    Loooove this! I have the exact same reaction to time blocking, I desperately want it to work for me and see the value of it, but the moment I get off track, I tend to throw the whole day out or just feel a massive amount of tension over it. And today me also really loves for some reason to rebel against yesterday me that set the blocks 😂
    I’m also finally giving Notion a real try right now, so I’m excited to include this into my rhythms for that!

      Haha I’m glad it’s not just me rebelling against my past self 😅 Notion can be such an amazing tool! I hope you’re able to create a system that works for you! Just remember it’s an iterative process 😌 it’s taken me quite a few years of tweaking to get to this system that works with my brain. Wishing you all the best 🥰

    For those who don't know what TIME BLOCKING TASK MANAGEMENT means :
    "Time blocking is a time management method that asks you to divide your day into blocks of time.
    Each block is dedicated to accomplishing a specific task or group of tasks, and only those specific tasks."

    • @newroadstravelled
      @newroadstravelled  8 месяцев назад +2

      Hi @kan-zee thanks for sharing 😊 I know I mentioned breaking my time up hour by hour doesn’t work for me. I just meant that having blocks of time set out to work on specific types of tasks doesn’t work well with my brain. I know a lot of people have success with this method! And when I said that my method has an essence of time blocking, I meant that I am roughly blocking out my day by setting specific tasks at specific times (just a little more flexible!)

    This video has a lot of good tips, I subscribed! Only issue is your volume seems to be pretty quiet but looks like that was fixed in later videos.
    Honestly I feel the same way about time blocking, but the idea of splitting the day up, not just by hour, seems appealing to me, I might try that. I know for me as I get tired, I flat out can't function that well so should be putting important tasks in the first half of the day.
    Also for the paper vs digital, I guess it depends on the person but I know for me my digital systems always become too bloated and overwhelming, which is partly why I'm using paper right now (and also, I need to be able to see it in front of me, I think I have ADHD, if I don't see something I can easily forget about it) but I do think a combination of paper/digital is good just in case you are away from your one main system.

    Yeah, I''m going to give it a try. I used Notion a few years ago but it got overwhelming (meaning I seemed to get less done) but opened it back up a few weeks ago. Instead of putting my whole life in it, I just have basically my "To Do's" and my blog content calendar. I think I'm doing well with the calendar but my To Do's definitely were not working. So, I'll give it a try and let you know.
    PS. Your videos are pretty amazing for such a new YT channel. Congrats.

      Thank you so much! That is so kind of you 🥰 when I first started with Notion, it took up a lot of my time messing around with setting up and tweaking the pages (and not actually getting much done 😅). It’s a great idea to start small and build up from there 😌 I hope you’re able to find a way to get your to-do list working! Sometimes it just takes time and trial and error 😊

    • @newroadstravelled
      @newroadstravelled  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah there a lots of little tricks that help in certain situations 😊 I’m planning to make a video of my favourites. But I would caution not to be too strict on things like this. Once it turns into: I ‘should’ do this first, you end up creating resistance and it makes the task harder to accomplish!

    • @howtomakeyourlifeeasier
      @howtomakeyourlifeeasier 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@newroadstravelled That's true. I sometimes struggle with "eat the frog" tasks and prefer them to push them as a last task before heading home from work. I need a bit of domapine in the morning!

    Thanks so much for these tips and insights! A lot of them makes sense to me, and I think it will be really helpful for me to try and use notion, especially with your detaled description on how tha app works. I have one question tho - d you have any tips or tricks on how to not be distracted from other stuff on your phone, now that its digital - that is one of my issues?
    And to answer your final question - if I can - bc yes I will try to implement some of it definitly! I am useing a mix of Bullet Journaling and digital (Goodle) calader, which is both on my phone and computer. But The toggle thing might be a gamechanger for me. I am tho also trying a new approach to BUJo'ing this time around, which is (in very short) Jashii Corrin's cyclic (4 weeks) rather than montly approach, since it doesn't really worj in our brains to split the week in half just bc a new month starts.
    Greetings from Gunilla in Denmark

    • @newroadstravelled
      @newroadstravelled  7 месяцев назад

      Thank you so much 🥰 I’m glad you found the video helpful! Being distracted by my phone was one of my long term battles! It depends what you’re getting distracted by. If it’s social media then I would recommend trialling some third party apps that open when you click on a specific app. I am using one sec (only for RUclips as it is the app I get distracted by the most!) and the only reason it works is because it’s kind of broken 😅 when I click you tube it opens first and makes me take a deep breathe and then asks if I’m sure I want to go to RUclips or offers to close the app. But then sometimes if I try to go to RUclips it will keep opening every 7 seconds… it’s just inconvenient enough that it makes me stop watching RUclips!!
      I will be doing a video on this topic as I think it’s a really important one that I know a lot of people struggle with. I am definitely still not immune, but I have come a long way!
      Bullet journalling impresses me so much! I also love the idea of using a 4 week cycle instead of the standard calendar. In my upcoming video on my monthly reset, I had to work out how to reset weekly and monthly and ended up adding in a mini reflection for the last 2-4 days of the month to account for the difference. But I love this idea of using a different cyclic approach 😊

    I do the same! I have tried so many apps, unsuccessfully, and some have failed! My struggle with notion is that we are a Microsoft shop, but it doesn’t really get shared with the other apps, Email and Cal but maybe that’s not a big deal is there a template that you started with that made you more successful in the beginning with Notion?

    • @newroadstravelled
      @newroadstravelled  7 месяцев назад

      Hi there ☺️ what are you trying to share between the other apps? Maybe there’s a work-around for it!
      Notion has a bunch of templates on their website (you can search 'notion templates' in your browser). It depends what you’re wanting to use Notion for 😊 I usually start with a blank page and just start making headings, bullet points and toggles as I need them.
      I think I just watched a bunch of tutorials on RUclips when I first started to get an idea of what is possible.
      I have a video where I make my Life Dashboard in notion from scratch if that helps 😊 it’s not a tutorial necessarily, but let me know if that’s something you’d be interested in

    • @newroadstravelled
      @newroadstravelled  8 месяцев назад

      It totally depends on what works for you 😊 I find that having a long list of tasks is overwhelming, that’s why I break mine up into each day of the week and then break it down further into three time slots. I find that I’m far more productive and feel a lot more on top of things by setting out my to-do list this way 🥰
