مبدع great job i just bought sienna for work and the check engine light came on with that code am about to buy the parts and do it my self thank you brother
Good luck bro. Thank you for watching and I do appreciate your comment. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Dump a gallon of lacquer thinner in your gas tank and drive it. That normally clears the code for about 2,000-5,000 miles. Also when the light comes on your catalytic converter is still operating at 95% efficiency. These Siennas are very sensitive to throwing these codes. Get spacers for the oxygen sensors at $15 and install them and this normally solves the problem.
I get this code every couple thousand miles, and just reset it. Should I do a pressure test on the Cat before installing spacers??
@@biglefty08 personally I would not. I installed spacers and that was 10,000 miles ago. The code has not come back yet and probably won’t. I’ll still put a gallon of lacquer thinner in every 30,000 just to keep my cat clear
Great job man
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great job. Thank you for sharing
Always clean off rust rings b4 reassembling new gaskets or you will risk leaks down the road
Where did you order the oem cat from
I have a 2004 seinna CE and I am getting p0430 code for bank 2. I replaced both 02 sensors and still getting the light but it comes on thousand or more miles later after replacing both 02 sensor. Does this mean for sure it is the catalytic converter?
Thank you for your time and your video is very helpful.
Only Toyota OEM O2 sensor are recommended, use other o2 sensor will definitely not work.
Most likely it’s your Cat/converter
Would this code cause my 06 Toyota sienna to over heat
I have the same van p0430, I replaced the converter and sell code, replaced the oxygen sensors same problem. B2 s2 is always showing . 0.7v+ at all times.
Change the spark plugs behing the engine to fix the PO430 i found out the the hard way after pouring 2k on sensors and muflers and alot more items
The main reason Cat/Converter go bad is bc of a bad tune up. So I always recommend a full tune up before a Job like that.
What 2 bolts did you use for the bottom hooking up to the exhaust because original has studs and nuts
Thanks
The new Cat doesn’t come with the studs so I used couple of old bolts I had laying around. Thank you for watching and I do appreciate your question and feed back.
Also do you happen to know the torque
@@a2zautomasters862 so the holes are threaded and what would the torque be?
For the Catalytic Convert this for bank 1 rear Catalytic Converter does it matter if it is an AWD or FWD Catalytic Converter
The back one might be shaped definitely for AWD. Not 100% sure. Has to be looked up with vin#.

You cannot change just the sensor, we see it on the right, right?
DO you have the part list numbers you have changed.
What great you suggest for the sensor?
The problem should be diagnose right first to make sure what’s the actual problem is but if you changing the Cat/converter we always recommend change the sensors too. That’s how we get full warranty on converter. Denso is the brand to go. 234-9012 is top rear. 234-9042 is top front. 234-4168 is bottom front and 234-4512 is down rear.
@@a2zautomasters862 I thought it was one sensor (maybe i need to re watch the video...lol)....are all these should be bought?
Show the part numbers well if you have them plz. People trying to fix the same car will need and appreciate part numbers on the screen or in the comments. Thanks.
@ 5:15 parts #’s are already showing. Make sure you watch the whole video so you wouldn’t miss any information. Thank you.
What's the part denso part #?
Wow he really made this look like an easy job, ….however, because he also replaced the sensors it’s possible that replacing the catalytic converter may not have been necessary…..the code could have been caused by only 1 of the 3 parts being replaced and I have found it extremely rare for both sensors AND the converter to all have failed at the exact same time. This is a classic case of not diagnosing / troubleshooting and just throwing parts/$$ at the problem. Always bring your car to a diagnostic technician before going to a mechanic.
Thank you for your comment and I appreciate you watching my videos. That particular car was checked and diagnosed and the problem was the Catalytic converter however to get full warranty on Cat/converter we’re required to change O2 sensors on that exact Cat. I’m not just a mechanic I’m an educated tech and we have up to date state of the art equipment. We definitely don’t guess here.
cuz he has a hoist and a shop
I live in a state that does not have any smog testing so if you have PO430 on a sienna is this really an issue or just keep driving. Please advise, thanks.
