I have a 2017 from WildWood guitars and it does not even have the slightest imperfection. It plays incredible and right out of the box. I guess people love to bash Gibson due to its high demand and popularity.
Great guitars, I have the Mojave version. Sound great, very well made, no issues with the build at all, bought it immaculate second hand. Well worth checking out if you see one
I love the colors and finishes on these new LP Standards. Thanks good Gibson has been getting more risky on this matter, it is getting better now. I have mostly Traditional spec standards on my collection and having these new finishes available and with these electronic features out-of-the-box, is refreshing. Good job Gibson.
Gary, another option might be A Les Paul Classic instead of a standard. The 2016 models in the stores right now are $1600 (guitar center, kennesaw Georgia).Maybe the online store will price match it. They want to get rid of all their older inventory. Now is the time to leverage the stores on over stocked leftover inventory.
I like his playing as well. I think he sounds more like Joe Walsh though. . Plus, playing standard blues style riffs is perfect for demonstrating guitar tone.
Adrian---you should use any guitar you want and not worry about what anyone says, especially on here! If it you like it, go for it, but play one yourself to be sure, they're all different.
Gary, you are going to be 60. If you dont have a Les Paul, , then spend the money on one for your birthday and dont worry if it is over priced. Its a Les Paul and the G string will probably go out of tune. So what if it does. How many more years are you going to convince yourself out of purchasing one. If you want one, then get one. You will not regret it. I deliberately wait around this time of the year to purchase a new last year model at 25% off. Their are still new 2016 and 2017 models on the shelf the music stores are trying to get rid of for $2200. Its still new and you can save $400 or more. Good Luck and happy early birthday to you !
Rodney Ritchie I know right. I start day dreaming: If Gibson is hated, nobody will buy. Prices will go down way down. I’ll swoop in with $1k and buy 2,3,4,5. Hahahahaha!!! They’re all MINEEE!!!! Every color!!!
I love Gibson Les Pauls and always will. Maybe someday I'll be able to afford one! Epiphone is no substitute for the real thing especially the garbage guitars I've tried out lately. What do they say? Only a Gibson is good enough? Truer words were never spoken!
BB pro pickups are not horrible, but they can be a bit harsh. And the balance between the two in middle position can sound a bit different than other pickups.
Johnny Notto got his gig playing threads on for this test. Nobody told him he was just highlighting the guitar and there was no crowd coming. The sunglasses, hat, and leather jacket in an 80 degree room that was rich bub. LMAO!!!! Weeeeeeee!
Sounds superior and more versatile than the 2018 LP Trad demo. But I'd prefer a les paul trad body and neck with these pickups and tone controls. Do gibson provide options.. yeah right.. dream on.... What, buy both and swap out the pups, circuit board, and knobs...??? Gibson would love that option...
I have this same guitar except it is blue. I love everything about the guitar, I just would like to have a little bit more of a hotter bridge pickup. Has anyone paired the neck pickup in this guitar with a hotter pickup? I'm looking at possibly dropping in a Dimarzio DP-100 super distortion.... Not sure?!?
And here we are again. A Gibson video and a bunch of bandwagon Gibson bashers right out of the gate. Not like old Gibsons? BREAK IT IN MAN! Come ON! BREAK IT IN! No NEW Guitar is going to play like the worn in, aged ones! ARE YOU EXPERIENCED? You can't keep your Les Paul in tune? REALLY? What the hell? ARE YOU EXPERIENCED? Have you ever been experienced? Well I have. This Gibson quality bashing is BS. I very seriously doubt the Gibson hater's experience no matter what they say. If you can't keep a new Gibson in tune IT IS YOU not the guitar. When I change strings on my 91 or my 2016 Les Paul I stretch them out. I actually stretch them out and tune about 3 or 4 times. Then I tune and play. I put them in the case. When I take them back out THEY ARE IN TUNE! Anyone who can't keep a Les Paul tuned DOES NOT DESERVE ONE. So what is the deal here? Is it the PRS Fanboy committee out to bash Gibson to help their team out? Pretty immature if that's the case. PRS makes good guitars. I won't knock them because I prefer Gibsons. It is common that people talk down Gibson while talking up PRS. Do you like PRS better. That is great for you if you own one. Seriously. I don't get people. Gibson hating is a bandwagon thing, not a band of experienced voices unless that experience is irrlevant because the Gibson hating isn't actually based on guitar quality. I have been around, owned and played MANY guitars for decades, so I see the EXTREME LEVEL of narrative fabrication (ABSOLUTE BS) from the Gibson haters and I recognize it as absolute fiction. My New LP is as solid as my 25 year old one and the Les Paul and Explorer that I owned previously. Great guitars. Gibson bashing only started since the Obama administration accused them of crimes they didn't commit and politics got into the story and now Gibson hating became what I see as a deceptive political narrative designed to intentionally hurt Gibson's business. I believe that this is a repeated political attack and not about guitar quality at all. So to those who just want to know if Gibson guitars are worth your money, then answer is absolutely yes in my experience.
