How about the 80s were a great time to be a kid growing up? The first couple years of your life you don't really remember, and your whole world is really just you and your immediate family, you aren't watching movies or reading comics or whatnot.
Thanks. I didn't know if anyone would get the joke. Even if someone knows the saying: "Jump the Shark"...many don't realize the phase was coined, when Fonzie "The Fonz" Jumped the Shark on Happy Days.
You need to see if you can add this on TV Tropes. But what would the definition be?.... you kill a movie/series by having a cool character try too _little_ to be cool/solve a problem? Example: THE LAST JEDI
I will say this...i give credit to the director for having some shots from inside the sharks mouth looking outward as someone was being eaten..that was kind of creepy
Best bit of the film for me. And it was the first Jaws film I saw at the cinema. Bit of a guilty pleasure, enjoyed it at the time but even then I was a fan of bad films having stayed up late to watch the worst of Hollywood season on Channel 4.

The movie Orca is highly worth checking out. It’s often compared to Jaws, but while it has the same type of action there’s a bit more heartfelt drama to it and has a different psychological approach to the story. One of its more interesting and darker points is its emphasis on consequences.
@brandoncruise6398 the plot with the orca seeking revenge on the main character played by Richard Harris for killing its family (wife and child) is actually explained in the trailer. So it's not spoiling anything by letting it out. But I do commend you trying not to spoil it for people. Shows you're a good person in life. 👍
The actual 3D effects in this, meaning did it really seem things were leaping out into the theater, were very very good. The SPECIAL effects were TERRIBLE. What I mean is, there was nothing at all wrong with the 3D, it was STELLAR, but the actual images themselves were often just awful. Look at that shark glass breaking scene for example. That shark truly looked like it was hovering in the middle of the theater, but the image itself was miserable, the fakest looking thing ever in the history of cinema in that example. I was stunned though how objects appeared to hover right out into the theater
JAWS 3 was rereleased in 2Ol6. It's now called, "'JAWS 3 M0NSTER"'. This new version has a different beginning and ending. This time there's a giant shark AND a giant squid trapped inside Sea World. At the end of the movie, the shar and squid duke it out. Sweetness.
11. Jaws 3D had a handheld video game. I remember as a kid a friend had a Jaws 3D video game where you played a scuba diver that had to dodge oncoming sharks by moving left and right.
I thought it was a fun bit of 80’s chesse with a pretty epic music score. I was at seaworld Orlando last summer & you can still recognise certain parts of the park despite a lot of change since 1983. One of the dolphins in the movie still lives at Floridas discovery cove,he’s called Capricorn. 🐬🦈
A Great White would never do that. To are too many nerve endings in its snout. Thankfully that scene is omitted in the re release of JAWS 3 which is now called , "JAWS 3 M0NSTER"'.
4:15 People really liked Sharknado, so, yeah, a Jaws comedy would work, but it would have to be under a different name. The thing about Jaws is that (even though it was in a popcorn-movie genre) it has a good, serious story, where you care about the characters, and that's what people would want to see with a Jaws sequel.
Have you ever watched Jaws III (as it is dubbed for 2D release) on TV...there's a whole part where the guests are walking through the undersea tunnels an the FX shot of the surrounding water doesn't show up...they're literally walking past the green screen...hilarious
SO TRUE! I also loved the behind the scenes of all the people working so hard to make the animatronics work. It was innovative and tough... and the bloopers could be pretty fun.
CGI is great when used as to assist physical things and you can't tell it's CGI. But models always look real in ways computer graphics never have and won't for the foreseeable future.
In Jaws 1, the editor saved the movie by cutting it so that you saw as little as possible of the obviously fake shark. She and Spielberg would go round and round over where to cut the shark scenes, because he wanted to show more and she wanted to show less. That's the main problem with this movie, is that they wanted to show too much of the shark because of the 3d.
Not to mention, while he _wanted_ to show more of the shark, the shark wouldn't let them, as it kept breaking down. So they had no other choice _but_ to film it like a Hitchcock movie.