You don’t have to change it right away. I have seen ppl drive with them for years. Unless it gets clogged, then you will lose power and car wouldn’t drive as well.
@@a2zautomasters862 how you can prevent clogging? Just found out my Sienna have that issue and we aren't able to fix it or buy another car. Thanks for the vid!!
@@DulceMariaOfficial the short answer is clogging usually happens because of a bad tune up. Make sure tune up is done on time. Thank you for watching
@@a2zautomasters862 oil and filter has to be changed on time any other thing? Like for example coolant, Air filter, etc.... thanks for your help!
@@DulceMariaOfficial spark plugs, air filter, cabin filter and fuel filter if it’s not part of the fuel pump. That’s tune up. Coolant flush, power steering fluid flush, brake fluid flush, transmission service and rear differential service for AWD models. That’s preventive maintenance.
Did that fix your P0430 problem?
Yes it did. Never came back.
Whats the number of the cat?
what kind of impact wrench is that
That’s a SnapOn 3/8 drive power ratchet.
How did you confirm the cat is actually bad? A lot of tines it isn't the cat, it's another issue upstream
You have to make sure the car got a good tune up first. It’s the first thing to kill a Cat.
I’m working on a 03 Camry with a v6 and it is popping a p0430 code. The car can go faster then 65-70.
That’s because the cat/converter is clogged.
Excuse me , I have the p0430 in my Toyota Sienna, I already changed Catalytic Converter, I check the oxygen sensor an it's good i also erased the code, but on the next day i checked an it appeared again, what would it be?
Ok so P0430 is bank 2. The Cat/ Converter in the front just like the video, Did you change that? And which O2 sensor did you change ?
@@a2zautomasters862 I only changed the Catalytic Converter bank 2, the sensor it's good, but it still showing the code
@@cougarjimenez4549 how did you check the O2 sensor? Most likely the down steam Sensor is no good.
@@a2zautomasters862 I will replace the Toyota OEM o2 sensor at the same time even it is expensive.
@@simontong2954 that’s the right way to do it. 👍🏻
how much does it cost to replace
Sorry for the late response. That converter was about $600 original from the dealer and labor was about $300.
@@a2zautomasters862 I am about to buy a 2006 Sienna with 126000 miles. it has no issues with the catalytic converter and passes smog tests in california. My question is, I heard these siennas have 3 cats, which is the most common one that has problems on this Sienna? is it the one that you replaced? I'm wondering if I should have mine replaced before it starts having issues.
Hey @@robertp9370 ! I can’t really say if one goes bad more than the other, it depends on how was the car maintained and when a tune up was done. The main cause of Cats going bad is bad tune up. The third and last cat usually is the last to go bad. I wouldn’t change any of them unless you have a check engine light was a code otherwise, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.
Hi, this is FWD or AWD?
AWD
Can you explain more about how you diagnosed a bad cat? Based off the code? If the cat was indeed bad theres no reason to change sensors.
Thank you for your question, I’ll try to make a video about O2 sensors and Cat operation because its a large topic, but for a quick tip. Most of time when you have a P0430 or P0420 cat efficiency code, it’s usually the Cat converter problem. A lot of manufacturers recommend changing the O2 sensors b4 and after that cat to get the full warranty, just in case they were damaged and might damage the new Cat.
Eurotecstylo thats like saying when you do your oil change you dont change your oil filter. Why would you have an old o2 sensor on a brand new catalytic converter doesnt make sense might as well change all in one shot
Do you know the part number is?
Parts # are in the video before the unboxing of parts.
Easy job and expensive parts in CA. I hate fxxxing CARB regulation.
I just find out I have both P0420 & P0430
Most likely you will need both cat/converter