AnAmericanGuitarist I don't know about the politic (Not from the U.S). But I know my sg stays in tune just fine. It's actually one of the most stable guitars I've had in terms of tuning. I think it's just people trying to hate on Gibson for the sake of hating a popular guitar. Yes, some people probably had issues with faulty gibsons. But you have to think of percentage. If hundreds of thousands of people buy a guitar and a certain percentage of them are faulty you are going to hear a lot more complaints then with a guitar that sells only a few thousands in number.
My first Gibson was a LP Tribute with a Satin Finish and when I played it it I was blown away by the clear bright tunes delivered from the pickups. It was an eye opener.
I think Gibsons are good, I got one, not so happy but that is more about me. There may be something to the argument that you are paying a lot for the brand name, I take that seriously and would like to make sure a Japanese Edwards, FGN whatever is not just as good for a lot less.
I had a 2015 Trad with stock regular Kluson tulip heads and currently have a 2017 Standard with Grover locking tuners. Neither have serious trouble staying in tune once strings are worn in and they certainly don't go horribly out mid-song. I think it's more about the price gouging and that they let guitars with finish flaws out of the factory. Add in the 2015 robot tuners fiasco and people are bound to get angry whenever they see a new Gibson.
Only two guitars I ever needed was a Gibson Les Paul and A USA Fender Strat. Yeah, I own others but those are my main guitars and will be with me for a long time. People are going to hate but real musicians don't hate on Gibson guitars, maybe the management but not the instrument. Cry babies who purchased expensive gear with substandard skills do bitch, however. Hell, I can make those piece of shit guitars from Wal-Mart sound good but then again, the first 8 years of learning to play, I was not chasing tone but trying to learn as much as I could about how to actually play the damn guitar.
I've a student with a new les paul custom, it sounds pretty good but nothing compared to my late 90's custom, i've much more sustain, my gtr stay perfectly in tune, and sounds way better. couple of years ago I spent 1800€ used (mint conditions) he spent almost 3000€ but is not even close to mine. If you spend lots of money you PRETEND quality and nowadays gibson quality is not as good as a few years ago. It's a pity!
i dont like them removing some of the most traditional traits of les paul in order to look closer to a PRS. it's so sad. but i kinda like this color.its not honey burst..its so redish...
if you want looks and a logo yes buy this guitar for 2900 bucks, if you want a guitar that plays better, sounds better, and it's crafted amazingly (far superior to Gibson) get any Music Man under 2k
Does this guy's choice of clothing actually matter? And what is a 'real' band exactly? Again, does that even matter? Sometimes I play my Les Paul naked whilst taking a dump...I still gain the same enjoyment as playing live on stage with a 'real' band.
Every guitar goes out of tune, that happens during and after you play. You can't rely on "stock parts", you have to do some modification at some point. My advise to people that can't get their guitars stay in tune? Put a set of high quality locking tuners on your guitar such as Gotoh (made in Japan), Grover or Hipshot tuners. How do I know that? Because I've got both of my acoustic and electric guitars equipped with locking tuners, with those brands I just mentioned. Everytime after I play, I always check the tuning again, and they just stay in tune. Believe me they work, I've been doing this for 9 years now, and that's how I long I've been playing guitar, too.
BRUCE ALCORIZA Well it's funny you say that actually. My 2016 PRS McCarty is all stock and never goes out of tune. Quality is top notch and sound is unbelievable. Sad really how Gibson has gone down.
