    Weird. In every other video, and in my experience, the Creamback 75 has more mid bite than the Green 30, but in this video the result is the opposite with the Cream sounding scooped. All depends on the amp, cab, settings etc. Also, with all due respect, the levels in this video were not right. The Cream is a much louder speaker but here the Cream clips were quieter.

      I've never heard a creamback sound so bad myself, not quite sure what was going on here. Sounded like the greenback was in a closed cab and the creamback was a narrow open back amp, maybe just too small of an amp to drive the creamback. I totally agree with your comment. 😉👍

  • @adamwatson6916
    @adamwatson6916 6 лет назад +1

    which is better depends greatly on the amp . I find greenbacks are to loose on the low end in open backs cabs and combos but sound killer in closed backs. h magnet speakers are better in open backs as the h magnet has tighter low end and open backs have a looser low end did they compliment each other. h magnet speakers can sometimes have to much bass and sound boxy on closed backs. I also don't like greenbacks when the guitar has alnico 2 based pickups because the low-end can get fatty but they sound killer with alnico 5 based pickups . I like to use h speakers with alnico 2 based pickups . alnico 2 based pickups have a spongy low end so the tight low end of the h speakers compliment them well. the h speaker and alnico 2 based pickups are my favorite combo just enough low end with the right amount of tightness. you really have to consider the whole chain when choosing speakers..

      @@zaloraltest Cool, thanks for the info. I understand your choice for a comparison, but I think it makes especially the Creamback very harsh and thin. I would consider placing the mic 1/3rd towards the edge, from the center. That might simulate a more realistic working situation with a more balanced sound, so perhaps a fairer comparison. I love both speakers, but I'm used to the Creamback sounding a lot warmer, and aiming a 57 straight on the center isn't a very common choice, this theoretically gives you 100% of the edge/harshness and 0% of the smoothness/warmth.

    Brilliant video, tackling precisely the question I have. What speaker to use to replace the stock 70-80 on the DSL40C. From videos I've seen, I love the greenback. They seem full and cutting without being fizzy or harsh, but I'm after something with higher wattage. I was hoping it was the G12H-75, but after the video, not sure it's for me, seems closer to the 70-80 with fizz. Other videos, I've seen of G12M-65 sound muffled, over-taming the DSL40C. Need to find something bang on the greenback sweet spot, but with higher watts.

    Superb comparison. Both of them are good speaker with very different characteristic. With clean sound, Greenback sounds loose and trebly. Creamback is tighter, more mid, smooth, and controlled. With crunch or lead, greenback becomes a little bit thicker and lose a bit of its treble. Overall, it still retains its trebly character. The creamback's mid becomes really prominence. How do you describe the character of these speakers in real life ??

      Nando Seiscuerdas the same speaker can sound completely different from on amp to another. its important to try and Match the circuit to the right speaker you really have to look at how you're amp is voiced . a greenback might not be a good choice if an amp is already voiced heavily towards the mids or is light on the low end. sometimes amp makers design the circuit with a specific speaker in mind so sometimes the best choice is a speaker that is not to radically different from the stock speaker. some manufacturers just use what's the most economical at times too though. creamback h75 is a great alternative to a v30. quite different but not radically so. same magnet same db dating both have alot of cut in the upper mids although with the creamback they are not as pronounced because the speaker is better balanced if an amp is not designed with a greenback in mind they may not work as well.

These days it’s more than easier to get great sound quality for not much money. I was doing some things old school because I’m 35 until a young 25 year old was like hey try this and it blew my mind. I was out of technology world and focused on just the old school bare tools. New tools, software, recording gear and more is so much cheaper, accurate and readily available to everyone and within budget of everyone. And you just buy little things at a time. And years ago this was not the case. For the most part a lot of artists record now from home, in the bathroom and wherever with today’s advancements. It doesn’t take an actual studio, a second mortgage, selling one of your kidneys or selling your first newborn.
      Again sorry if I stepped on your toes or sounded like an ass. Chin up and take a look around and you’ll find some great stuff.
      Btw I checked out your other videos and your a great player and seem like a genuine cool guy. Keep it up 👍

      Lyric Klein don't worry, I wasn't offended, mine was a joke.
      I think that professional recordings are especially useful for those looking for a professional sound. But the vast majority of musicians play by passion, and when they record the sound they hear is like the one I propose: homemade and imperfect.
      Often it happens to buy a pedal hear it on its web site and then be disappointed hearing it play live at home.
      Maybe I'll have to change the name of my channel with: "gear test for dummies" ... 😂
