    why is acceleration -9.8? because the body is moving downwards it should be +9.8. like if you have the same doubt and explain if i am wrong

      Like he said, down/south is usually the negative direction so since gravity is pulling the person down, he's accelerating downwards. That's different from decelerating, which is the person slowing down. Accelerating downwards means that the person is falling farther each second in the negative direction. That's why gravity is -9.8m/s. The negative means going down, not slowing down.

    hey what about use Xf=Vi+at instead of Xf=Xi+Vit+at2/2?? i don't get the same answer

      frank ma the formula you quote is incorrect. It is supposed to be V=Vo+at

      Vf=Vi+at (if you use i instead of o)

      it's 7 years late but vo is initial velocity lol (so is vi, it's interchangeable)@@KM-zd6dq