I don't believe that 'cause that's BS..! I used to own a 2014 PRS 22 Standard (US made) with a regular tuning machine, and that guitar doesn't stay in tune, either. I've got it from Zzounds.com through "play-as-you-pay" payment plan. I've returned it because the damn tremolo bar always falls out, and no way to tighten it. The design to me was just so cheap I had to return it and bought the Gibson Les Paul 50's tribute instead, then installed some locking tuners on it, and it just stays in tune.
Why bash Gibson? I rather bash that pile of garbage Friedman Amp. Hes used it on all the 2018 lineup and it has successfully reduced a fleet of $2-3k guitars to a pathetic mud-fuzz-static-distortion fest...
I can afford it.... It's overpriced. I want one, but it is seriously difficult to justify purchase compared to much more affordable and probably better alternatives. Which is why I own so many highly prized 1980s Japanese guitars, and more recent good quality Korean & Chinese guitars. The only reason I'd pay so much is because it's my 60th birthday in 2018 and I can't afford a real 1958 Les Paul. But I know my reasoning is more stupidly sentimental than realistic. I recently tried a used 1990s or 2000s custom Shop Les Paul priced at over £4K in a reputable & respected UK guitar shop. The salesman deployed the "well, if you can't afford it" sales strategy. My reply was basically, "well if you don't even know the year of manufacture, and you are too brainwashed and biased by vested interests to accept that this guitar is not that significantly superior to the Epiphone Les Paul Tribute Plus at the other end of the display wall...???" Having said that, I will probably still be really irresponsible with good money and treat myself to a 2018 USA Les Paul for my 60th birthday. Or maybe better still, a late 1970s Yamaha SG1000...???
COMPLETE ANALYSIS ON GIBSON AND WHY THEY ARE SO FUCKING EXPENSIVE In the late 1980's, the price of a Les Paul Standard was like 1200$. They lowered the price down to 700-800$ without compromising quality; people though they had pulled off a " fender " and cut corners, their cost-cutting was strictly by streamlining inventory, investing in better machining, cutting down on error-rates. It was a direct response to the new wave of high-quality guitars being offered at much lower prices, especially from Japanese companies like Yamaha and Ibanez. Gibson's guitars were, at the time, seen as old-fashioned and over-priced. The thing is, the more they cut prices, the lower their sales numbers were. They had a loyal following among older and more affluent hobbyists, but the "kids" were still buying Yamahas and so on, even when Gibson was close to the same price. And so Gibson began a process of re-inventing their marketing as a boutique, "olde timey" specialty guitar-maker, and raised their prices to reflect lower sales-volume and a perception of exclusivity. Lo and behold, their sales-volume went up. So they raised prices again. And again. And the more they raised prices, the more guitars they sold, and the more market-share they took from similar-quality competitors. Just so we are clear: these price-changes were literally calling up their retailers, and telling them to take off the $700 price-tags, and replace them with $1,000 price-tags, then $1,200 price-tags, then $1,500 price-tags, and so on. They were literally selling the exact same guitars faster, by raising their price. (Remember this was the pre-internet age, and people would go shopping for a new guitar maybe once every few years, and there was no easy way to compare prices except to drive to a bunch of different stores, so it was much easier to do things like this, back then). The narrative explanation was basically that customers didn't see buying a Gibson as a value-proposition, they saw it as a status-symbol, and as a sort of heirloom/piece-of-history. Compared side-by-side with more value-competitive guitars, a Les Paul had fewer features, an old-fashioned appearance, less versatility, was heavier and harder play fast on, etc. But when put on a pedestal, as the kind of super-premium thing that you had to save up for, something that didn't even try to compete with the others... then it felt like buying a piece of Jimmy Page, or something. This was hailed as a genius move in the business-press, this "Gibson pricing model" of raising prices as a way to boost sales and value-perception. Pretty much Gibson tried charging less money for their guitars, and people bought less of them. So they raised their prices (without changing the guitars), and people bought more. It was famous in the business and finance-press for a while.
I love my 2018 LP standard.
The finish on it looks amazing and I love how the tones have a wide range. This is definitely a mush have for those who want a versatile guitar.
