It would be really lovely if they start actually bringing out quests for the old players that have levelled up so much. It's kinda gets very boring when you Ve got no quests and and people cause so much trouble with groups their clubs. Especially going around bullying people because they Ve got so many players in their clubs they go around blinking other people it's really disgusting actually. I Avoid clubs.
I actually wanted to buy that black coat. The funny thing is: you can't buy it unless you worked on your reputation with New Hillcrest. They put an item into that discount-shop, which the players in that beginner area have no way to be able to buy. Genius.

Okay but on a serious note, I did comment on their Instagram telling them WHY exactly their double star coins offer that they do on a monthly basis was NOT an exclusive Black Friday sale. I also told them what they could have done to fix it for the next time they did this. Like lowering the price by 10% for that weekend, back to the original price, or maybe even a 20% discount on the 10k SC ONLY deal, to encourage people to buy that offer instead.. But legit as I was scrolling through the comments we had people making fun of each other for "being poor and not being able to afford sc", and sending death threats to the team despite the fact that the people who manage their social media have no say in what offers are put out regardless of how we feel lmao. I'm honestly baffled, its terrible to see the community attacking the team AND each other at the same time, and while a lot of us don't like what SSO did, theres no reason to take it this seriously. Just say what you think about it, tell them how they can improve, and move on.

I honestly think that if they lower the price for starcoins, then a lot of people will buy it more because its less expensive. Like I only buy star coins once in a year because of the terrible prices. So yeah I kinda think SSO would make more money by lowering the prices.
I sometimes wonder if there are any commercials and marketing professionals in the SSO team. When you know that they don't even have people hired to do the quests in the game, you'd think that their business strategy is to hire as few and as unqualified people as possible so that they don't have to pay them too much.

Well, saving pocket money, wish money for christmas or birthdays. I think kids should learn that they can't have everything right now if they want it. It's a good lesson, especially now, since everything gets more expensive. It's important for them to learn to budget and prioritize where they spent their money. Is it a cheap toy every week, or save it longer for star coin or a new gaming system? It's their choice. Desicions have consequences, if you buy something expensive you have to wait again fore some time to be able to spent money in something expensive again. It's how I grew up. And plase, don't steal any credit card. It will be discovered and you probably won't be allowed to play SSO for a long time. You can maybe look for a summer job instead.

If "save up and get a job" is your answer, then you should take a look around. Being able to get a job is a privilege if I've ever seen one, on so many levels. While I understand and agree that young people need to handle money in a better way overall, it's not really that easy for all of us. Those of us who have it tough are the ones who get hit hard, not the "lazy" ones.

But if money is that tight, it is probably wiser to not buy virtual currency for an online game and rather go for free ones. There are some with horses if you search for them. But yeah, something is wrong in the system, the gap between poor and rich is getting wider. But unfortunatley only the politicans can change something, or charities can help out. But that is another topic. The world is not fair. But to blame SSO won't help it. Inflation is also there in Sweden, currently 7% I think, so they have higher costs as well. I guess I already sound like a granny. Kids these days... You know.

In my country, parents get a certain ammount for childeren each month. Every parent. If the ammount is enough, is a different question, with the crisis now. there is a different programm paying for an affordable appartment, if the money is not enough, and if you have no job, you can collect unemployment (arguable not enough in inflation) and medical expenses with reason are covered as well. I see that not every contry has that safety in place if you fall on hard times.But honestly, no child should go hungry. And no paren't either. I think the weirdest thing about sso is how they started a lot of projects in the game but... forgot about them? Like what's with the forest trees around silversong river? Or dinovalley in general? They started updating the old areas and then just... forgot it and stopped. Everything that made the game has stopped and the game is entirely a different one now, reason why I stopped playing a year ago. It's an empty horse training/racing game. And that is not a game I started playing. Edit: also I think all the recoding and updating graphics is just a waste of time and money for the company. At this point they would save so much time and possibly money by just remaking the game

SSO prices are damned high. I wish they would understand that, but as long as they corner the marker, it will never change. Devs who make horse games, do, unfortunately exploit the passion of players. It's sad and I hate it, but as long as we are THIS passionate about horses, they will always be able to make money off of us. Originally, I bought the lifetime account (it was 72 bucks at the time). I had a whole entire discord server that was dedicated to my sso club, and that I've had some fantastic experiences with. Even so, I had to leave this game behind because of the problem with the prices and just generally misleading customer service. I've been here since around 2015, and its so stupid how the creators are being so blind to the actual community. Like not aging the game with the audience for example (I know its technically a kids game, but since its been around for so long the original audience has grown now). This is my childhood game too, and was also one of the last things my dad and I shared and laughed about together. So I want this game to grow and better itself. I appreciate you making this video, even if people hate it, because sometimes people need to think about WHY someone feels angry, instead of just immediately getting defensive about a game they love.
@@BitterCyder I said SSL--StarShine Legacy--which came out in 2005 and is the predecessor to SSO but features similar locations and characters. It's literally my childhood. I've been with it longer than most of the players because I got SSL at launch.

I played back in 2015, came back, sold all my old broken horses, and got 10k in money so that I could buy two pieces of tack or clothing? So then the black Friday sale was announced, and I got excited thinking I could afford something...I was so wrong lol I don't want to see the game go downhill, or the community turn against each other, but something has to change!

I agree with you completely it’s just sad how they don’t pay attention to any of there players. I understand the whole money and wanting it, but lower the prices, of a lot of things. I do agree the graphics are getting so much better. But I feel there was no point on doing the Black Friday update if they weren’t going to lower the prices like A LOT. I find it very sad at how and where the game has become.
You can always count on Dennis to say what no one else will, and honestly I think the SSO community is specifically looking for drama or things to complain about because they have nothing better to do with their day.
But the community will speak about and has been, but there certain player that will shut any kind of criticism down, not matter is it’s valid or not. They turn the people that actually care into haters… We have been complaining for years and it keeps going on. We shouldn’t act like no one is saying something.

