What a beast of a kit. The floatplane havng a cockpit killed me. Fuso is perhaps one of my favourite ships from early 20th century. And The Gin Palace, of course. Great review as usual, Harry.
This review made me buy the Fuso. Bought it on Ebay and payed a good amount for, but i don't regret it. Good kit, it is a fun build! That Pagoda-mast was a little tricky, but it went well 😊 i have now bought IJN Haruna, so i hope it is as good as Fuso! Keep up with your videos!😊👍
YES! A marvelous kit of an amazing looking ship. I've got this one and the wood deck as well, plan to start on building it soon. (I am presently building a 1/450 scale Shinano by Hasegawa...also a very nice kit, recently molded and very well detailed.)

I just bought the Fujimi 1/350 Scale IJN Haruna. I understand what you mean about prices, i bought mine for lets say £150 (including postage and packing) but i've seen prices ranging from £150 to £190 to even £260 on ebay. I do like Fujimi as i also have the Fujimi 1/350 IJN Ise and even without PE (i don't like PE) its very detailed right out of the box. I also understand the attraction to the Japanese ships. The fact the Ise was half an aircraft carrier and all its supports for the flight deck attracted me to it and the Haruna i liked the style of its tower and the slight oddity of the catapult being between its 3rd and 4th main guns.

I'm finishing the 1/700 Fujimi, full hull Fuso, it's a beauty of a ship with those crazy Pagoda superstructures, I think that my build looks okay, I went full P.E., It's my 2nd ship, the first one was the Yamato 1/350 Tamiya old mold +P.E., I loved it too
@@HarryHoudiniModels My eyes are bad (I'm 56), I use glasses + magnifiers glasses, I work on P.E. in short periods. I think that P.E is not fun but it's rewarding.
I’ve had prescription 3X reading glasses for years so I could see the work I’m doing. Now going for 4 times magnification to cope! We find ways to cope.
Yes, if you're serious about building something as fantastic as the IJN Fuso, you really do need to research by looking at original photos, this is a full hull kit in 1/350 and there's several photoetch kits available, and again, with plastic most things are over scaled, the photoetch will give you a much better detail such as on the tower, rails, gun barrel that are normally brass you cut the original plastic off and replace with brass. I built this in 1/700, but this beauty worth the money - absolutely
I live in England and I seen the 700 kit 38 pounds sterling new is it about the same in Australia that’s really expensive but a good choice really good ship I build 700 scale with etched brass

As I said in the video, I’ve purchased the Tom’s Modelworks detail set for IJN battleships. I’ll just improve the cranes, catapult and radar, plus add some railings. The rest of the kit is perfect as is.

Not yet… need to complete my Varyag, Graf Spee, Warspite, Seydlitz and Deutschland first… too many on the bench. But when they are done the Fuso is top of my list :)
It’s just an arbitrary way to compare prices for kits without the confusion of saying dollars. I found out early on that most viewers would assume US dollars, but I would be talking about Australian dollars. So 10 shekels is $100AUD or currently $77USD.
In theory yes... my build rate needs to be a dozen kits a year before I retire. Many are quick builds I could do in a week. Some are more long term like the wood ships. I’ve completed over 20 kits in a year before, when work was quiet. So yes, very doable. Plus now if I buy a new kit, I sell off something I’ve lost interest in, to balance the stash.
@@HarryHoudiniModels sweet as a kid i used to like the 72nd matchbox kits as i got older i stopped building kits but in the last year or im slowly getting back into it so i wondering what happened with the matchbox kits why did they stop making them do you know i loved the tanks with the little diorama
They are a little worn out, but some of the injected kits I have seen still look good, even if you don’t get that lovely coloured plastic Matchbox was famous for.

Me too, but when I saw the price he was selling it for I jumped at it, even though I had not budged for any kit purchases this month.

No wonder it is an expensive kit, with the level of engineering and detail. There are some build videos of it and the results seem pretty impressive.
It is worth the expense and yes should build up, with some care and attention, into a very impressive model.

Revell of Germany has a lot of the old Matchbox moulds and rereleases the kits under their own label.