I visited Universal Studios, and we were told that the reason for not seeing the shark very much in the original "Jaws" was because the mechanical shark they made didn't react well to water, so it malfunctioned. So, for most of the film, they couldn't get the shark to come out of the water. I think it actually works well, as it is more suspenseful NOT seeing the shark, as you don't see it coming (except for the music).
The movie still holds a special place in my heart. It was the first film my parents took me to when I was an infant. Yeah it's got a lot of flaws, but I still treasure it. Thanks Minty.

The recent blu-ray is really good especially if you have a 3D tv. The 3D actually makes the effects look decent (instead of just goofy). Some of the odd compositions that look weird when you see it in 2D suddenly make sense (they were staged for maximum 3D pop-out effect). It makes for a very fun watch in proper 3D (not red-green glasses BS).
Totally agree. The 3d blu makes this movie MUCH better. It's not great cinema but stupid fun. A guilty pleasure. I remember seeing a 3d poster for Jaws 3d back in 1983 but I was too young to see the movie in theaters. The poster had those red and blue glasses and I thought that it was really cool. A few years later a friend of mine told me about seeing Jaws 3 in 3d and how cool it was. I dreamed of seeing it in 3d but of course a theatrical re-release was not likely for such a forgettable B movie. When 3d TVs came out one of the reasons I bought one was that I assumed that Jaws 3 would be released in 3d. It took a few years but they finally did. I finally got to watch Jaws 3 the way it was meant to be seen. In the 2d version some of the effects look like cardboard cutouts. They look much more realistic in 3d.
@@andreademontis8807 ☺👍yeah that's the one. I watched it just the other day. Although I couldn't help but think that if he climbed on the Rock 1st at the end he could of pulled her up & they would both be alive instead. It's a good film.
Just watched Jaws, Jaws 2, Jaws 3D, and Jaws the revenge recently because of your jaws videos, I saw Jaws and Jaws the revenge before but interesting to see the others
What exactly is the shark suposed to be doing when it swims up to some glass freezes and then the glass smashes. It's an awful special effect and makes no sense at all. It looks more like a Damien Hirst artwork than a shark on the rampage. It has to be said that this Jaws and the next one had terrible end sequences and shark effects. The Jaws films can easily ranked in order of film though as great, good, Hmmm! and fucking awful
This is my favourite entry in the Jaws series although I'm aware of the negative reviews. This is my favourite entry because of the 3-D procedure, it was Dennis Quaid's breakout film and the English music composer Alan Parker (not to be confused with the English FILM director Alan Parker who directed The Commitments and Evita). Between 1984-1986, the English composer Alan Parker composed the music for the smash hit UK police action-drama series Dempsey and Makepeace starring Michael Brandon and Glynis Barber.
There’s no way this is supposed to be Sea World in Florida. The park is landlocked and there’s several scenes making it look as if it’s on a coastline.
Yes, a majority of the scenes were actually filmed at Sea World Orlando. The area where the baby shark died in the movie is still @ Sea World Orlando in the Key West area and houses the stingray petting and feeding area. I live in Orlando and everytime I go to Sea World is cool to think one of my favorite 3D movies of all time was filmed right where Im standing some 35 years ago.
3-D4U&ME I never said it wasn’t filmed at Sea World in Florida. It was filmed there AND in the panhandle to give the illusion that the park was on waterfront property. The park was portrayed as something more than it was in reality at the time.
I saw Jaws 3-D opening weekend here in the States. I remember enjoying it, but I was 12. I just recently saw it as part of a 3D film festival that also included Spacehunter, Friday the 13th Part 3 and Amityville 3D. The 3D was amazing for all four films (the company that shows these created their own custom 3D glasses) and looked as good as a digitally projected 3D movie. Amityville 3-D was better than I remember, Jaws 3-D was way, way worse. I have the trading card set with the 3D illustrations. They're cheesy as hell, but fun.
I love Jaws 3.... it’s one of the films I watch regularly.. easy, fun watch... takes me back to 80’s childhood... really don’t know why everyone slags it off!!!!!?? It’s Ace!!!