Honestly what makes me even more angry are the social media influencers and RUclipsrs praising SSO for every little thing they release and defending them for everything. Obviously a company that just wants money is going to deny any wrongdoing…but there are so many RUclipsrs and popular players encouraging sso and telling them how amazing everything is!
I will say, I loved the quest we just had to do (granted I was 3 “instances” behind so I spent an evening doing it) but it felt like an actually meaningful, forward moving quest FINALLY and the upcoming winter update looks amazing with beautiful magical horses. I also encountered a glitch with the Star Coin discount between the app & desktop. Overall I think they could’ve done better & made WAYYYY more money with this update. But, I prefer they pay attention to main story quests, the map, and making the winter even worthwhile 🙂
I love your videos so much. Also they change the bunny race, with updated bunny's and no more having to click on the rabbits. honestly I hated that they did that. clicking on the bunnies actually made it more challenging. now that race feels too easy now.
kinda wierd that sso put a black friday sale a few weeks before the christmas update, ( with 2 new horses mind you ) like they want you to buy a horse, then to realise that you dont have anymore star coins for the limited time horses that come with the christmas update, meaning you most likely wil buy star coins.
That’s almost exactly what happened to me 🤧 I had forgotten the TWH were coming out, so I bought an Arabian bc they were cheaper, so now I can only afford to buy one horse and not 2 like I had planned (the TWH and Icelandic Special Horse). Pretty smart on their part, but frustrating nonetheless.

I’m glad to hear you say that sso and rdr2 can’t be compared regarding price. Because sso, as an mmorpg, SHOULD be more expensive than rdr2. Because mmorpgs are more expensive than triple A games. The team behind rdr2 worked under a contract lasting x amount of years, until they achieved a final product, and then they’re done at Rockstar and they don’t get paid anymore.they have a final product of which they can put a price-tag on, and estimate beforehand how many copies they have to sell to break even - and then some. The team behind Star Stable will, as an mmorpg, technically never have a final product. Star Stable is CHEAP (what??) compared to other mmorpgs in the form of offering a Life Time membership, giving you the opportunity of not being tied to a subscription service. I’m amazed by the fact that they still offer this, and there’s a reason why other mmorpgs don’t do this: Because they won’t earn enough money from it. And Star Stable needs paying customers, constantly, to maintain servers and update the game with new content. Maybe Star Coins would be cheaper if they stopped offering Life Time, but I’d rather pay more for sc once or twice a year than having to pour money in to the game every month to be able to play it. You could argue that RDO, with its online functions, also has a server that needs to be maintained. But the argue falls dead on the fact that Rockstar for one is a huge company who has better income elsewhere, and secondly that rdo is, in fact, dead. Another significant factor is the lack of competition for sso. But I’m hoping that’s about to change. TOTALLY support the opinions about their Black friday deal being shit though. The people who can’t afford star coins on a normal day was left disappointed yet again…
… To put things in to perspective: My boyfriend has played World of Warcraft for 10 years. There’s no option for a «lifetime subscription» in WoW, so to spare some pennies he pays for 6 months at a time. That’s $155 for one year. Over ten years that equals $1550. On top of this there’s other micro-transactions for in-game currencies. He’s probably spent well above $2000 on WoW, and if he wants to keep playing the game for ten more years… Well then double it. This comparison isn’t totally fair, because WoW has a much bigger player base (+ they’re older in average)and the game in general is much bigger. But it’s a more fair conparison than any triple A game out there.
If they were actually trying to make a good Black Friday deal that players enjoyed rather than a quick scheme posing as a BF Deal, they would have either: 1. Discounted current and popular items (especially updated tack and clothes, not those crunchy looking saddles, shirts, etc) 2. Offered some sort of shop/seller that allows you to pick any horse in the game (that's still in the game) and you get ONE horse for 50% off. Then the rest, if they wanted, could be restricted based on breeds. 3. Offered HEAVY discounts on SC or SR that we would ACTUALLY never see except on Black Friday. Double starcoins deals are not special anymore when they come out at least once per month... What about a TRIPLE starcoin deal? A 'get a horse of your choosing for free with certain bundles' deal??
Even though the sc prices are very high, it is dope that they have double sc weekends and a lot of offers that if you buy the ig bulk pachages of 1000 sc and up, they often have offers where you get tack, clothing or pets.
And I think compared to other games where you can buy in-game stuff which is cheaper than the expensive sc, those games belong to a bigger compagny that develops more games and also earns money from merchandising a lot, like EA games and Rockstar Games who have 2 major, bown up games with multiple versions (RDR and GTA). I also wonder if those 1600 people worked on that game all at once, and maybe among those 1600 people there were also PR workers, doing PR for other games at the same time aswell. That is a lot of speculationg, but if this is the case it makes sense why RDR can make their buyable stuff cheaper. compared to SSO, owned by Star stable Entertainment AB, who also have multiple games, but only 2 are online and still being developed (The apps and SSO) Sweden is expensive as hell (at least to other europeans) so they have to earn a lot of money to pay their employees a normal salary and they barely earn from merchandise.

It's honestly SO ridiculous that a single horse costs a minimum of $30, which once you get it to level 15 there is really not much more progress you can do with it in game. Meanwhile other AA gaming companies such as Fortnite, Apex, Overwatch, etc, charge only $10-$20 for a skin that is highly animated. You can also a buy a battle pass for less than that and get other limited skins. SSO treats the community as if we're stupid and will continue giving them money no matter what just because it is "the only horse MMO". It's extremely predatory and corrupt when you consider that SSO is a game designed to cater toward CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS. So they're basically trying to rip off parents money. They could have done 20% off ALL horses in game, but they probably never will due to their greed.

