    Great video. Wish I watched this before I used my G5 in anger in a 36 hole Major comp today!! The hazard feature !!! Bugger and that was the main reason I chose this watch. Ho hum. All sorted for next week now! Good work

    Excellent tutorial. I noticed that the backlight was on all the time. When I use mine, the backlight goes off after a few seconds. How can I set the backlight on?

    • @AndysGolfBlog
      @AndysGolfBlog  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks Brian - appreciate the kind words. The backlight can’t be adjusted. It’ll automatically turn off after a few seconds. It was likely just because of the lighting outside that it appeared to stay on, and also because it was constantly interacting with the watch. Mine, like yours, will only stay on for around 5 seconds unless buttons are constantly being pressed. To be honest, I’ve never had an issue with the brightness as I feel it works really well in all lighting conditions, but a setting whereby the user could increase this to say 10/15 seconds would be useful.

    Thank you for this very helpful video. I just want to confirm, I think (I'm really pathetic technically).......if I disable the scorecard, will the watch automatically move to the next hole as I move on to it or do I have to advance the watch manually? Thanks for your help on this.

    • @AndysGolfBlog
      @AndysGolfBlog  3 месяца назад +1

      Hey Terri - thanks for the kind words. The watch will (or should) manually move to the next hole once you leave the green and get you the next tee. It will automatically change after you enter your score, if scoring is enabled. If it’s not enabled, it should have changed by the time you reach the tee. If not, you can always advance it automatically by changing holes, but you shouldn’t have to do that. Hope this helps!

    What happened at 14:15? Went from 353 yard p4 then when you switched to the hazards it went 366, 400 and farther?! Then the layup confused me also with 150/412 and 100/386, is that hit the first and have the second left? On a p4 353 yard hole?

      Hey there. This is just because I was creating this tutorial from my garden, not at the golf course. I live across the road from my course, so I'm able to obtain a connection and create these videos from my garden. The slightly wonky numbers are simply due to my location relative to some of the holes. for example, my house is located behind the 1st and 2nd holes, so things like yardages to front/back or hazards would be back to front. The tutorial is more about just showing how the watch works and how users can navigate the menus.
      Absolutely no issues with the G5 numbers when used on the course - as explained in my separate full review video (also on my channel).
      Hope that explains things! :)

    We use red markers for ladies to tee off, there are no options for colour red?

    • @AndysGolfBlog
      @AndysGolfBlog  2 месяца назад

      Hey Claire,
      With the G5, it shouldn't really make a difference which tees you select as long as your course has been mapped. If you do want Shot Scope to add a red tee set, email support@shotscope.com and provide them with the name of your course and further information. Cheers

    Andy, I really enjoyed the video, very well presented and explained. I have a couple of questions: firstly how easy is it to read the screen in sunny weather and secondly using the option to correct a score on a hole. Could I actually use that to add each shot on as I take them? Best regards, Mary

    • @AndysGolfBlog
      @AndysGolfBlog  11 месяцев назад

      Hey Mary - thanks so much for not only taking the time to watch the video but for being really kind about it - very much appreciated.
      I find the screen more than suitable when used in the sun. Some users have mentioned that they don't feel the Shot Scope device screens are bright enough but in truth, I've never felt this way. I've always found them to be fine to read in the sunlight or darker conditions (of which we experience many here in Scotland) - and the G5 is no different.
      With regards to the scorecard - you record you score at the end of the hole once you have completed it but can go back and change it anytime during the round if need be. You can't update your score shot-by-shot, no. Once you've finished your round your score will be shown on the screen until you fully return to the main watch screen. If you'd like to track your shots and get access to all of your previous rounds/performance data, then the Shot Scope X5 (bit.ly/3KJuCTv) might be a better option. It's £279 but only £237 if you use my 15% code 'ANDYSGOLF' at checkout.
      This code can't be used on the G5 but if you're only after a top-quality GPS watch which you can customise to look how you want it and get access to those all-important hazard and distance details on the golf course, the G5 is a steal at only £150: bit.ly/3JQ35zo
      Finally, just remember that if you buy directly from Shot Scope then you get a 30-day money-back offer so can always return if you try it out but it's not what you were after.
      Really hope this information has helped you, Mary.
      Thanks,
      Andy

    thanks for the tutorial, can you explain how you made your own course, I would like to make my own winter greens course.

    • @AndysGolfBlog
      @AndysGolfBlog  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Albert. You can't make your own course as such. I created my own tee group because when playing a general play round from out white tees, one of the holes has to be played from the yellows for insurance purposes, so it becomes a par 4 instead of a 5. This means that I can track rounds from the full white tees in medals (with that hole a par 5) and when playing a general non-competitive round, it switch to the purple tee group so that every tee is white except that one which is yellow and a par 4.
      This doesn't alter the positioning of the winter tees/greens. I'd suggest contacting Shot Scope to see if they can produce a winter map of your course but I suspect that won't be possible unless the Google Maps image they use for your course happened to be captured when the winter greens were cut into the fairway. Without these being visible, Shot Scope will have no way of working out where the greens are or how big their are in terms of size.
      Does that make sense? Check out how to contact them using this video: ruclips.net/video/o2DyFQe9_DQ/видео.html

      If it’s on that watch then that’s all you should have to worry about. However, you should also be able to subscribe to the course and roll out updates to your device. If you’ve checked within the app and it’s not there (in neither courses or subscribed) then best to contact shot scope to ask if they can look into it.

    How do you upload a round

    • @AndysGolfBlog
      @AndysGolfBlog  11 месяцев назад +1

      You don’t with the G5. It’s for on course usage only, not performance tracking. The x5 allows that sort of thing. The scorecard feature isn’t retained by the watch and is solely for use during your round or to check your scorecard against before you fully end your round.

      Thanks for the comment. I can't say this is the same experience I've had using the G5, having tested it over a period of several months. Sometimes, the bluetooth connection between Shot Scope watches and the app can be a bit troublesome, but it's usually easily resolved.
      If you or anyone else is struggling getting their Shot Scope watch to connect to the app, try this:
      1. Log out of the Shot Scope app and close it down.
      2. From your mobile device's Bluetooth settings, select the watch and use the 'Forget this device' option (that's for IOS but Android users will have a similar option).
      3. Launch and log into the Shot Scope app.
      4. Choose More > Add New Device > Watches and select your device.
      5. Press 'Continue' and proceed with the onboarding process.
      6. Return to 'Rounds' and choose Connect Device.
      If your watch did only last one round and had an issue, I'm sure Shot Scope were or would be more than happy to assist or refund. I don't think it's fair to call it a crap watch as the watch itself is actually a really solid and affordable option, packed with a lot of useful features, especially at that price.
      Anyway, you're only going by your own experience but hope that the above steps help you or anyone else experiencing issues out.
      Cheers,
      Andy
