    If i remember correctly, when in command center you assign the ext amp and the tip/ring you also have "latch" type of switch and another one (i don't remember how is called). I tried using the amp channel with the preset and solved that issue with the "stay dirt" or "stay clean" thing when switching to 2 preset that uses the same amp channel: you should first NOT choose the "latch" type, but the other one, then reserv a stomp in stomp mode with "turned on" ext amp on dirt presets, and the same but "turned off" in the clean presets. That means that when changing presets the Helix will check if the stomp is still turned on or off, and send the switch channel signal only when it sees a change in state of that stomp. (so from dirt to dirt it will not change channel because the stomp is still turned on, while from dirt to clean it will switch the channel because the stomp goes from turned on to turned off).
    You should check if you amp supports only latch switches or also other type, this method works only if the amp supports also the other type of switch.
    Hope this is understandable, my english is not that perfect, lol

      So yes you are 100% correct. You can do it by dedicating one switch in pedal mode to the amp channel. However you cannot do it without dedicating that switch. Which I didn’t want to do as it would sacrifice a switch in pedal mode.
      But it’s not a big deal.

    • @nicolofaettini7458

      @@TheGuitarEffect you can still have 2 different effects on the same switch (one from the chain and the amp contro assigned from the command center) you won't ever need to press that if you use the preset banks and just switch these. At least, i use my helix fx in a Victory Kraken using 4 cable method and i don't have to use snapshots or go into pedal mode, it works just fine with presets :)

  • @lpel4821
    @lpel4821 3 года назад +1

    FWIW, with snapshots, it works. Selecting a snapshot sets the amp channel correctly, no matter what the previous state was. You can assign an amp channel to a snapshot from the HX Edit menu : Window / Command Center. Then select Command : Ext Amp and make your choice (tip or ring). Working this way it is recommended to set global settings snapshot mode to Latch. Then after you load a preset, press both bank switches simultaneously to keep the snapshots reachable at all time.
    The whole thing has ben designed poorly if you ask me.

      Hey. Thx for the comment. Yep I think I understand what you are saying but I don’t think it solves my problem.
      So all I can do is say send a relay on tap or ring. I can’t say make the tip or ring on or off (or set the state)
      Think if it like this.
      I’ve three snapshots
      Clean. Switch off
      Dirty. Switch on
      Lead. Switch on
      If I set the switch to send a relay when the lead preset is selected, it will when switching from clean but will actually switch back to the clean channel if I go from dirty to lead.
      Have I got that right?

    What if you forced your amp to be in the dirty channel first by using the amp's actual buttons, and then plugged in your hx effects unit and assigned the footswitch to the channel while it was dirty to begin with. Do you think that it would reverse the order with the light being off for the clean channel and on for the dirty channel?

    • @TheGuitarEffect

      Hey Matthew. Thx for the comment. So yes you need to use 4 cable method. So here is how you do it. Assuming you use FX loop 1 but you could use 1 or 2.
      1. Guitar to HX input
      2. FX loop 1 send to amp input
      3. FX Loop 1 return to amp effects send
      4. HX output 1 or 2 to amp effects return.
      Hope that helps.

    Hey! Do you still have the problem where if you go from a dirty preset to another, it will change channel to clean? Check out the HX demo series by Peach Guitars... it seems they can get the amp to stay in the channel you need it to be, even from dirty to dirty (or clean to clean).

    • @TheGuitarEffect
      @TheGuitarEffect  3 года назад

      Hey Jose. I’ve seen the peach series on the HX effects. (Love that channel) So he changes amp channel by dedicating a footswitch to that function. So therefor as I pointed out in my video you can simply go into pedal mode while you have that preset selected and change the channel to whether you want it on or off for that particular preset and then it will be set correctly from preset to preset. Great.
      However if you don’t want to sacrifice a footswitch in pedal mode and instead want to just select which channel you are on when you select a preset you can’t do that. You can only ask it to change the channel.
      I’m sorry it’s really hard to explain!!!!

      When you say external pedal do you mean like an overdrive or delay pedal or something as opposed to an external footswitch? If so the answer is yes. In fact you could run two external pedals, an expression pedal and an amp switching jack simultaneously.

    • @TheGuitarEffect
      @TheGuitarEffect  3 года назад

      Hey Aaron. That’s actually quite complicated. I’m not familiar with the katana unfortunately but It’s seems that the Katana’s channels can be controlled with a 2 button footswitch according to this video.
      ruclips.net/video/XYm0Wf4Z0Ao/видео.html