One thing I did enjoy about the movie was the soundtrack, even if it felt out of place because of how upbeat it sounds. Thanks for including segments of it in the video.
i used to have all those Jaws 3D trading cards. buying new packs of cards at the corner store became an obsession. the 3D illustrations on the back were awesome! at least i used to think so when i was a kid. 😛
If they did it like Gremlins 2 Jaws could be a good comedy. Or they could just make a new Jaws film that would make ALL shark movies canon to Jaws. One time when I was at the library there was a little kids (clearly too young for an R rated movie) trying to rent an unrelated Shark movie. One of the Sy-Fy ones, and he was trying to convince his parents that he KNEW all about it and that the movie was a sequel to the Jaws franchise. I have seen a LOT of kids convinced they KNEW what a movie was about when they had ONLY seen the box art but they wanted to brag they HAD in fact seen it.
I saw all those movies in the theater back in 1983 when I was a kid. I remember Jaws 3-D used a really good 3D system which had glasses that used clear lenses. And it worked really good.
A Jaws sequel can only be a comedy. Otherwise you have a fucking zombie shark continuously returning for revenge and you're supposed to take it seriously.
I’m with you mentally, and appreciation for this are the film. It is a guilty pleasure of mine and one day I will get the Blu-ray version for the crisp and clean transfer.
You inspired me "Minty", I watched Jaws3 again last night and enjoyed it! I never realized that the shark actually stops once the glass breaks at the end. That was soooo funny, great pick-up! I saw Jaws 3 (in 3-D) in a small cinema in Swanson Street that no longer exists (Sliver Screen cinema,i think?) I also saw "House of wax in 3-D there as well".Ah the good ole days of independent cinemas!
I remember.....the horror of the eaten alive scene. The horror of the same scene, with the irony, of Manimal being eaten by an animal!!!! Loved the amazingly realistic shark effects......and then loved eating ‘Jaws’ crisps each day after school!!!
Calvin "BOO-SHARD" not ""BOO-CARD." LOL! Come on, Minty... I thought you saw the movie! ;) Great videos, mate!! Love your channel! Please do a "10 things" video for Evil Dead 2, Army Of Darkness, Darkman and maybe some of the classic Universal Monsters originals??
This morning a minty saved my life! Great tune man! Always makes me dance and groove around the work floor hahah also I love this movie Dennis Quaid in his prime! Hahah
Out of the three originals, it easily places last but the special effects (of the original, not the damn special editions!) far surpassed it's predecessors.
Love all the Jaws movies even the revenge lol, great video awesome work and great to learn more about the older movies we love. Definitely should do facts about Conan the barbarian and destroyer.
Wow Minty back again with a bang. This time with Jaws 3D. So nice of u minty, u do videos on Low ratings/ Flopped movies also like this. Thank u minty!!
I always remembered the scene of the shark swimming into the glass swimming nice and slow with 0 movement in its body. And those shots of the mini-sub, so much for practical always being better than CG. Lastly, my favorite part of the movie is Louis Gossett jr. saying, ". . . some, some, damn fish!".
When I was in vacation in Quebec a few years ago I watched this in my hotel room. Now I wake up exhausted in Mae Sot Thailand to this video and the circle feels complete.
Still an entertaining movie, though definitely not the best of the Jaws films. I always thought Bess Armstrong was super cute too. I always liked the idea of the underwater control tower where you could just swim right in, drain the water, and climb right up! Thanks Minty!
I just watched it recently and I still enjoy it. It also has Barbara Eden in it. She played Jeanie in I dream of Jeanie. She’s one of the tour guides that gets trapped in the tunnel with the people.
I love this movie... it's definitely in the 'so bad it's good' category...so much unintentional comedy... it's absolutely hilarious... I wish they would reedit this movie with today's 3D technology, then it would be perfect...
I remember “The Goonies” Tops Trading Cards. That’s where I learned Stef’s character’s name. They only say it once in the movie. The octopus card was very confusing as we never saw that scene.
