This game had so many IDEAS! It's a shame that a lot of the mini-bosses and characters that this game is lush with die so easily. The setting and feel of this game was just so unique and wonderful.
That was the best part about it. Every level was brimming with crazy ideas, and all of them worked so well. It really felt like a fully realized world rather than a bunch of levels.
@IgaKoga i said the most influential in ideas to the future. across the videogame history beyond the arcade format, into pc and console platforms until now. every hack and slash until Sekiro, every action/adventure/platform game or the metroidvania genre, american/european pseudo RPG games explored things that appeared first here and ninja gaiden. the soul reaver from the eighties. obviously in 1992 SF2 was a massive cultural impact everywhere to the generation x and early millenials. helped to raise the consoles industry in the Nintendo-Sega war. then came mortal kombat, tekken, killer instinct, kof...but Strider came out 3 years before than SF2.
@@imwithstupid086 This game inspired a lot of big franchises including Dark Souls, Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry and God of War. Learn your history kiddo.
Fantastic classic game. Really got shoved out of the way by the beat em up influx of the early 1990's. Should've had a bigger and better sequel. Brilliant tone setting, during a time the world was at it's most curious of new Russia.
Gotta admit, I never really understood why Hiryu landed on a whale at the end. I'm sure there's probably some deep symbolism to be taken away from that but I don't know what the fuck it is.
According to Tsurumi, the designer on Sega’s Spider-Man arcade game, the initial concept was a Strider like game where you could play as Spidey and Black Cat
I remember seeing this game beat by a guy when it was originally in the aracde at Westworld in Marina Del Rey CA on like to quarters. You had to be on another level back then. That joint cost 25 cents (64 cents inflation adjusted)to play and there was no home version to practice😅
Why people love this game? I personally didnt like the sega genesis one. You cant control your jumps which always leads you to get damaged by enemies, level design is awful and gameplay is wanky and too simple. I finished the game, but it was too stressful and not enjoyable at all. I had to memorize all the spots where you cant get damaged and just run through the game like that. Trust me, there are much better games on sega genesis.
@@LaR536It's because they either grew up with the game or just appreciate what it's able to do at the time. The game hasn't aged the best but it's still fun if you get used to its clunkiness.
Fun Fact: The later release of the game has the correct musics for stage 3, 5 and the stage 5 cutscene. Which are not present in the early version (the one used here).
General Mikhail: **some Russian gibberish about why this RUclips video has so many dislikes** Grandmaster Meio: Hum... those are the Striders. THEY WILL NEVER LEAVE EURASIA ALIVE! Solo: I got them.
man, oh man, did i spend way too many quarters on this arcade version prior to getting a sega genesis port. having crappily responding joysticks and buttons along with a hard difficulty setting had to make it a real moneymaker locally. I never could get past the second level on the arcade version. there was a good reason the coin acceptor door and coin box door were dented all the time. maybe we can blame those red commie trolls!
It seems many of versions of Strider repeat the Level 1 music for Level 3 (Battleship Ballog stage with the purple pirate at the end). Why is this? This video captures it: ruclips.net/video/qVOOiCFktU4/видео.htmlsi=EX1JWYgYDEYEhwfn&t=294
It's an immortal classic, a masterpiece. However it has its flaws. Almost all bosses are too easy and fast to defeat. The showdown with the bounty hunter Solo is pathetic, he is dispatched with very few hits. The fight should be longer and more difficult, dramatic. Also the final boss Meio is too weak. The mechanical panther following Strider is a very good idea but it's underused, it's almost non existent, very rare and pratically useless in the actual game
@IgaKoga - just because i can't do better, doesn't mean this one still doesn't suck about its sounds effects.. One of the GREATEST example of STYLE in a Viedogame EVER.
Just remember that this game was powered by CPS-1 which was way ahead of time visually compared to other machines

I played this game from an arcade from wal mart. it was neat but little difficult.
Also you have to remember all the games before it looked like LEGO's Blocky Adventure. Then to see this all the sudden was shocking.
This play through isn’t set on the default difficulty. It’s on easy mode.
@@worsethanhitlerpt.2539I don’t know about that, this 89' you're talking about. Prior to that, many games were generally well detailed after 1985.
fors some reason the music intro with him dropping in on the glider and that music and backdrop always hyped me up before playing this game.
The 2014 remake is currently what I'm playing. 🔥 it's backwards compatible on current-gen .
@@DonYoGi8331 yeah it's awesome! im currently playing it on my rog ally. i hope they come out with another one
Master: YOU CAN'T BEAT ME, HIR- *dies in like two hits*
Grandmaster Meio: You ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plaguis the Wise?
Strider: No... And I don't want to know.
There's a special place in hell for the person that designed the sound effects for the level 4 enemies.
After playing Double Dragon for years this was like jumping into the Delorian 🔥
Strider probably has the most OP sword in videogame history, bosses die like flies.
The best arcade game ever and maybe the most influential in ideas across the gaming history.

This game is trippy. It's the future but there are dinosaurs and prehistoric women. Ha.
Developed by Capcom in 1989 and published by Sega in 1990
On the Genesis console
Capcom was so great, it was crazy: so many genre-creating/genre-defining games.

So this is what Kazakhstan will look like in 24 years?
probably
Impressionante! Jogabilidade impecável!
Probably my favorite 80' arcade game ever alongside Ghouls And Ghosts
Ghouls & Ghost is obscenely difficult, I once spent $100 trying to beat it (400 credits, 1 quarter each). The endeavor did not proceed as intended.
@@LIONTAMER3D Strider later levels ain't no joke either. Ghouls'n'Ghosts takes the cake though since you have to beat it twice to see the end
Awesome gameplay.
Best arcade game of all time!
Street Fighter 2 variants FTW
Can I ask construction workers from Kazakhstan to build this city in the future?
Capcom were so ahead of the game. There were still games getting released in the 90's which didn't look as polished.
That centipede boss is crazy.
According to Tsurumi, the designer on Sega’s Spider-Man arcade game, the initial concept was a Strider like game where you could play as Spidey and Black Cat
Oh shit. I played this game as a toddler on my Dreamcast.
Try the 2014 remake🔥, you're welcome😎

For me of the hardest game in video game history
So, this is the game is where the designer draw inspiration from and created Chun-Li.
I would spend all day at the pizzeria playing this game. I would burn my whole allowance on it. FML
That Jay-Z laugh at the beginning 😂

Strider Longplay (Arcade) [60 FPS]
This is the first character action game.

couldn't even complete this on the Switch mega drive emulator, that last level was controller breaking stuff.
2048. 6 years after Battlefield 2042
I just scored 136,800 on the arcade
I think this and Ghouls n Ghosts share a lot of sound effects.
Nothing alike at all
Hi Al82,
Any chance to make a longplay of Brian the Lion on Amiga OCS ?
Can't find any :(
It's a very hard game, not makable without cheat I guess.
Fantastic game-playing! Just too bad you used the version that doesn't have all the music

I love this game but this US revision B is crap.
It lacks all the music of Junko Tamyia san that exists on japanese boards versions.
Why are you playing with the older ROM set instead of the newer one with the music fix?
How to activate 60fps?