It's the most beautiful thing I've had the pleasure of laying my eyes upon
So you don't have seen a gibson studio smokehouse burst 2018....
A red les Paul standart!!!
I waited for this!!!
I❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤RED
Bought it yesterday...... its a BEAST!!
Longer vids with no talk just playing is very good. I like it
I have a 2017 from WildWood guitars and it does not even have the slightest imperfection. It plays incredible and right out of the box. I guess people love to bash Gibson due to its high demand and popularity.
andermarg it’s called Gibson
Bad quality control means from guitar to guitar lol
I am here in the Philippines when I saw it with a beautiful design and beautiful sound and tone in a guitar shop
Nice One!
this guitar sounds so fucking great
Great guitars, I have the Mojave version. Sound great, very well made, no issues with the build at all, bought it immaculate second hand. Well worth checking out if you see one
I have 2 of these. A trans black & Mojave burst. But that red looks amazing!!
🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
I have this exact model, in "Blood Orange Burst", like in this video. It is beautiful and plays well.
Same old comment from all the same chaps price price blah blah, just listen to the player and enjoy one of the finest guitars made...
I am a bit of a purist in my tastes usually, but am really enjoying these tones, especially the heavy overdrive sounds.
Really like it! I've slated gibsons the last couple of years but that sounds exactly like it should....KILLER!
I like this guys playing style. Reminds me of Slash
Slash-lite!
Yes - boring and derivative...
I like his playing as well. I think he sounds more like Joe Walsh though. .
Plus, playing standard blues style riffs is perfect for demonstrating guitar tone.
Guitar Player the only blues I like is the funeral March by chopin
Adrian---you should use any guitar you want and not worry about what anyone says, especially on here! If it you like it, go for it, but play one yourself to be sure, they're all different.

C Wilson I just did that with a 2018 Gibson Les Paul standard. Picked it up for under 2500 in Mojave burst
@@AgavePiper I did the same, go the Mojave burst for a very good price last week.
I wish everyone hated Gibson's then they would all be mine ahhhh heaven
Rodney Ritchie I know right. I start day dreaming: If Gibson is hated, nobody will buy. Prices will go down way down. I’ll swoop in with $1k and buy 2,3,4,5. Hahahahaha!!! They’re all MINEEE!!!! Every color!!!
good demo of the guitar sounds
I’m gonna give you guys time to look up the HP version of this model
I’m contemplating trading away my American tele pro to get one of these bad bois
Hope u did it bro
I really don't think the world needs anymore Les Pauls or Strats
All the best ones have been made and the quality will never be the same.
I love Gibson Les Pauls and always will. Maybe someday I'll be able to afford one! Epiphone is no substitute for the real thing especially the garbage guitars I've tried out lately. What do they say? Only a Gibson is good enough? Truer words were never spoken!
Love the tone and range. It sounds great through that Friedman amp. Any suggestions for small all valve amps to get the best out of a Gibson LP?
BB pro pickups are not horrible, but they can be a bit harsh. And the balance between the two in middle position can sound a bit different than other pickups.
Sweet as hell need's the poker chip back wish I could run out and grab one but it's epiphone for this guy and esp
Cyb3r 3vil it comes in the case with the guitar...
Awesome guitar!
Internet, please do your thing and tell me where I can get that leather jacket!🙇🙇🙇🙇🙇
Johnny Notto got his gig playing threads on for this test. Nobody told him he was just highlighting the guitar and there was no crowd coming. The sunglasses, hat, and leather jacket in an 80 degree room that was rich bub. LMAO!!!! Weeeeeeee!
Not a bad 2019 for Gibson models if you ask me.
Great sounds. Tuning issues were quite apparent during the clean tones, though... or was it just me?
jasfiona its a LP
Year I know it’s too expensive but I WANT IT.
So I buy Gibson guitar.
BADASS!
Perfekt!
Not sure?!?
Swweet tones on this one!
Dude, slow down on the adderall
love it !
Bet this would sound great on my 6100lm
What's the song at 8:56?
Only two guitars I ever needed was a Gibson Les Paul and A USA Fender Strat. Yeah, I own others but those are my main guitars and will be with me for a long time. People are going to hate but real musicians don't hate on Gibson guitars, maybe the management but not the instrument. Cry babies who purchased expensive gear with substandard skills do bitch, however. Hell, I can make those piece of shit guitars from Wal-Mart sound good but then again, the first 8 years of learning to play, I was not chasing tone but trying to learn as much as I could about how to actually play the damn guitar.
