You just saved my ass. Doing the exact vortec on the 1st gen block. Just put the comp camps in with the inners in it last night. I just ordered the LS ones you put in. Thank you.
86 c10, putting vortec heads, first gen block , thumper comp cam. Did you have to do a bypass on the coolant ports to keep the heads cool? The vortec heads don’t have the same port and blocks it. I saw someone drill some holes in the thermostat so some coolant still runs through when it’s closed.
@@keepit01 the thing with that is the water pump, if you're using the serpentine belt set up, make sure you use the vortec water pump. The belt routing turns the pump backwards or vice-versa. The fins on the pump are different then the v belt style. Just make sure your using the right pump with the right belt set up. I'm running an electric water pump. If you look at my last couple videos you'll see it on the stand.
I'm using a retro roller cam. It was alot cheaper. About 300 bucks cheaper. Only have to use the old school timing cover and cam button. .495 intake and .502 exhaust.
So the 50 thousands off set keepers will work w these oem retainers ? I’m putting a 485/485 isky cam but I’d like to use my new 1.6 roller tips I just paid $180 for to use them on the. Shitty 602 crate cam. 😠
The rockers I'm using are going to be the stock ones. With the 50 thousand offset keeper and cam I'm using I can't go with 1.6. The stock rockers are vortec 1.52 old school small blocks run 1.5. The 1.52 give just a little more lift, another reason vortec heads flow so go
Piss cutter is a genius with all these vortec engines and Ls stuff check him out. He said w the 50 thousand off set keepers u can run a 550” lift
I'm subscribed to piss cutter. He is a genius.

Great thanks for the info. I’m still running the old school belt set up, no serpentine.
Mind blown 🤯 some good pieces i those cars that no one one would even know. I’d use these in t 602 crate engine hobby stock