I totally agree Star stable is a great game and is online which most horse games cannot compete with with a few tweaks they can be back on track eg male characters in sso and change prices if possible and minor details but your humour makes this 10000 % better and you show the reality that a lot of people sweap under the rug thancks for more amazing content ( also i mean who wouldn't wanna be a dinky rat i mean come on ) xx

It's kind of sad to see how the white knights and fake sso youtubers just ignore the high price, they might say something like "but it's a company" bruh, like you said comparing sso to other games with far more developers that still can pay everyone who worked on it and get finance. This game pushes 'get the latest thing' too much! New horses and tack far too often and next to no new full quests or in game content. People play to buy the newest thing and that's it.. it's embarrassing ! For 5000sc (10k double sc) is near £50 which for pixel horses and tack (which will be out dated by the next horse release) is sickening
Also, not related to the "Black Friday Update" (it was barely a BF update if you consider that double starcoins are not special, the items discounted are close to trash, etc) but WHY IN THE FLIM FLAM FLYING FECK are old gen1 and gen2 horses still full price??? I don't care anymore if they don't have an updated version yet or not but it should be downright ILLEGAL for SSO to charge 900+sc for a chunky abomination of a mustang (just to name the first breed to come to mind) when I can get the gorgeous Belgian Warmblood for LESS??? The moment the game graduated to gen3 horses (the Connemaras), all prior breeds should have been discounted a bit, and then discounted WAY MORE when they're heavily updated versions came out. And I think some of the gen1 and gen2 horse breeds that have had gen3 updates still haven't seen reduced prices so that's another tragedy upon tragedy, lmao
I haven't spent any SC's for about 2 years until the Black Friday sale with the double SC's happened. I bought the W12 Icelandic pony. The buckskin with the white underbelly. The clothing's not all bad looking, but it's still all VERY expensive and some what not worth touching, unless you're desperate for better clothing. Also, a lot of the clothing in the shop can't be used by the lower leveled free-2-play people because of the level gaps with almost every item and reputation if it calls for it. I think that SSO was trying to maybe bottleneck the newer players into maybe getting a membership or something? I didn't realize this before cuz I'm a higher lvl player (who's been around for ages) in the game with pretty much all my reputation finished. But, a fellow by the name of *@Yula568* mentioned that newer players can't even buy the Icelandic's because you require more reputation with New Hillcrest. It's a not so funny joke for the newer players. SSO still feels like a greedy leech, even during their Black Friday sales week. But I will admit that for the 1st time in a while, I'm actually going to be getting a bit excited about the Christmas update. I just hope they don't drag it out like last time.
Bruh I was so confused when I saw the mustang there, also for the same price as other, polished gen 2 horses, like they could at least make them cheaper... It's not a terrible update and arabians are on a really good price but still more impressive as a business decision than a good contribution to the game. If everyone spends their star coins now they won't be able to save up for new (amazing btw) christmas horses which will force them to buy sc again :)
I totally agree about the Friesian, it's just nowhere near up to the standard of the other horses that were released around the same time... though I seem to remember hearing that whoever animated that was no longer working at Star Stable. I could be wrong. I hope things turn a corner for the game, I'm cautiously optimistic with the recent updates, although I am a little concerned about what's happening with the original lore and the reviews so far I've seen about the character update. Love the snow though!
Sigh... I'm just so dissapointed in this company. To treat your community, the people GIVING YOU THE MONEY like we're just wallets is fucking idiotic. If you lower your prices, more people are more likely to buy them which means you'd get more revenue overtime than you would with people buying Star Coins, let's say once a month or once every year. I love Star Stable, but the people in charge of this game is fucking sad. To raise your price this much yet rarely give your community anything to do in the game? Big Yikes. Once people realize that the money spent in this game is no longer worth it, the people giving the money is going to leave. This isn't some small company that needs more help money wise, it's a HUGE Multi-Million Dollar company. I understand you have to pay workers and for the computers, etc that you need to use for said game, but there is still no excuse for a Multi-Million Dollar company to be raising ONLY 5K Star Coins to bascially $20 away from $100. It's Greedy and Selfsih, and although they got better at listening to the community from the past, it feels like it's going backwords. I'm kidna done with this game, and I have slowly been moving farther away from it.
I love Star Stable, honestly it’s an amazing game, but I just cannot progress with it. I don’t have star rider and I can’t go anywhere because of all the side quests are unreachable. And that’s literally what the game is, a pay to win game.

This is just sad. Star stable is so money hungry!! I wish they would just stop shoving horses down players throats and get more teams to work on main story quests. Improve and fix the game in general. So sad that players are leaving the game because they can't afford to continue playing. The tack and horse prices are just terrible. So, something else I though worth mentioning is, Star Stable is a sweetish company. So, they use euros, euros are worth more then the American dollar so it would make sense that we would have a higher price. Although, star stable makes a crap ton of money anyways and based on all the money they’re making, the difference in the dollar shouldn’t be so drastic as to practically double the price for Americans or anyone using the US currency. I’ve also been doing ALOT of research on star stable, their game play, game mechanics, etc… Some people may think I’m just staying a conspiracy theory, if you do, whatever, your choice. Anyways, there’s been some evidence that star stable is using computer power to mine for money (in code), (it’s difficult to explain in deep detail). This would explain why your computer is burning hot and the fan turns on when it seems you’ve only been playing for around like, five minutes. The mining uses computer energy and power so when you log on, they immediately start mining (in code) in your computer. It’s another way for them to gain money. Some of you may have been there for the GameGuard update. GameGuard was supposed to protect against viruses and bugs in the game and frankly, it seems like they rolled back the GameGuard system due to the fact that GameGuard was protecting the game (and our computers, laptops, etc…) from getting mined (in code). I noticed when they were using the GameGuard system, the fan on my computer would turn on much later then usual and it wouldn’t be burning up in the first ten minutes. Pointing towards the theory that GameGuard was intact keeping them from mining. Anyways, that’s my assumption based on the data I’ve gathered and researched. The Black Friday sale irritates me so much cus it didn’t affect the Jorvik shilling prices it only lowers the star coins prices. So like it’s not like they changed much, and yeah I get inflation is a thing but I remember before inflation I had to pay close to $40 for a horse and it’s not like the horses are anything special there just skins lol. Even EA doesn’t dare to charge $40 for one skin at least not today.
The prices have always been too high from the start. Especially considering the age group that generally plays the game. It's not so bad once you have the lifetime membership and you save the free weekly coins to purchase a horse but when you spend actual money on a horse that they won't update for free after changing the model 3 times and then making all new tack obsolete for your old model it is a rip off. If they were truly a fair company they would offer for old purchases to be either updated for free or let you sell that old model for at least half the star coins back so you can purchase the updated model. Some say they won't give the option because "some" people want to keep the old one. I'd argue that those people are few and far between. Some of the old models look extremely bad and out of place in the updated Star Stable world. Even if they didn't look bad new tack doesn't work and they aren't going to win any race against a newer model because the animations are vastly different which does effect speed. So what someone ends up having is a stable full of unused horses. It's not right.