I loved jaws 3-D it’s one of the first movies I remember watching in theaters. The 3-D really popped off the screen. And I used to have the trading cards that & the first Batman movie
Always had a soft spot for this, probably because of the Sea World setting which enthralled me as a kid... That being said, it could've been interesting to see Joe Dante's version. =D
An additional objection to this movie, Sea World, Florida, is land locked in the center of Florida. How did the shark get there, fly? Perhaps if this had happened at Sea World, in Australia, which I believe is near the ocean (Although I am American and have never been there, only saw it on the original H2O.) it might have made more sense. Unless they trucked the shark in, there is no water connection from Sea World, Orlando, Florida to either the Gulf of Mexico, or the Atlantic. I love your reviews, keep up the good work.
Huh, I thought the 3rd dimension is depth. My math teacher would be surprised. I'm just messing with you, Minty. 😂 But seriously, good list. Thank you.
I saw it at a movie theater in Baltimore, MD summer of 1983 great summer. It was one of the best movies I've seen in 3-D. The universal logo looked awesome in 3-D.
Hey Minty ur Jawsome and it's the first one to show someone getting eaten underwater, and me personally I wish there was more of that, i mean it's a shark/horror movie right, at least the effects and cgi was unforgettable 😂
Admittedly I was just a little kid when Jaws 3D, Return of the Jedi, and Superman III came out, but I remember being excited about all of them. My parents wouldn't let me watch Jaws, but my friends that saw it were all enthralled with it. Looking back, Return of the Jedi was maybe weaker than the second one, but I still loved it. And Superman III was still exciting. I watched it many times. I saw Jaws III years later, and I didn't think it was that bad. I haven't seen it since I was 17, so maybe it's time to give it another look through critical adult eyes.
Jaws 3D is terrific fun! Look past the cheesy special effects and you have a great story, a really cool location and a hell of a cast! I unashamedly love Jaws 3!
I still remember having the ViewMaster reels for this movie. The pictures on them weren't always in order as in the movie, but they made the movie look like it was a good movie. Was a bit disappointed when I first saw the movie when CBS aired it on TV.

The 3D in the theater on this was stellar. Truly good 3D, but let down by actual bad images and fake looking fix (a separate thing from the 3D itself)
3D BR's for the win
Awesome background music choices Minty and as always, great reviews and quirky obscure details. Keep up the great work!
And now we have The Meg.... seems like story is meant to repeat itself...
I enjoyed the Meg. Its the Jaws 4 we needed. Though there are
comedic parts in the movie, it is well done.
@Bealzer Mcgraw Shark Night was awesome! Meg however was shite!
Jason Statham stabbing the Meg in the eye with the spear was dumbest thing about it! 47 meters down was good aswell as the Shallows.
@@pecker2-9 The reef.
I saw it in the theaters and people were laughing at that scene. In a way Jaws 3D was really a spoof.
Man I love all the epic disco music you incorporated into this video...thanks for the memories...wish I still had my bell bottoms LOL!
Your comment about Calvin literally made me laugh out loud. That was hysterical!
Yes!!!!! Id love to see all the other Jaws movies too! Keep up the fantastic work Minty!
Phillip Paree And I lived in Florida at the time I saw this film, so there was absolutely NO way I could give this film any degree of seriousness
I wonder did they write it for San Diego but switched to Orlando… and hiding that plot hole by creative editing
15:00 he,s like no grinades, i didnt just open a multi million dollar aquatic park to lose it all because of some some some dam fish
I love Jaws 3.... it’s one of the films I watch regularly.. easy, fun watch... takes me back to 80’s childhood... really don’t know why everyone slags it off!!!!!?? It’s Ace!!!
I'm addicted to your 80's films retrospectives 👍🏼
Btw Dennis Quaid & Louis Gosset Jr. In Enemy Mine is a good one to check out if I were you!
ENEMY MINE was awesome 😎
The best part of the glass breaking moment is that Jaws doesn't even move its tail, instead just gliding along inexplicably.
One thing I did enjoy about the movie was the soundtrack, even if it felt out of place because of how upbeat it sounds. Thanks for including segments of it in the video.
Ah wow! You gave us 3-D shark feed. So bad, it's a guilty pleasure.
