that you don't need to read manuals before even starting. it's not supposed to be "full serious" but it's not supposed to be a circus either. there's a reason that motorsport and horizon are separate titles and it's not the developers just trying to make more money with a repackaged game.
you might enjoy it, but some of us don't like seeing meme cars mixed into the pack when we're trying to do a GT race in horizon and don't have the time and/or money for iRacing. ACC is great for GT but *only* GT because it literally has nothing else.

I'm glad you brought up anti aliasing. Forced anti aliasing is an awful idea at the best of times but it's especially bad in a racing game where there's constant motion
Theres nothing wrong with the option. A lot of people can't stand shimmering so a bit of blur and artifacts are an easy compromise, but an option to turn it off would give a crystal clear, if shimmery image, that would solve issues like ghosting and blurry reflections in motion.
You can always use reshade SMAA and even supersampling if you want a perfect experience. But those options have been made unavailable simply because Turn 10 doesn't want to give us the option

Working on them probably at a pace a business has when "content". I don´t quite see them shoveling in content at the speed that would make me go "full acknowledge and praise". If they publish 20 cars in the next 2 months, with surprise 3 environments, that would show they mean business, and would make me support them more, "despite" the fact they were praising the game and it´s "newness" and tools, for years.
The somewhat "easygoing/lacking" content isn´t the "huge pool of racing", that many hah hoped for, me included, racing "forge/blueprints" and map editor/prop placing. The spectator missing, the online backing for proper cataloguing, admin rights and oversight, race and league shceduling, separate voice chat rooms, that functiomn hoewer MS/T10 likes-pit crew "meetings",anything you want,, all that is something I thought they would have.
The game´s state could also pointing at possible issues with launching it at a good state, but managing, and holding out on stuff that "they also see should be present", and to make it pristine quality, as they have suffered setbacks in development, so many things present would be temporary, or subject to change in the first months, to even overhauls, within the first year´s time, if they do not expand the menu, nd show that they can mess it as needed, my hopes will fall to 10% of the previous. I mean, the game is great as a Forza can be, but it doesn´t mesh together all the things most thought "could be" there.
If this IS THE FORZA, they wanted to make, they need to push the gas on making it more engaging and user friendly. I still cannot unsee the celebrations and stuff like that. The game looks played safe, bordering on dullness, go ham, and introduce new things, it shouldn´t take much, (where is the drag racing?), shouldn´t need 4 dozen meetings to decide on a "compromise" either.
I just hope they can now turn it upside down, if they want to. The menu and imposter elegance of FM7, was bleh, the whole thing was terribleu. The celebrations and menu was doing my head in, and I didn´t forget the VIP and lootbox fiasco either, the load times they managed by keeping it all in engine loading assests on XBOne, absolute dogcrap, pretentious "premium product", straining your balls by waiting... The game had great promise, soiled with oversights and loading times, also funky and somewhat crippled, then abandoned. The FRR was a fiasco of huge proportions, just like the drag racing was.
The talks about the implementation, and the results, along with the talks of "how They see" the results, said all needed to know they aren´t up to the task. The management and "not all can be done", "we are working on it behind the scenes", 2 yrs later, "see you guys in FM NEW- It WILL USE WhaT WE KNOW NOW" speak, patting their backs was just a shovel full of modern gaming development slowtime bullshit. We need more meetings. Guys. Then they present a new dull motorsport again to such fanfare.

Gameplay looks good, tracks look great, but unfortunately still... the car models just arent quite there. Especially paint. In GT7 i can zoom in and see the 3D depth of the flakes in metallic paint, and casting marks in the glass headlights on vintage cars, tiny OEM stickers etc.
They were touting it as an absolute high bar in car detail, when in reality they are just slightly tweaked FM5 models. I say this as a player of all the Forza series and weekly FM7 wheel racer. The low res mirror also hurt my feelings because in GT7 watching a sunset in your mirror casting warm light into the hyper detailed interiors truly is a high bar. Either way, im excited to play it! I think the Forza team will definitely be upping the game over the next two years. The slow introduction gives and rollout of new content keeps this interesting while allowing the team to make sure this work well. Nordschleife is a great example. The longest track in the game, and if they are trying to simulate weather, the most dynamic. It would be nice to see it raining in one spot of the track and dry in order sections for proper track simulations.