I do hope eventually sso will understand where players are coming from and idk just put more effort in gameplay. I've been following the SSO drama for years. Same as The Sims franchise. It's astounding how brainwashed people can become. SSO likes to price itself as a triple A game, when they can't even compare themselves to Alicia Online - A FREE racing game with better graphics and horse models. AO might be just racing with nothing else, but the movement and mechanics for the horses and how they race is mind blowing ngl. It's so so so hard for games to get horses right. The only games that have achieved close to perfect are AO and RDR.
I’m so glad I’m not the only who compares the two! Literally before I started watching this, I was watching satch on sims review of some sim packs; literally both companies are identical. Both companies are just a corrupt corporations that are just trying to make a quick buck. I will say though, EA is slowly, VERY slowly, getting better. After all they did make the base game free, but that is just one tiny tiny improvement.

The Sims comparison is so true. Money hungry owners who make the base game free (currently) but to enjoy the experience, you have to buy a hundred dollars worth of packs, and you still get bored of it.

I think dropping the price on the Icelandic was nice because it IS popular, but it would have been cool if they’d dropped the level accordingly. My second account is level 7 and could not get most of the costs. Meanwhile, I have them all on my level 20 account. The DSC was not a deal. The tack and gear were so high I was disgusted. It wasn’t worth it. And they’re not even nice sets for the most part. They are almost all dark and dingy and it was a serious letdown. My only remaining compliment is that the halters you get using BLACKFRIDAY2022 were cute.
i just wish they would use the *MILLIONS* they make yearly to actually improve!! Newer computers, younger people with fresh ideas, revamp this crusty company and actually IMPROVE. But what do they do? Wallow in money, raise prices of starcoins, and refuse to listen to the community trying to help them. At this point, what can be done? I’m tempted to cut my losses and quit. I started star stables when I was in elementary and I begged my mom to get me the life time star rider, and one time I went on to play and my life time star rider was gone and the next month- I couldn't login into my account- so I quit- plus the game is hungry for money
When i did the pay once star rider a couple of years ago it was discounted for like $74.99 before tax so i could imagine it would be like 80 or 90 right now. Us citizen btw. This inflation is really making me consider leaving the game not to mention how they keep releasing horses instead of fixing the games mechanics. They have enough horses and make enough money from that.

My opinion: Just as they made *gen 2 caracter* they said that they are going to work on new caracter again, and at that moment they went downhill. Now that the lounched beta and almost finished *gen 3 caracter* they started to make more quests and that stuff. As someone with limited income, there is no way on gods green earth I am forking up like $20 dollars for a singular HORSE, the microtransactions in this game are SO predatory it's ridiculous! Even if I was a child it was hard enough asking my parents for $5 subscriptions to a video game once a month, let alone just outta no where "grandma can I have $20 to buy this new horse that came out in video game?" LOOOL. If they are struggling with making money then I can see why! Here in Australia to get the 1000 And its double star coins is cost us $70 Sometimes $80 it depends on the currency that's a lot of money. I understand that there's some countries that is so cheap you like wow that's 2 asses only like $30 but it's different currency and it's really kinda sucks. It's very unfair that some countries have to pay more money for the star coins than any here others that only paid pretty much really nothing especially for a membership in Australia for star stables is like a 100 and something That's a lifetime membership.
Definitely agree that the prices are unreasonable, especially when you don't buy them at double SC time. I think it's also unreasonable that the only time prices get even close to semi-reasonable is at a PROMOTION, and even then, you have to buy the biggest package. Even then, that's still like $6 for a pixel horse (Australian dollars). I think it's a bit hard to compare Star Stable to RDR2 because RDR2 is made by Rockstar which has a lot of game development infrastructure in place, has the capital to invest, is going to get better deals on costs (due to economies of scale) and most importantly, as a big title, it has greater reach. And Rockstar has many major, big selling titles. Star Stable has gradually grown from what started out as a tiny team. The plus side is that Star Stable evidently invests a lot back into the game and is constantly growing rather than just sitting back and going "well, how many other horse mmorpgs are there? Our players are still going to pay even if we don't do much". Of course the smarter longer term decision is to go "let's improve the game and get MORE players, there's evidently people who want a good horse game". (And honestly I wouldn't have started playing if the quality was still 2016 - the goofy starter horses put me off too much until the Connemara came out). But there are literally so many MMORPGs that take this approach and have been doing so for years. They just milk one game, make another, milk that game, and so on. But the ridiculous prices still aren't justifiable. This isn't even a completely free to play MMORPG. And I also think it's ridiculous that there is literally no other way to get horses (except the Rune Runner and that ONE horse you got for free on the 10th anniversary). Star Stable does care about what its players think, but that's in order to improve the game - for ultimately the bottom line, although I do get the feeling that the people who work on it also get enjoyment out of creating things. Who doesn't feel good when you create something and people love it? I am motivated to do my best as a receptionist in the medical field because it makes me feel really good when someone says "you've made my day, thank you for being so nice and patient" "I've been so sick lately but seeing you makes me feel better" etc. Knowing that you've done your bit to make someone else happier. Most people care about more than money, and money is usually a means to an end for something else. But it is required for the game to remain functional, viable, and improve, and that is ultimately what drives the progression of it. BUT the prices are still totally unjustifiable.
And IMO the Black Friday sale was unethical. It was ALL older items, and placed in Moorland - a place frequented by newer players who might not be aware of the drastic difference in the quality of horses and items depending on when they were made. I understand if they want to keep the older items available for people who do want them, but FFS, don't PUSH them in promotions. And they even had a gen 2 mustang. Since the gen 3 horses came out, I wonder many players bought an older horse without realising how bad they are? I'm sure more than a few. I think that's probably the reason that they keep them out for so long. Now don't get me wrong, I love this game and I think they do a lot of things right. But the SC prices and some of the sales behaviour is just unethical.
When I first started playing I would always say stuff like "I wonder if I will still be playing Star Stable when I'm older" but I highly doubt SSO will still exist in 10 years sadly.
I have to say the "Black Friday" in the game is a good idea. But honest the stuff there giving us is complete cramp, the only they I liked was the new saddle bag. The Arabians, Jorvik Warmblood horses (like just why on earth did they choose that horse, when there are a lot of better horses they had put in the game and Icelandic Horses are good, but yah where are the new coats, the mustangs are fine (can't wait to sso updates them). The clothes were absolutely terrible and horrible their old clothes with poor stats. They could have done so much better for the stuff they gave us. Also where you go to buy the new Icelandic Horse. They have separated the new coat colors from the brand new coat colors. You have to now click on them separately now.