In three months they will probably release the 2019 models lol
Too expensive ? which US made high end guitars are cheap then ?
None, can`t reason with the Gibson haters, Chinese Epiphone is just as good in their minds.
Lel was just thinking the same!
I would like a Gibson with humbekers only
Gibson got it right in 2016 so why oh why have they gone and gone backwards again. Cmon Gibson get your act together 🇺🇸
I want that
So 2 piece or 3 or multi???
and low density again???
Wish they would stick that Les Paul decal in the correct place - with these models it’s practically sitting on top of the truss rod cover..
It's been a while since I've seen one in the flesh, but I'm pretty sure they don't use decals.
Its missig the circle if they put that ir Will be awesome
Then is the same than the 2017 LPS T....
What color is it? Blood orange burst?
What kind of Friedman amp is that?
Wow...
Blood Orange Burst? What color is it?
reminds me of a mid 2000s Cayenne
What Friedman is that?
They should just update them every 2/years when they actually have decent things to change on them
i dont like them removing some of the most traditional traits of les paul in order to look closer to a PRS. it's so sad. but i kinda like this color.its not honey burst..its so redish...
Awesome awesome videos but add some verbalization!
In funk music the strato is better. In Hard rock Les Paul is the best.
Ha second but I guess that's okay as well
I thought the 2018 Standard brought the poker chip back.
Ted Tronson it comes in the case with the guitar, in case you want to pit it on, along with a pick guard
That tone will never cut through a mix.
Oh but it does cut thru, all the way thru. Boost those mids on the amp and it rips.
souuuunnnddddd
Mario Cellura I hear sound too lol :)
if you want looks and a logo yes buy this guitar for 2900 bucks, if you want a guitar that plays better, sounds better, and it's crafted amazingly (far superior to Gibson) get any Music Man under 2k
There are practically zero Music Man guitars priced under 2K, when is the last time you looked at their prices, some are upwards of 3500 dollars.
dross rockero
they're so much into debt even there grade of flame top maple went down and they raised the price by $300
7:18
Honey burst was better
Emiliano Alvarez Del Castillo Perez I love the Mohave bursts
This guitar demo guy's wardrobe is overkill...don't know who he is but he probably never played in a real band before at all...lol !
I guess Jimmy Hendrix outfit was overkill as well... I wonder if he ever played in a real band?

Its a bit im in a guns n roses cover band yes, never really see people outside of guitar stores dressed like this
no gibson on the site from here; someone has something to hide; never good

핑크는 아니고 빨간자몽색깔인듯
The colour (And sound) ruined it...
Soooo.. nothing new?
Sorry, but he needs to work on getting rid of that mosquito vibrato.
What a racket, instant turn off.
When you can sell me a real Les Paul for $200 I'll be buying = My Avatar, Last deal @ GC was a PRS CE-22 for $1000 OTD
Headknocker the CE is comparable to a Tribute. I’m sure you can’t get a McCarty for 200 either
This colour make it looks like a cheap guitar
The newer models don't even come close to the early years of Les Pauls, in my opinion. They are too expensive and flashy
yea its like a ferarri kit car
Vlad Prisacariu I agree with the expensive, but the flashy I don't. This guitar is gorgeous. I love the red paint on it.
Every guitar goes out of tune, that happens during and after you play. You can't rely on "stock parts", you have to do some modification at some point. My advise to people that can't get their guitars stay in tune?

to accept that this guitar is not that significantly superior to the Epiphone Les Paul Tribute Plus at the other end of the display wall...???"
Having said that, I will probably still be really irresponsible with good money and treat myself to a 2018 USA Les Paul for my 60th birthday.
Or maybe better still, a late 1970s Yamaha SG1000...???
Gary Ross no, you can buy a 58 reissue for around the same price, that's why it's overpriced
COMPLETE ANALYSIS ON GIBSON AND WHY THEY ARE SO FUCKING EXPENSIVE
In the late 1980's, the price of a Les Paul Standard was like 1200$.
