There's only one or two other airlines in the World doing something similar. It would not surprise me if Air NZ quietly drops the SkyCouch. They have used these since 2011 so the idea has not exactly gone viral in the airline World.😂

Ahhh marinated shredded beef on a roll is called a Sloppy Joe here in the States - you must try it. They are delish. But they are airplane unfriendly. And very clothing friendly. Hahahah.

Great flight, and yeah great innovation of Economy Sky Couch. Specially you booked 3 seats for yourself. Can't wait for your adventure in New Zealand.
So to get 3 seats to use as a bed you paid for 3 how would the night had been if 2 other people had been in those seats?
Yes Sky Couch is a "great innovation" but strangely, except for a couple of Asian airlines, the other global airlines have shunned this product. There must be a reason as Air NZ will licence Sky Couch.

Another great video. I am 195cm tall so that might present some issues when in "sleep mode" on the flight. In fairness though I have heard great things about Air New Zealand.

Interesting RUclips. When Sky Couch was launched many years ago it was considered a revolution in economy air travel. But except for Air NZ and a couple of other Asian airlines the other global airlines have ignored Sky Couch (Air NZ will allow other airlines to buy Sky Couch for their planes but they have not bothered).
My partner and I flew Air New Zealand to Vancouver and back with the Skycouch. We did not use it as a bed - it did not fit the 2 of us, but we really liked it for the extra room, and having the 3 seats to ourselves. This gave me the isle seat I like, and her the window seat which she likes, and we had space in the middle for elbows! We did not have to worry about getting up and down around a third passenger, and we had plenty of room in the overhead storage. I think it was worth the extra cost for the 13 hour flights.
I agree about this being the best way for a couple to use the Skycouch. You had the extra room, the ability to watch the IFE movies without straining your neck, being able to eat mid flight snacks, etc. From what I saw on other videos when the seats are made into the skycouch the seats are permanently reclined - which must be annoying for the passengers seated behind.
Never been able to sleep on a plane so that could be interesting to try. You got nice weather for the start of your trip. Bushyboy Oz.

This is how flying should be, relaxing and enjoyable - not to be in cramp seats that are getting narrower with paper-thin cushions and awkward seating position
I was in New Zealand in January 2006 for 21 days. It was fantastic, we drove about 2,500 miles staying in B&B's and were on both the North and South island. I definitely want to get back.

I'm 187cm tall. The sky couch didn't work very well for me. However, my wife being much shorter, found it a little more comfortable.

We traveled Air New Zealand a number of times when we lived in Australia to see family in the US. The AKL-IAH leg is especially long. Good airline though. Sky Couch wouldn’t work for me at 190cm, but I guess sleeping sitting up against side wall and legs stretched could work…. Kia Ora!

Hi Kuga-san I think we were in nz at same time but I was in the south heading north. I did the pacific explorer Christchurch to Blenheim. I have videos on my channel where I went. Hope you travelled down to Queenstown. Good to see sky couch. I did wonder how it was. Were you able to wear a seat belt that’s the only question I have. Thank you for sharing. 😊🙏

That’s not bad. Don’t get me wrong, but that if the flight isn’t full too and that give you enough sleeping space.

It's not really economy when you pay twice as much as a "normal" economy seat, now is it?

But I am glad the option exists.
I just wish someone would offer this from amsterdam to Japan for a reasonable price.....as I have trouble sitting still for that long. (as in, real painful problems)
It's more expensive than economy plus but a lot cheaper than business, which makes sense because you are essentially buying 3 economy seats. For some people who want the privacy and being able to lie flat but don't want to pay for business, it might be worth it!

So basically you paid, to have a whole row of 3 seats like a so called bed which was not even the length of a normal person,when,if you are lucky to not have passengers seating in the 2 seats next to you and save some money.Oh how clever of the New Zealanders.Nice video though..
