Watching this makes me realize that gymnastic is probably the most physical intense sport. These champions endure so much pain to their bodies that they become numb by it. They practice for years for a slot in the Olympic. By 22, they are considered old and force to retire. Then what? Companies stop going after them for sponsorship. Then all the old injuries start to creep up like arthritis. Imagine those gymnasts who did not even make it to the elite status. Gives me a whole new respect for gymnasts.

Yes I am a gymnast my self I am only twelve. And I already practice 11 hours a week I’ve been hurt and I cry a lot at practice it hurts to make a mistake to split the beam to land on your neck it hurts to hyperextend your knee it hurts after practice I feel stressed and in pain but there is no stopping because gymnastics is not a choice to skip conditioning or skip floor or vault Orr beam or bars sometimes we say we feel sick to get out of doing that stuff we work hard to get to the spot we’re we are

…I used to go to brestyans,(the gym I’m pretty sure they’re in in the video) the same gym ally raisman is from, and she used to be there. When she had just finished her first Olympics there were a bunch of people who suddenly wanted to go there, but since there were so many people it became overcrowded. My team had around 30 kids and only one coach at one point. The owner of the gym also wouldn’t use heating or air conditioning to cut down on costs, so it was insanely hot in the summer and freezing cold in the winter(once a pipe froze flooding the gym). So in conclusion, seeing these gymnasts is great, but there can definitely be downfalls that come with it.

Laurie is trying to get back into it but I don’t think she will make it, she is really out of it for the olympics. Simone is one of those people that I feel like will also step back. She has been in competitions a lot. Madison kocian is now in UCLA so she is competing at the NCAA level which I feel like is a great step for her to take. Aly I have no clue about and gabby I think is also stepping back.

flexility just think about it this way, though:. had the tie breaker gone in her favor, she would've won bronze. we may not have had the pleasure of seeing her make an incredible comeback and subsequent silver medal win in Rio. remember her saying, "5th time's a charm?" after floor in Rio? she wanted an AA medal so badly. I truly believe a bronze in London would've been 'enough' for her.

At 39-41 seconds the girl doing the back tucks is Mykayla Skinner not Maddie Kocian. You can tell cause in the background you see the big desert lights sign. Maddie goes to WOGA.

here’s my lowkey heartbreaking gym story, i have done gymnastics my whole entire life, im 14 and have been doing this sport for 13 years. i had such a drive and passion for this sport, and worked so hard everyday. i had just finished level 5 and the summer working on level 6, backhandsprings on beam broke both my wrists. as many times as the healed, they broke again and again, both of them breaking a total of 3-4 times each. on top of that, my back was pulled and torn up. that was two years ago, and my list of injuries is: broken knee, broken wrists, broken ankles, broken toes, sprained ankles, broken fingers, osgood in my knees, hyperextended and torn elbow ligament, and a horrible black eye. but i work through that every day. because i don’t believe in failing, im doing the best i can because i want to be good. i’m doing it all for the 5 year old me flipping around on the carpet and doing split around the house. all for her.