Came from FailRace’s video. Have to say, great fun game here. Lots of potential. But my goddddddd, the upgrade system is absolutely shocking. The one good thing to be consistently solid throughout the Forza games was the ability to take a car and upgrade it to whatever you want, straight away! Now they’re making us drive a car for 3 hours, so we can unlock every upgrade and upgrade it normally (not to mention that certain cars have literally no championships you can race them in for the career. Plus you can’t even rely on online because the events are constantly changing!).
Then you get to the major dilemma of if the car you’ve upgraded to class is no good for that class you upgraded to, you’ve essentially wasted 3 hours of your time driving this car around and the process starts all over again. Buy a car, drive for 3 hours, hope for the best.
This is a bad bad start for the game and I think they seriously need to fix it asap. Otherwise they’re going to lose the majority of any fan base they may have had potentially…

Yeah, if they do not start running away with things "that should have been in", introducing game modes, options, and other, while tweaking the UI, my hopes are dead in the water for the game to become GREAT. Remember VIP, lootboxes, and "implementing FRR", drag racing?- working behind the scenes, updates soon-TM, se you next time! And the talks go on and on an on self sustaing half truths at best singularly, and a dark molassy volume of stuck up lies, ready to become re-engaged. 6 yrs of FM7 for this? 2 yrs, sure, but come on! I´d expect to be swimming in tracks and new cars and game modes and options, themed championships, new cars, liveries, events, come April.
I´ve just watched a "rant" of the man who stands behind the first Fallout, and him telling about people needing weeks worth of deadlines, for work that takes 30 minutes to do. Sure, this was an "additional", boss to programmer task, but it was simple as addition to NPC AI programming. "I need 2 weeks, man." Then we compare the departments together, after 6 months, and see that the sterile dead-face game is not only crap, but doesn´t even work.@@oleh_1337 I don´t think people are expected to be geniuses, but they need competence, like a plumber, joiner, plasterer, roofer, or heavens forbid, a shoemaker. They still work at speed that takes a full human, so they make the most money. The company culture slows things down to a crawl. I did expect more for sure. The re-used assets and replay is pretty demoralizing.

Having played the game myself for a couple of hours thanks to the New Zealand trick, I have to say that first impressions for the racing feel is pretty solid, and the game feels really good on controller. Looking through the builders cup, I do agree that there should`ve been more championships at launch, but I don`t otherwise mind how they`ve set the career up. As for the car list, I`d say it`s solid, but I noticed a mix of cars that have been in every previous game, with plenty of cars that were introduced in FH5, a bunch of cars that were last in FM7 but not the horizon games (like the `02 firebird, the Peugeot 308, the dodge omni, the catfish camaro, ect), as well as many strange omissions that you`d think were guaranteed to be in the game (like the beetle and combi, and the last gen M2, just to name a few)
Pretty excited for the future of this game though...

The description of the AI sounds exactly like Horizon 5 to me. Go all out and pass as many as you can in bunches in the first lap and get in range of leaders. All those you pass get stuck behind you and never threaten to overtake no matter how mediocre you drive, and if you fail to get within sneezing range of the leaders, they just take off and and gone with no hope of ever catching them no matter how good you drive.

Agreed on graphics. I do wonder if FM8 will support Nvidia filters on PC. I hope so. I know FM7 did not. Sometimes the Nvidia filters can be applied to fix some issue with graphics, particularly exposure and color issues. Never as good as inside the game but still very useful. Disappointing to hear the lack of FOV focus for us sim racers. Hopefully I'll feel comfortable enough but yeah, tweaking it for different situation is important. Do then even have the ability to look left, right? I would assume so but dunno. Would be nice if they supported head tracking but guessing they won't.

I normally drive ACC, Automobilista 2, and iRacing but those titles honestly don't have much substance outside of challenging yourself in terms of laptimes... or online competition of course. Question number 3 at the 11:17 mark... is there an option (like in FM7, although it was hidden in the assists menu) to change the length of the career mode races? I enjoyed doing all of mine on FM7 at the max distance. Doing this made a race an all day affair when taking into account the "test drive" practice time and tuning. I'd easily spend several hours on each race, with the race itself taking about an hour and a half. I really hope i can do this on the new one. I still have to work today so I won't be playing until tomorrow (Oct. 6th) morning.

