How come you move your whole hand over to bring the Q Tip for right side English then on the other shot you just move the Q-tip over to the right hand side English and keep your hand where it was? Thanks for your time
he's using something called deflection for both shots. one of them ends up kind of a masse deflection - when you use extreme english, you deflect the que ball off to an an angle at the side of the english. so extreme right spin (hit the ball on the right side, which throws it to the right) will deflect the que ball to the left. meaning that it won't shoot straight. but this causes a throw on the object ball according to the english as well. It's often used in cut shots to negate something but i forget the name. (when the que strikes the object and follows past it changing the angle) 1st shot - if you use this tactic here. and don't also add draw to it (causing a sort of back right spin. which curves the ball. a minor masse). then you just throw the object ball almost to the diamond and miss the pocket. so striking it low and having a different angle on his hand allows this double spin type masse. it's quite tricky to pull off properly. 2nd shot - He added extreme right spin. so he can either strike the ball right as it hits the wall. which causes a natural deflection of the cue ball to the left. so he adjusted it to look towards the right essentially causing even more deflection, but having the que ball still go towards a similar angle. If you are aiming straight, and then move the que after instead of your whole hand. you keep the spin and similar angle but it amplifies the deflection notably. so the que shoots a little more to the right as you aimed that way, but the added deflection kind of corrects it to still go straight in a sense. where moving your hand will change the direction your aiming but not increase deflection to compensate. If you notice in the 2nd shot, despite looking further right he still struck the nearly same spot he did the first time. but with extreme right english and he came off the rail spinning heavily and contacting the object ball putting it into the corner. This type of shot you can contact directly the rail and the ball at once or just to it's left and both means will make the shot. You need to know your own ques deflection for it though, and not something I'd suggest doing in a long shot without a fairly high degree of experience and/or practice.