It's kinda gets very boring when you Ve got no quests and and people cause so much trouble with groups their clubs. Okay but on a serious note, I did comment on their Instagram telling them WHY exactly their double star coins offer that they do on a monthly basis was NOT an exclusive Black Friday sale. I also told them what they could have done to fix it for the next time they did this. Like lowering the price by 10% for that weekend, back to the original price, or maybe even a 20% discount on the 10k SC ONLY deal, to encourage people to buy that offer instead.. But legit as I was scrolling through the comments we had people making fun of each other for "being poor and not being able to afford sc", and sending death threats to the team despite the fact that the people who manage their social media have no say in what offers are put out regardless of how we feel lmao.
I'm honestly baffled, its terrible to see the community attacking the team AND each other at the same time, and while a lot of us don't like what SSO did, theres no reason to take it this seriously. Just say what you think about it, tell them how they can improve, and move on.
This is just why I openly choose not to interact with most of the fanbase of pretty much all of the things I love.

It would be good if Star Stable didn't ignore everyone's criticism about the prices. I mean most of their audience are children, how are they expected to pay that much without stealing their parents' credit card?
Well, saving pocket money, wish money for christmas or birthdays. I think kids should learn that they can't have everything right now if they want it. It's a good lesson, especially now, since everything gets more expensive. It's important for them to learn to budget and prioritize where they spent their money. Is it a cheap toy every week, or save it longer for star coin or a new gaming system? It's their choice. Desicions have consequences, if you buy something expensive you have to wait again fore some time to be able to spent money in something expensive again. It's how I grew up. And plase, don't steal any credit card. It will be discovered and you probably won't be allowed to play SSO for a long time. You can maybe look for a summer job instead.

But yeah, something is wrong in the system, the gap between poor and rich is getting wider. But unfortunatley only the politicans can change something, or charities can help out. But that is another topic. The world is not fair. But to blame SSO won't help it. Inflation is also there in Sweden, currently 7% I think, so they have higher costs as well. I guess I already sound like a granny. Kids these days... You know.

In my country, parents get a certain ammount for childeren each month. Every parent. If the ammount is enough, is a different question, with the crisis now. there is a different programm paying for an affordable appartment, if the money is not enough, and if you have no job, you can collect unemployment (arguable not enough in inflation) and medical expenses with reason are covered as well. I see that not every contry has that safety in place if you fall on hard times.But honestly, no child should go hungry. And no paren't either. You can even find the old Star Stable games. They might have not the best graphics, but maybe can make some people happy that can't afford SSO. I think the weirdest thing about sso is how they started a lot of projects in the game but... forgot about them? Like what's with the forest trees around silversong river? Or dinovalley in general? They started updating the old areas and then just... forgot it and stopped. Everything that made the game has stopped and the game is entirely a different one now, reason why I stopped playing a year ago. It's an empty horse training/racing game. And that is not a game I started playing. Edit: also I think all the recoding and updating graphics is just a waste of time and money for the company. At this point they would save so much time and possibly money by just remaking the game

Originally, I bought the lifetime account (it was 72 bucks at the time). I had a whole entire discord server that was dedicated to my sso club, and that I've had some fantastic experiences with. Even so, I had to leave this game behind because of the problem with the prices and just generally misleading customer service.
I've been here since around 2015, and its so stupid how the creators are being so blind to the actual community. Like not aging the game with the audience for example (I know its technically a kids game, but since its been around for so long the original audience has grown now). This is my childhood game too, and was also one of the last things my dad and I shared and laughed about together. So I want this game to grow and better itself.
I appreciate you making this video, even if people hate it, because sometimes people need to think about WHY someone feels angry, instead of just immediately getting defensive about a game they love.

