They are a rock band, but they have many good ballads. I think you may like The loneliest. The video clip is a mini movie. Beautiful. If you don't mind to listen music in different languages their songs in italian are bloody good. Try with the track "Torna a casa" with a video clip with more then 170 millions views. Nice reaction!

My take is that is about a past relationship that isn't healthy but is irresistible (my decline is so much better with you), and he knows he has to end it but "I'm so scared to give you up" cause he doesn't know what to do with "all this love".
Måneskin are amazing and versatile, they have amazing ballads and funny sexy songs and angry songs as well, welcome in this rabbit hole!

Thanks for your reaction and welcome to the rabbithole of Måneskin! You are so right when Damiano sings, you feel his emotions, he is a master in that 😄 There are songs in Italian that I did not understand hearing them the first time (because I’m Dutch) but I could not stop my tears when I hear his voice. I hope you do more reactions on Må. For example you can listen to the ballads Vent’Anni, Coraline, If not for you or Trastevere and off course they have made also more pop and rock songs which I also love (yes, all of them, they make very divers songs from angry, punk, ballad. energetic, beautiful, emotional, funny and live they are even better ❤️‍🔥) Looking forward to your next reaction on Måneskin!

Maneskin are one of the biggest rock bands of the moment. They are Italian and won the Eurovision Festival with the song Zitti e Buoni. If you have never followed them I recommend you follow the comments which will give you valid indications. Also watch many live performances where they gave great performances. They are very large in everything; personality, way of writing, way of playing and above all the voice of the singer which is out of category.

I envy you SO MUCH! You have listened to your first Måneskin song. And you have so much to look forward to. Måneskin are big and getting bigger for every song they release. Valentine is one of the five new songs that have been added to their latest album Rush!, from February this year (if I remember correctly). Start with those five (Honey, Valentine, The Driver, Trastevere and Off my face. Then continue with The Loneliest and Mammamia. After that - back in time to Zitti e Buoni and I wanna be your slave. And maybe you have heard Beggin?

You're right! This song is likely about the recent end of Damiano's (the singer) 7 year relationship with a woman he'd been with since he was a teenager. The "eating for two" line is a metaphor for pregnancy, either something that at some point he dreamed of and that now will never happen, or about a past pregnancy that she lost (likely due to her illnesses). It's full of grieving and full of anger, as the end of long relationships often are. "Valentine" is just another way to say "lover" (as in "Valentine's Day" - Day of the Lovers, based on the Roman Saint Valentine). It's like the relationship is over, but HE's not over it. He still clings to the memories, wishing that they could just embrace and combust instead of growing apart.

  • @randolphh8005

It’s about a past relationship that he lost.
“Valentine” may be a reference to Saint Valentine, Damiano grew up Catholic in Rome where St. Valentine is from, and where Valentines Day comes from. He often writes in metaphors, but English is not his first language. I think the “eating for two” is not a reference to pregnancy as it would be to an American English speaker. Just my thoughts, any other input is appreciated.
Nice reaction, I love the mood of the song.

"And dream of the day you were eating for two" it is a kind way of wishing motherhood to a woman
      Valantine is Coraline's counterpart.
In Coraline love saves - white astral ruclips.net/video/yRnxYhttJwA/видео.html
In Valantine too much love suffocates - black astral

I also can’t quite put a finger on what “eating for two” could mean, I’m not a native speaker but still pregnancy was the first thing that came to my mind. In a recent interview (a few days ago) he stated that he works with great songwriters who are “wizards of the English language” because his vocabulary is limited. Thus, I doubt that it was a mistake...🤔

    • @clelia7820
      @clelia7820 Год назад +5

No, Randolph. I think you are wrong. Or almost wrong.🥰 "Eating for two", also in my opinion, it doesn't refer to a pregnancy but to the eating problems that were also talked about in Coraline. The names change, but the protagonist is the same. Damiano's ex-girlfriend looks very much like the iconic protagonist of the Crepax comics, an iconic Italian symbol of femininity for decades. Which, in fact, is called Valentina.

Nice, thoughtful reaction. Personally, I like this song better than the ones they released earlier from the Rush album. This one is more like some of their compositions in Teatro d'ira, which I think shows off their style better. I found the earlier songs from Rush somewhat overproduced - I did like some of them, but was hoping the band would return to their roots, which they seem to be doing with Valentine. You can hear the influence of the traditional styles of Italian music, those little vocal runs and theatricality in the music, like they did in Coraline. That's something I've been wishing they'd do more of. It's part of what makes them unique and not just another group.

Alternano brani energici a ballade strepitose.

I don't know if it's right but I interpreted it as her getting pregnant and losing her child and the relationship had become suffering both when they could see each other and when they couldn't see each other and the only thing that kept them together was lust.
If you want to keep listening to Maneskin you should know that almost all the songs are about personal experiences but they are constructed to be read on a personal level. Everyone finds their own version in them that connects with their past on their own experiences.
I recommend The Loneliest (Official Video) and Coraline (Live from Sanremo) and also I'm Going Home (Official Video).
They are very versatile and this and the others I recommended are all Ballads and are just one side of them.
