    You could try using white vinegar in the fabric softener slot of your washer. This helps break down the detergent and rinse out easier. I do this for my washes and it seems to work well.

      Great tip! I started doing that, as well.

    Is there a specific brand of cloth wipes you'd recommend?

    • @ECpeesy

      I really like organic cotton flannel wipes (OsoCozy or Imse Vimse). 💜 Heidi

      @@ECpeesy Thanks Heidi. I was looking at the OsoCozy wipes but a lot of the negative reviews about them disintegrating easily (one review said with one wash) and bleeding color had me concerned. But you havent experienced those issues?

      @@monicalarose7980 No, we used them for years. They were natural coloured organic cotton with coloured thread around the edges, nothing really to bleed color.

    I’m not sold on the essembly diaper but that diaper bag is what I was envisioning as I was thinking of sewing my own.

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  3 года назад +1

      That would be a fun project to sew your own! Have you considered sewing diapers to? Are you planning to reuse ones you already have?

      @@ECpeesy yes and yes!
      Before I started RUclips I was testing a new diaper design specifically for EC or pottying in general. I still have the drawings and notes but decided to try growing a RUclips channel.

      @@KacangFamily Now I remember, you mentioned an EC diaper before. Excited to see what you come up with! We used some EC specific diapers with my daughter. This time around I kind of gave up, since they're so hard to get in the USA. There are more options in Europe.

      @@ECpeesy yup. That’s why I tried sewing my own. I need to get a sewing machine to make some test ones before baby #2. I told my hubs this baby is my diaper model tester.

    Did you keep using them as you moved on to size 2? Or, what do you prefer for larger babies?

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  Год назад

      We didn’t use size 2 Esembly. At that point I moved more to flats and Fixed Flats with wool wrap covers.

      Did you think these ran true to size? My daughter is 13lbs and 23.5 inches at 5.5 months old(shes little) and I just bought 6 medium cloth eez workhorses and find that even though she is only a pound away from the suggested range they are still very very loose but I also unstitched the soaker pad in it for easier wash and because my daughter is a very light wetter so doesn't need them to be that absorbant and that might be partially why they are looser. But I wanted to try some of these too and wasn't sure if I should get the size 1 or size 2 because it seems most people are in size 2s by her age so wasn't sure If they run small? Also haven't seen essembly in person yet but I'll likely unstitch their soaker as well and lay it in if she needs it. She's been a light wetter who cries for a change with even the tiniest dribble since birth so she goes through a lot of cloth without anything being soaked ever. Even cloth eez inserts on their own don't get soaked for her lol. I've been considering trying EC for a while now but the whole thing makes me nervous because I've never tried it before lol so I'm sizing up her diapers to things that would work for EC or potty training too if I decide to go for it. We mostly used prefolds so far mainly because I didn't want to spend more on cloth than I would in disposables for quickly outgrown sizes especially being in disposables part time anyways(husband's preference) but I like the fitteds for going coverless because it makes me feel just a little more secure now that shes moving more. We actually go coverless most of the time anyways and i use fleece pjs as the cover, i figure since nothings ever soaked i dont have to worry too much about leaks i just like the slight resistance from the jammies but looking at the disana leggings for winter since we will likely need bigger clothes by then anyhow.

    How many inners/outers diapers did you need for the first 4 months?

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  Год назад +1

      I personally use a lot of inners, since I change the diaper each time it is wet. In general it's recommended to have at least 24 inners, for washing every other day. I like to have 36-42 inners (not all Esembly) during the newborn stage. For outers (covers) I can get away with 4-6. I reuse the outer multiple times, unless it gets poop on it.💜 Heidi

    Can we use the inner without the diaper covers?

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  2 года назад +2

      You can. If you use the inner alone it will not be waterproof. You can use Esembly inners with a different brand of waterproof covers. The inners are basically "fitted diapers". 💜 Heidi

    Is it okay to bleach the inners?

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  2 года назад

      Yes! Esembly recommends adding bleach to the wash every so often to refresh the diapers.

    How are these while doing EC? I've personally never done EC (I don't have a baby yet.) But I can imagine taking two layers off could make things less convenient.

      I like to use fitted diapers without a cover at home. That’s convenient for EC. Then with a cover for going out. 💜 Heidi

    I washed my wool covers but they feel a bit sticky kind of. Are you supposed to rinse them after lanolizing? Or just let them air dry?

    • @nachummoshelemeshko3537
      @nachummoshelemeshko3537 3 года назад

      I'm worried i may have used too much lanolin maybe ? I'm not sure since it's my first time washing wool

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  3 года назад +1

      Sticky is good! No rinse, just air dry. The lanolin will get used up as the covers are worn. It's very moisturizing!
