Play claw machine, play adventures, buy membership, sit on Forgotten Desert all day, try to learn the new economy. This is the one game that still brings me just as much joy now as it did when I was a kid and I think that's really special
I recently had this same nostalgic desire to re-visit animal jam and I was SO surprised to see a community as active as ever, many of which were players like me who played the game as kids and now enjoy it as a hobby in their free time. Seeing videos like this is so sweet- it's crazy how surprisingly universal this feeling is.
YOOO ANIMAL JAM!!!! Literally took over my life since age 9 to 14. Id wake up at 1 pm and play AJ all day till 1 am. The trading system now is almost completely different then it was back then. Ever since they got rid of spiked collars from being in adventures, it made it almost impossible to get spikes. When spiked collars were still in adventures I remember I got 3 black longs from forgotten desert and about 6 from lucky clovers. On average back then it was 7 den betas for a orange long, 10 for a yellow long, 14-5 for a green, 16 for a pink long, 20 for purple, 20 for blue ( some people accepted 18), 20 for red and like 40 or something like that for black, I have all the old worths of items in grained in my brain and they’ll probably be there forever LMAO. My best items I got in those 5 years of grinding were a light pink hd, magenta hd, dark pink hd, and all the beta tail armors ( THEY WERE MY FAVS). I don’t even know if those are still considered rares today. THIS VIDEO LOWKEY MAKES ME WANNA START PLAYING AGAIN
I lost my account during the data breach thing, I didnt even played animal jam at the time but I had a long black spike that I worked so hard to get when I was younger. I felt bad because it somehow hurted my inner child, even if it's just a game a part of my story is there, and I still had the dream to get the headdress. Oh those were good times, I miss my friend who I don't talk to since 2018.

yeah, i love aj sm and it was my childhood game. i totally agree with u but one thing that’s really changed since i was last on is that no one does anything outside of trading anymore :(( no one hosts roleplays, fashion shows, people just trade or adventure. im hoping to get a membership and host some amazing roleplays and parties :)))
Last time I played AJ was 7 years ago, I remember me and my friends would stay up all night in TFD just trying to get a spike collar. This was me and my friends favorite game at the time. I've seen some AJ videos appear on my feed out of no where recently and it's really been making me want to start play it again, but even if I do I know it won't be the the same. I'm just glad I was able to experience it and have fun in the moment, all those years ago, and keep the memories I made.
Just a heads up, disable your account when you log off via the parent app and make sure you have 2FA on. Always reading about people getting hacked on this game and it's because they don't have 2fa or they don't disable their accounts when they log off and make sure you have two different passwords, one for game and one for parent app.
since animal jam removed spiked collars from advetures, the only way really to get actually rare items likes headresses, glossies, stuff like that, is by buying them for real money unless you just have infinite time, it's kinda sad, but we cant change it unfortunetly.

Starting play Animal Jam in summer school in 2014 I believe. Turning 25 this year so I probably stopped playing it around 2016 or 2017. The only thing I really enjoyed about it was collecting betas, spikes and that sort of stuff. I have a tan headdress, every color of long spike, every den beta, clothing beta.. Original Elf Tail Armors, etc. I think the fun of it as an adult is gone because it's very obviously a lot of children playing and I just feel kind of awkward and out of place being surrounded by people who are my age when I started playing. With a game like Club Penguin though, there's not really many children playing on the private servers anymore since the game is so old and mostly remembered by people my age. Also every time I log in to see how the game is doing I get people begging me to trade them my betas, headdress, spikes, etc.
Playing animal jam classic with your partner truly makes the game 20× more fun, I grew up playing aj with mine and we just always find things to do and outfits to make, If you ever want to do more adventures I'm always on love try have friends to do adventures with I'm Thyl :3

So everyone is farming plushies cause they're broke huh? Playing those mini games is so fun idk what it is about them but I can completely play for hours on AJ, play the claw machine or the Phantom Invasion arcade game, trade the toys or plushies, trade, decorate my den, etc. I think I'm having as much fun then I did when I was a kid. Unfortunately I had to re do everything because I lost my account from when I was 11 (I'm turning 19 this year 😭) but I'm 100% more rich and have more items than I did from 2017-2021 ever. But i regret some stuff, I had items and pets that are no longer available now and I can't enter my old den!! So much memories 😭 but I'm happy to see the (american) AJ community thriving, it's so fun to trade. But collecting and eveything I want being SO DAMN EXPENSIVE is kind of irratating but I can understand, I think that under a year (I've started playing again about a month ago) I can clear everything I want to do.
Haha I also SUCK at the dunk a phantom game. I logged into my old AJ account a couple months back - I had preexisting super high scores on all the fair games EXCEPT dunk a phantom. I think my score was something like 75. I spent like 30 minutes playing it though and I've mildly got the hang of it now. It's still stupidly hard for no reason!

I used to be super into rps and playing for hours with friends, but it seems these days everyone just trades, buys and grinds. the aj economy is INTENSE. i think shops have contributed a lot. Im honestly not a big fan of them, more buying than trading nowadays.
I finally got a gold bunny playset this holiday in dec 2024 on my new aj acc, the month before this coming new year, thanks to my parents this holiday so now I got a goldbunny buddy, the successor of the one I gave away at 2017. What a way to come back to animal jam, near the new years! May 2025 mark a comeback for me and everyone else!
