You made a somewhat complicated lesson simple to understand! I was pretty much lost with all the useless symbology taught in my lesson plan until I came across this video! Good job! I am glad this is still up 8 years later.
This mans saved my life and i didn't fail this class that i was taking! Perfect example! Definetly a good video to watch, im surprised it hasn't gotten like 1 mil view yet!
Thank you! I have been having trouble all quarter with Venn Diagrams and because of your video I finally get it! Great video, exactly what I needed to know for my Math 107 class.
can I just say how much this has helped me! I was putting 10 like you said not to instead of making the whole intersect total 10. It all makes so much sense now, thank you!!!!
OUSTANDING VIDEO!!!! BRAVO BRIAN VELTICH!!!! YOUR EXPLANATIONS AND EXAMPLES SAVED ME...YOU ARE MY VENN DIAGRAM SAVIOR!!! JOHN VENN WOULD BE VERY PROUD OF YOU!!! THE WAY THAT YOU TAKE YOUR TIME TO EDUCATE THE WORLD IS AMAZING!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! YOUR WORK IS NOT IN VAIN!!! OH AND P.S. I HAVE SUBSCRIBE TO YOUR CHANNEL!!!
i was stressing in class because i didnt know what the teacher was waflling about. U made 2 weeks made of stress into 2 seconds of relief to me. Thank you, now i can ace my exams.
Thank you for the video. This math is so dumb, never in my 31 years have I needed to use this, my major has nothing to do with math, yet this stands between me and graduating. Great video
I love this cause i dont understand how to solve three venn diagrams and i watch his vlog and now i know how to solve this thank you #im your new subscriber
You just saved me!!🤧😭😭😭 I'm been scanning through YT and all other teachers still making it look complicated😢 but now you've made it seem so easy and I'm ready to take on my exam today😎
When you say middle number, are you referring to the center (intersection of all three circles)? If you are, then you would need some other piece of information to derive the middle one. There isn't an exact method of doing that. With a situation like that, it's like playing Soduku. You try something and see if it works. It's also possible you're not given enough info to find it. I have a simple example with two circles like that. It's called Final Exam #23.
OMG Thank you so much!!!! My stats teacher tried teaching me this for an whole hour and I still didn't understand LOL ... until I found your little tutorial vid on ven diagrams and I finally get it! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You just saved me from failing my assessment next week!
Brian, you are by far the BEST instructor on RUclips for Math. I'm so happy I came across this video. Question: What if the question asked for exactly two instead of exactly one? Would you just multiply 33 by 2?
You'll need to add the numbers in the regions that represent exactly two magazines (meaning the number is in two circles, but not the third). The regions that read exactly two magazines are the 8, 6, and 11.
THANKS THANKS THANKS THANKS I am now fantastic in Venn diagram THANKS THANKS THANKS THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what if it starts with a bigger number in the middle then has a smaller number that do two? For example, if 20 read all 3 magazines, but then only 10 read newsweek and times
Hi I'm doing a sum and the middle most section is a large number and it results in negative numbers when trying to subtract.... How do how do I get past this?
It's hard to say. Sometimes you won't be able to do anything because there won't be enough information. Usually the person writing the question crafts it in a way where you'll be should be able to place a number somewhere (possibly using some rules)
Oh, I've been trying to figure it out lately and been searching everywhere to help me do this... I'll probably ask for help from someone who knows how to do this soon.. I think I am missing something ;~;
Given: In a survey of 63 people, 33 people subscribed to magazine A, 30 people subscribed magazine B, and 17 subscribed to magazine C. For any two of the magazines, 9 people subscribed to both magazines. If 5 people in the survey did not subscribed to any of the three magazines, how many people subscribed to all three magazines? Please help immediately!
If you take away that information in this problem, it's impossible to figure out. If the problem doesn't give it to you, it should supply you with some other clever information that should lead you to knowing "4 read all magazines."
Is the question how many read atleast one magazine should be equal to 33. Since the total of the people who read alone is 33.. 17+9+7. They are the ones who read the T or N or U alone right?
+Robert Najib Lansangan Reading at least one magazine means you can read each one alone, read two of each, or read all 3. As long you are reading a magazine, whether it's one or more, you count in this total.
Maybe the number of the elements in the universal set is given value and if that's right then the number of people reading none of the three newspaper would be 38.
8 years later and your still helping student, this saved me

Thanks Brian! awesome video breakdown!
Super clear and I understood it completely.!!!!
I have a problem when the intersection of all 3 sets is not given what should i do?
But how do you get the 4?? i mean if the exercise is asking you to find it??
Thanks so much for grate explaination
From Somalia
what if it starts with a bigger number in the middle then has a smaller number that do two? For example, if 20 read all 3 magazines, but then only 10 read newsweek and times
Then they are implying that the 3 magazines do not include US News. So instead of 8 you put 3.
Hi I'm doing a sum and the middle most section is a large number and it results in negative numbers when trying to subtract.... How do how do I get past this?
What does it say?
Thx, i just turned grade 7 last april, and this is our current math lesson
Amazing, you saved my math
what if the intersection of , a union of b union of c is 0 please answer
How do you do this without a center number and missing variables.. or something
It's hard to say. Sometimes you won't be able to do anything because there won't be enough information. Usually the person writing the question crafts it in a way where you'll be should be able to place a number somewhere (possibly using some rules)
Oh, I've been trying to figure it out lately and been searching everywhere to help me do this... I'll probably ask for help from someone who knows how to do this soon.. I think I am missing something
;~;
But do you have some sort of idea?
For when you said how many do not read time instead of adding all those numbers couldn't we just say 40-100=60?
Shania sherwood that’s correct. You could do that too.
So I am here with my 26 year old a** trying to recall venn diagram to help my niece on her module. Hahahaha! Thanks for this video!
I'm so happy i watched this before my exam
thank you you explained it so much easier!!!

This was hugely helpful! I missed three days of class and was completely lost with my homework. Thanks!
Thanks I just fully understood the lesson
Mate, your the lord and saviour.
I got a question here Sir, how if the question does not give like "4 read all the magazine is not appear in question". how we find out?
If you take away that information in this problem, it's impossible to figure out. If the problem doesn't give it to you, it should supply you with some other clever information that should lead you to knowing "4 read all magazines."
Yea I doubt that'll happen on a test I think that might be grad level stuff but idk
Better than my teacher❤

how did you get the 100?
Sorry for the late response. Are you referring to the 100 college students that's given in the word problem?
Maybe the number of the elements in the universal set is given value and if that's right then the number of people reading none of the three newspaper would be 38.
this help me to understand the basic concepts..thanks
What if there is a 0 in one of the part??