I agree with you completely it’s just sad how they don’t pay attention to any of there players. I understand the whole money and wanting it, but lower the prices, of a lot of things. I do agree the graphics are getting so much better. But I feel there was no point on doing the Black Friday update if they weren’t going to lower the prices like A LOT. I was a little bit disappointed when they came out with double star coins and there was no discount on them with it being black friday.
You can always count on Dennis to say what no one else will, and honestly I think the SSO community is specifically looking for drama or things to complain about because they have nothing better to do with their day.
But the community will speak about and has been, but there certain player that will shut any kind of criticism down, not matter is it’s valid or not. They turn the people that actually care into haters… We have been complaining for years and it keeps going on. We shouldn’t act like no one is saying something.

Yeah... Even more so, its not much of a discount if its lowered a little, they need to do better if they're gonna start following these types of events for quick cash grabs.
Honestly what makes me even more angry are the social media influencers and RUclipsrs praising SSO for every little thing they release and defending them for everything. Obviously a company that just wants money is going to deny any wrongdoing…but there are so many RUclipsrs and popular players encouraging sso and telling them how amazing everything is!
I will say, I loved the quest we just had to do (granted I was 3 “instances” behind so I spent an evening doing it) but it felt like an actually meaningful, forward moving quest FINALLY and the upcoming winter update looks amazing with beautiful magical horses.
I also encountered a glitch with the Star Coin discount between the app & desktop. Overall I think they could’ve done better & made WAYYYY more money with this update. But, I prefer they pay attention to main story quests, the map, and making the winter even worthwhile 🙂

kinda wierd that sso put a black friday sale a few weeks before the christmas update, ( with 2 new horses mind you ) like they want you to buy a horse, then to realise that you dont have anymore star coins for the limited time horses that come with the christmas update, meaning you most likely wil buy star coins.
That’s almost exactly what happened to me 🤧 I had forgotten the TWH were coming out, so I bought an Arabian bc they were cheaper, so now I can only afford to buy one horse and not 2 like I had planned (the TWH and Icelandic Special Horse). Pretty smart on their part, but frustrating nonetheless.

I’m glad to hear you say that sso and rdr2 can’t be compared regarding price. Because sso, as an mmorpg, SHOULD be more expensive than rdr2. Because mmorpgs are more expensive than triple A games. The team behind rdr2 worked under a contract lasting x amount of years, until they achieved a final product, and then they’re done at Rockstar and they don’t get paid anymore.they have a final product of which they can put a price-tag on, and estimate beforehand how many copies they have to sell to break even - and then some. The team behind Star Stable will, as an mmorpg, technically never have a final product. Star Stable is CHEAP (what??) compared to other mmorpgs in the form of offering a Life Time membership, giving you the opportunity of not being tied to a subscription service. I’m amazed by the fact that they still offer this, and there’s a reason why other mmorpgs don’t do this: Because they won’t earn enough money from it. And Star Stable needs paying customers, constantly, to maintain servers and update the game with new content. Maybe Star Coins would be cheaper if they stopped offering Life Time, but I’d rather pay more for sc once or twice a year than having to pour money in to the game every month to be able to play it.
You could argue that RDO, with its online functions, also has a server that needs to be maintained. But the argue falls dead on the fact that Rockstar for one is a huge company who has better income elsewhere, and secondly that rdo is, in fact, dead.
Another significant factor is the lack of competition for sso. But I’m hoping that’s about to change.
TOTALLY support the opinions about their Black friday deal being shit though. The people who can’t afford star coins on a normal day was left disappointed yet again…
… To put things in to perspective: My boyfriend has played World of Warcraft for 10 years. There’s no option for a «lifetime subscription» in WoW, so to spare some pennies he pays for 6 months at a time. That’s $155 for one year. Over ten years that equals $1550. On top of this there’s other micro-transactions for in-game currencies. He’s probably spent well above $2000 on WoW, and if he wants to keep playing the game for ten more years… Well then double it.
This comparison isn’t totally fair, because WoW has a much bigger player base (+ they’re older in average)and the game in general is much bigger. But it’s a more fair conparison than any triple A game out there.
So happy to see that Star Stable is getting better after these past 2 years. Finally some Quests instead of just new races and horses.
If they were actually trying to make a good Black Friday deal that players enjoyed rather than a quick scheme posing as a BF Deal, they would have either:
1. Discounted current and popular items (especially updated tack and clothes, not those crunchy looking saddles, shirts, etc)
2. Offered some sort of shop/seller that allows you to pick any horse in the game (that's still in the game) and you get ONE horse for 50% off. Then the rest, if they wanted, could be restricted based on breeds.
3. Offered HEAVY discounts on SC or SR that we would ACTUALLY never see except on Black Friday. Double starcoins deals are not special anymore when they come out at least once per month... What about a TRIPLE starcoin deal? A 'get a horse of your choosing for free with certain bundles' deal??
Even though the sc prices are very high, it is dope that they have double sc weekends and a lot of offers that if you buy the ig bulk pachages of 1000 sc and up, they often have offers where you get tack, clothing or pets.
And I think compared to other games where you can buy in-game stuff which is cheaper than the expensive sc, those games belong to a bigger compagny that develops more games and also earns money from merchandising a lot, like EA games and Rockstar Games who have 2 major, bown up games with multiple versions (RDR and GTA). I also wonder if those 1600 people worked on that game all at once, and maybe among those 1600 people there were also PR workers, doing PR for other games at the same time aswell. That is a lot of speculationg, but if this is the case it makes sense why RDR can make their buyable stuff cheaper. compared to SSO, owned by Star stable Entertainment AB, who also have multiple games, but only 2 are online and still being developed (The apps and SSO) Sweden is expensive as hell (at least to other europeans) so they have to earn a lot of money to pay their employees a normal salary and they barely earn from merchandise.