FM7 was hot garbage at launch, especially in the features department, so it’s great to hear this game only needs a few minor tweaks and extra content to go from good to great. Hopefully as cars/tracks and system tweaks (CARPG for tuning) with new options that the community wants it can become the best game in its genre.

To be fair, a lot of the criticism, can be paralleled to Forza Motorsport 5 which was a new generation launch title. For example, FM5 launched with 17 tracks, and and 200 cars and FM2023, does have a similar, though not as drastic downgrade in content from FM7 when compared to FM5 from FM4. From 5 to 6 and especially 7 the overall quality improved with each entry, aside microtransactions and some other gimmicks. For example, FM5 had static time of day, or any weather effects if I'm not mistaken. FM6 added night and rain, as well as adding puddles to track surfaces which that could hydroplane your car which as big at the time, though it was all baked in/static. FM7 added dynamic weather, which meant dynamic track conditions in which puddles would be introduced if it rained. Finally, FM8 we get full dynamic time of day and weather with big changes to lighting and coupled with the new car and tire physics, I'd say is pretty substantial. I think between this game and the next game it there will definitely be improvements in regards to things like divisions. I really want them to add qualifiers to races. I still feel Turn10 is afraid to further embrace the "sim" aspect, instead focusing on authenticity and despite the increase in popularity of sim racers over the last generation, I think the new FM introduces enough, whilst maintaining itself as the more approachable racing game. I still think F1 is top tier in terms of simulated motorsport simply because its focused on the dynamics of Formula 1 which Codemasters can dial to a T but in time FM8 will more than likely surpass 7 in the ways that FM5 unfortunately did not surpass FM4

I've got the game on Gamepass and when I started it I wasn't that excited because of the CARPG system and I didn't expect much from the FFB and the multilayer. I,very been positively surprised by both. The FFB on my CSL DD, ince dialed in, feels really good and I've been able to drive cars consistently with it and the multiplayer system looks like it's perfect for me. I've been racing for years on ACC and I was getting tired by the amount of effort needed for every race in that game. It often took 2-3 hours for every race I participated in. In FM I can practice, qualify and race in under 20 minutes. And as said in the video there's a lot of variety and there are always races to join. I've been able to get S Rank on Safety so hopefully I get matched with other safe drivers.
I expected just another FM7 with a different career mode and a worse upgrade system that would only play decently with a controller but It looks like I've found a competitive but quick and simple multiplayer racing game that plays very nicely with a wheel.
Don't really care about the career mode now, and If I want to upgrade and test cars I'll stick to Horizon which has got a lot more variety in cars and biomes where rally, offroad or weird builds makes a lot more sense than Motorsport,
Can't wait to play more of Forza Motorsport and I'm really looking forward to the upcoming updates and new content.

When you compared the game to AC, ACC and iR, I wished you could make a comparison to Automobilista 2. After 1.5, the handling is absolutely top notch, it works great in VR and there's a third party online platform for it called Racecraft Online which has a very neatly crafted schedule of races, a license system to progress through, and also utilizes AMS2's ability to enable AI in online races, which means you can race against AI if there's less than 4 players registered for the race, allowing the use of the platform at any time regardless of population, making it a singleplayer-multiplayer coherent hybrid.
Of course at the moment you're likely going to be focused on FM, and rightfully so, but I think AMS2 is worth checking out at some point.

I’m just worried about the progression system much like everybody else.
I hope the developers get a wake up call in regards to the leveling system.
I don’t understand what is stopping people from waiting a couple weeks and then seeing which cars are meta-and upgrading those and nothing else!!
No one will waste hours upgrading their favorites if they know regardless they’ll get beat by something everyone else is using!
Thus killing the diversity of the racing!
Why waste hours leveling up a car to level 50 in the hopes that it will compete well online and then having those hours go to waste.
My point is based upon getting beat by something that’s meta and will be all over RUclips etc?
Side note some of the very recent cars for FH5 are not here while some of them are.
Chiefly the 296 GTB, which I love is not here however, that can all be forgiven because we finally have the 2020 Audi R8, the final iteration of the legend!!! ❤❤❤❤
The only other game that had this car was NFS Heat in 2019 and now NFS doesn’t even have Audi licensing !!
More of the cars that have been added to the Horizon game will show up here in motorsport in due time .
A very fair assessment Hoki Hoshi
