I was able to buy a pre-1964 model 70 chambered in 270. While I already had one in 30-06. I couldn't pass it up. $500 USD for a rifle that looks like new and is 64 years old.
Mine is about the same vintage. Ran the serial years ago. Either "51, '52, or '53 I think. .270 Win. "Field-Grade" , Leupold Vari-X-II 3x9. Leupold rings/mounts. Boyt "Camp Perry" sling. Dad brought it home in '62 the day my brother was born. Shoots groups tighter than Dick's hatband. Still have some of Dad's rounds he loaded with a Lyman "Nutcracker" in '65. It is THE most treasured item I own. The 24" barrel really helps it step out, too.

I also don't remember which one Carlos Hathcock used either... Either way, another neat historic rifle! I'm waiting to bring mine home, clean it up, and shoot a few rounds! Maybe change out the scope because the one that came with it has some terrible eye relief...