It's honestly SO ridiculous that a single horse costs a minimum of $30, which once you get it to level 15 there is really not much more progress you can do with it in game. Meanwhile other AA gaming companies such as Fortnite, Apex, Overwatch, etc, charge only $10-$20 for a skin that is highly animated. You can also a buy a battle pass for less than that and get other limited skins. SSO treats the community as if we're stupid and will continue giving them money no matter what just because it is "the only horse MMO". It's extremely predatory and corrupt when you consider that SSO is a game designed to cater toward CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS. So they're basically trying to rip off parents money. They could have done 20% off ALL horses in game, but they probably never will due to their greed.

Also, not related to the "Black Friday Update" (it was barely a BF update if you consider that double starcoins are not special, the items discounted are close to trash, etc) but WHY IN THE FLIM FLAM FLYING FECK are old gen1 and gen2 horses still full price??? I don't care anymore if they don't have an updated version yet or not but it should be downright ILLEGAL for SSO to charge 900+sc for a chunky abomination of a mustang (just to name the first breed to come to mind) when I can get the gorgeous Belgian Warmblood for LESS??? The moment the game graduated to gen3 horses (the Connemaras), all prior breeds should have been discounted a bit, and then discounted WAY MORE when they're heavily updated versions came out. And I think some of the gen1 and gen2 horse breeds that have had gen3 updates still haven't seen reduced prices so that's another tragedy upon tragedy, lmao

I haven't spent any SC's for about 2 years until the Black Friday sale with the double SC's happened. I bought the W12 Icelandic pony. The buckskin with the white underbelly. The clothing's not all bad looking, but it's still all VERY expensive and some what not worth touching, unless you're desperate for better clothing. Also, a lot of the clothing in the shop can't be used by the lower leveled free-2-play people because of the level gaps with almost every item and reputation if it calls for it.
I think that SSO was trying to maybe bottleneck the newer players into maybe getting a membership or something?
I didn't realize this before cuz I'm a higher lvl player (who's been around for ages) in the game with pretty much all my reputation finished. But, a fellow by the name of *@Yula568* mentioned that newer players can't even buy the Icelandic's because you require more reputation with New Hillcrest. It's a not so funny joke for the newer players.
SSO still feels like a greedy leech, even during their Black Friday sales week. But I will admit that for the 1st time in a while, I'm actually going to be getting a bit excited about the Christmas update. I just hope they don't drag it out like last time.

It's not a terrible update and arabians are on a really good price but still more impressive as a business decision than a good contribution to the game. If everyone spends their star coins now they won't be able to save up for new (amazing btw) christmas horses which will force them to buy sc again :)
I totally agree about the Friesian, it's just nowhere near up to the standard of the other horses that were released around the same time... though I seem to remember hearing that whoever animated that was no longer working at Star Stable. I could be wrong. I hope things turn a corner for the game, I'm cautiously optimistic with the recent updates, although I am a little concerned about what's happening with the original lore and the reviews so far I've seen about the character update. Love the snow though!

Sigh... I'm just so dissapointed in this company. To treat your community, the people GIVING YOU THE MONEY like we're just wallets is fucking idiotic. If you lower your prices, more people are more likely to buy them which means you'd get more revenue overtime than you would with people buying Star Coins, let's say once a month or once every year. I love Star Stable, but the people in charge of this game is fucking sad. To raise your price this much yet rarely give your community anything to do in the game? Big Yikes. Once people realize that the money spent in this game is no longer worth it, the people giving the money is going to leave. This isn't some small company that needs more help money wise, it's a HUGE Multi-Million Dollar company. I understand you have to pay workers and for the computers, etc that you need to use for said game, but there is still no excuse for a Multi-Million Dollar company to be raising ONLY 5K Star Coins to bascially $20 away from $100. It's Greedy and Selfsih, and although they got better at listening to the community from the past, it feels like it's going backwords. So, something else I though worth mentioning is, Star Stable is a sweetish company. So, they use euros, euros are worth more then the American dollar so it would make sense that we would have a higher price. Although, star stable makes a crap ton of money anyways and based on all the money they’re making, the difference in the dollar shouldn’t be so drastic as to practically double the price for Americans or anyone using the US currency.
I’ve also been doing ALOT of research on star stable, their game play, game mechanics, etc… Some people may think I’m just staying a conspiracy theory, if you do, whatever, your choice. Anyways, there’s been some evidence that star stable is using computer power to mine for money (in code), (it’s difficult to explain in deep detail). This would explain why your computer is burning hot and the fan turns on when it seems you’ve only been playing for around like, five minutes. The mining uses computer energy and power so when you log on, they immediately start mining (in code) in your computer. It’s another way for them to gain money.
Some of you may have been there for the GameGuard update. GameGuard was supposed to protect against viruses and bugs in the game and frankly, it seems like they rolled back the GameGuard system due to the fact that GameGuard was protecting the game (and our computers, laptops, etc…) from getting mined (in code). I noticed when they were using the GameGuard system, the fan on my computer would turn on much later then usual and it wouldn’t be burning up in the first ten minutes. Pointing towards the theory that GameGuard was intact keeping them from mining.
Anyways, that’s my assumption based on the data I’ve gathered and researched. Take it or leave it, your choice, either way, have a nice day! ❤️❤️

The Black Friday sale irritates me so much cus it didn’t affect the Jorvik shilling prices it only lowers the star coins prices.
So like it’s not like they changed much, and yeah I get inflation is a thing but I remember before inflation I had to pay close to $40 for a horse and it’s not like the horses are anything special there just skins lol. Even EA doesn’t dare to charge $40 for one skin at least not today.
The prices have always been too high from the start. Especially considering the age group that generally plays the game. It's not so bad once you have the lifetime membership and you save the free weekly coins to purchase a horse but when you spend actual money on a horse that they won't update for free after changing the model 3 times and then making all new tack obsolete for your old model it is a rip off. If they were truly a fair company they would offer for old purchases to be either updated for free or let you sell that old model for at least half the star coins back so you can purchase the updated model. Some say they won't give the option because "some" people want to keep the old one. I'd argue that those people are few and far between. Some of the old models look extremely bad and out of place in the updated Star Stable world. Even if they didn't look bad new tack doesn't work and they aren't going to win any race against a newer model because the animations are vastly different which does effect speed. So what someone ends up having is a stable full of unused horses. It's not right.