Jaws in Sea World. I liked this movie just for that.
i used to have all those Jaws 3D trading cards. buying new packs of cards at the corner store became an obsession. the 3D illustrations on the back were awesome! at least i used to think so when i was a kid. 😛
I can never get enough Jaws videos, thanks Minty!
Anybody else see C3POs 2 gold legs!! Damn Mandela effect.
A Jaws sequel can only be a comedy. Otherwise you have a fucking zombie shark continuously returning for revenge and you're supposed to take it seriously.
I remember seeing this at the cinema with the anaglyph red and cyan 3D glasses. The harpoon coming at you out of the screen was cool.
I’m with you mentally, and appreciation for this are the film. It is a guilty pleasure of mine and one day I will get the Blu-ray version for the crisp and clean transfer.
Love all your videos, Minty! I watch them daily. Keep up the good work 👍
You inspired me "Minty", I watched Jaws3 again last night and enjoyed it!
I thought you saw the movie! ;)
Great videos, mate!!
Hahah
Um... Return of the Jedi was Star Wars downfall? Let's take a step back and debate that one.
Jason Merced Ewocks. Enough said.
Zacary Bruner
Haha. Good point but I loved the Ewoks and their side movies as a kid.
Zacary Bruner what's an Ewock? Anything like an Ewok! LOL
Out of the three originals, it easily places last but the special effects (of the original, not the damn special editions!) far surpassed it's predecessors.
@Bealzer Mcgraw if you say so 😂 👍
Love all the Jaws movies even the revenge lol, great video awesome work and great to learn more about the older movies we love. Definitely should do facts about Conan the barbarian and destroyer.
The opening credits where the fish was eating was on of the best 3-d uses almost ever
Wow Minty back again with a bang. This time with Jaws 3D. So nice of u minty, u do videos on Low ratings/ Flopped movies also like this. Thank u minty!!
Loving the Heaven 17 on this one Minty. Nice work keep them coming
I enjoyed this movie very much.
Showed jaws 3 to my ten year old daughter she laughed the whole way through
I always remembered the scene of the shark swimming into the glass swimming nice and slow with 0 movement in its body. And those shots of the mini-sub, so much for practical always being better than CG. Lastly, my favorite part of the movie is Louis Gossett jr. saying, ". . . some, some, damn fish!".
Man,u rock.thanx for the movie tidbits.
When I was in vacation in Quebec a few years ago I watched this in my hotel room. Now I wake up exhausted in Mae Sot Thailand to this video and the circle feels complete.
This is one of the best channels on RUclips.
Still an entertaining movie, though definitely not the best of the Jaws films. I always thought Bess Armstrong was super cute too. I always liked the idea of the underwater control tower where you could just swim right in, drain the water, and climb right up! Thanks Minty!
Really enjoyed that video and have been listening to the Jaws 3 OST since watching it.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre the next generation or the wishmaster series. Keep up the great work Minty
I remember seeing this in the theatre as a kid. It was my first and last 3D film. The glasses where wild.
I just watched it recently and I still enjoy it. It also has Barbara Eden in it. She played Jeanie in I dream of Jeanie. She’s one of the tour guides that gets trapped in the tunnel with the people.
What ?!?!
This is in my top 1 of guilty pleasure, remote drop movies!!!
Thank you.
"It started off as a spoof." Oh. That explains . . . a lot, actually.
minty: ppl wont like an over the top shark comedy.
the meg: hold my beer.
I enjoy all the Jaws movies,I love anything shark related
I saw it at a movie theater in Baltimore, MD summer of 1983 great summer. It was one of the best movies I've seen in 3-D. The universal logo looked awesome in 3-D.
PSYCHOTIC PREHISTORIC HELL-BEAST!!
Hahahahahahaha
The PERFECT description for that ugly shark on the Jaws 2 poster.
Hey Minty ur Jawsome and it's the first one to show someone getting eaten underwater, and me personally I wish there was more of that, i mean it's a shark/horror movie right, at least the effects and cgi was unforgettable 😂
Finally someone who also appreciates Superman 3!.
Ok Jaws 3 was a spoof, I would be so happy! Also, 15:01, good one Calvin 😂