I do hope eventually sso will understand where players are coming from and idk just put more effort in gameplay. I've been following the SSO drama for years. Same as The Sims franchise. It's astounding how brainwashed people can become. SSO likes to price itself as a triple A game, when they can't even compare themselves to Alicia Online - A FREE racing game with better graphics and horse models. AO might be just racing with nothing else, but the movement and mechanics for the horses and how they race is mind blowing ngl. It's so so so hard for games to get horses right. The only games that have achieved close to perfect are AO and RDR.
I’m so glad I’m not the only who compares the two! Literally before I started watching this, I was watching satch on sims review of some sim packs; literally both companies are identical. Both companies are just a corrupt corporations that are just trying to make a quick buck. I will say though, EA is slowly, VERY slowly, getting better. After all they did make the base game free, but that is just one tiny tiny improvement.

I think dropping the price on the Icelandic was nice because it IS popular, but it would have been cool if they’d dropped the level accordingly. My second account is level 7 and could not get most of the costs. Meanwhile, I have them all on my level 20 account.
The DSC was not a deal.
The tack and gear were so high I was disgusted. It wasn’t worth it. And they’re not even nice sets for the most part. They are almost all dark and dingy and it was a serious letdown.
My only remaining compliment is that the halters you get using BLACKFRIDAY2022 were cute.
i just wish they would use the *MILLIONS* they make yearly to actually improve!! Newer computers, younger people with fresh ideas, revamp this crusty company and actually IMPROVE. I started star stables when I was in elementary and I begged my mom to get me the life time star rider, and one time I went on to play and my life time star rider was gone and the next month- I couldn't login into my account- so I quit- plus the game is hungry for money
When i did the pay once star rider a couple of years ago it was discounted for like $74.99 before tax so i could imagine it would be like 80 or 90 right now. Us citizen btw. This inflation is really making me consider leaving the game not to mention how they keep releasing horses instead of fixing the games mechanics. Now that the lounched beta and almost finished *gen 3 caracter* they started to make more quests and that stuff. Definitely agree that the prices are unreasonable, especially when you don't buy them at double SC time. I think it's also unreasonable that the only time prices get even close to semi-reasonable is at a PROMOTION, and even then, you have to buy the biggest package. Even then, that's still like $6 for a pixel horse (Australian dollars).
I think it's a bit hard to compare Star Stable to RDR2 because RDR2 is made by Rockstar which has a lot of game development infrastructure in place, has the capital to invest, is going to get better deals on costs (due to economies of scale) and most importantly, as a big title, it has greater reach. And Rockstar has many major, big selling titles. Star Stable has gradually grown from what started out as a tiny team.
The plus side is that Star Stable evidently invests a lot back into the game and is constantly growing rather than just sitting back and going "well, how many other horse mmorpgs are there? Our players are still going to pay even if we don't do much". Of course the smarter longer term decision is to go "let's improve the game and get MORE players, there's evidently people who want a good horse game". (And honestly I wouldn't have started playing if the quality was still 2016 - the goofy starter horses put me off too much until the Connemara came out). But there are literally so many MMORPGs that take this approach and have been doing so for years. They just milk one game, make another, milk that game, and so on.
But the ridiculous prices still aren't justifiable. This isn't even a completely free to play MMORPG. And I also think it's ridiculous that there is literally no other way to get horses (except the Rune Runner and that ONE horse you got for free on the 10th anniversary).
Star Stable does care about what its players think, but that's in order to improve the game - for ultimately the bottom line, although I do get the feeling that the people who work on it also get enjoyment out of creating things. Who doesn't feel good when you create something and people love it? I am motivated to do my best as a receptionist in the medical field because it makes me feel really good when someone says "you've made my day, thank you for being so nice and patient" "I've been so sick lately but seeing you makes me feel better" etc. Knowing that you've done your bit to make someone else happier. Most people care about more than money, and money is usually a means to an end for something else. But it is required for the game to remain functional, viable, and improve, and that is ultimately what drives the progression of it.
BUT the prices are still totally unjustifiable.
And IMO the Black Friday sale was unethical. It was ALL older items, and placed in Moorland - a place frequented by newer players who might not be aware of the drastic difference in the quality of horses and items depending on when they were made. I understand if they want to keep the older items available for people who do want them, but FFS, don't PUSH them in promotions.
And they even had a gen 2 mustang. Since the gen 3 horses came out, I wonder many players bought an older horse without realising how bad they are? I'm sure more than a few. I think that's probably the reason that they keep them out for so long.
Now don't get me wrong, I love this game and I think they do a lot of things right. But the SC prices and some of the sales behaviour is just unethical.
When I first started playing I would always say stuff like "I wonder if I will still be playing Star Stable when I'm older" but I highly doubt SSO will still exist in 10 years sadly.
I have to say the "Black Friday" in the game is a good idea. But honest the stuff there giving us is complete cramp, the only they I liked was the new saddle bag. The Arabians, Jorvik Warmblood horses (like just why on earth did they choose that horse, when there are a lot of better horses they had put in the game and Icelandic Horses are good, but yah where are the new coats, the mustangs are fine (can't wait to sso updates them). The clothes were absolutely terrible and horrible their old clothes with poor stats. They could have done so much better for the stuff they gave us. Also where you go to buy the new Icelandic Horse. They have separated the new coat colors from the brand new coat colors. You have to now click on them separately now.
