How do you keep the car in frame (when you turn left and right) ? Do you set anchor points in prod or is there a way to lock that directly on the camera ? Thanks in advance !
In Insta360 studio on the desktop app, you set "Direction lock" then choose the direction and it locks it in relation to the camera. You may also need to occasionally set key frames in order to fine tune the result.
You may need to look at how you can mount it on a painted area of the car. I've no experience of mounting these cameras on a C8 so can't really comment. Good luck!
Unfortunately there's not much you can do about it once you're up to speed. Check your settings and enable Wind Noise Reduction to start with. I tend to record the sound either from inside the car with a RODE GOII or from the bumper and sync it in my editing software. Easy to do in something like DaVinci Resolve using "Align Clips -> Waveform".

This is truly amazing stuff! I still find these shots incredible and am amazed that every car RUclipsr or TV show doesn't use these impossible camera shots. That whole video game style video is on a whole other level.
The trouble with all these shots is there's more work in the post-production phase. Many car RUclipsrs are trying to get out as many videos as possible so avoid the extra overheads. Also, the quality of the footage is still quite limited. Even though the 360 camera is 5k, that's in total across both lenses. Once you reframe, it crops it down to a lower resolution - circa HD. I accept that compromise because 80% of our viewers are watching on mobile so it makes very little difference. I think we are one of the few, maybe the first, to really use the overcapture-reframe technique for in-car in the way that we do. So I think as the technology advances, we'll have the edge on fully exploiting it just through experience. Now, we just have to figure out how to get people to actually watch our current vlogs and not just the videos about how we make them 😆
@@sportzntouring as long as word gets out and people get to see this incredible, impossible camera footage you'll soon take off guaranteed! I have a couple of different mounts I am messing around with at the moment, the quality of suction seems to vary wildly and I’m hoping the Telesin 3m selfie stick provides support for the X3. We shall see…

I wouldn't like to comment on something I've not had any experience of. Do look at reviews of that product and research thoroughly. If the tip at the camera attachment point isn't small enough, then it will spill into the shot and leave artifacts in the image. If it's not rigid enough, you'll get bounce ruclips.net/user/shortsGHMAOJanTqM?si=OiD0iI2qu-7fOZd2 What GoPro do you have? Also, I wouldn't cut corners on this as it's a matter of safety. I do a fair amount of car vlogging and POV filming so would love to get this 360 camera, selfie stick and suction mounts. But add them all together and wow that's a lot of money for me to spend 😭
Before you go down that path, it's worth watching this update: ruclips.net/video/Y6C2s_aQSj4/видео.html It is all quite expensive still but there's Black Friday deals on right now so you may be able to get some of it cheaper right now. See the link in the pinned comment in that video. When I started out, I didn't buy it all at once, I spread it out over a while. Maybe that's an approach to consider?

All I can do is show you what I've used and how I've used it. I've bought many different items, wasted countless £$s and none worked, until I tried this approach and so far, I've not found a better option... I hope you find success with it. Please tell us what you learn.
Thank you! I've now updated my setup... ruclips.net/video/Y6C2s_aQSj4/видео.html But, with a single lens action camera like the 12, I'm not sure what results you'd get. The Selfie stick will be visible and very difficult to erase. I'm not sure what benefits you'd get from a setup like this.
im just letting people know that the suction cup sticks out like a sore thumb and you're only restricted to a certain angle without getting it in-shot the entire time. it is NOT invisible like the selfie stick. so with that being said you are very limited to what you can do. dont get me wrong its cool getting a certain angle or 2 with the mount but you are VERY limited as to what you can do in post production. to get super epic shots like insta360 site shows for the car mount, it is achieved almost entirely using the selfie stick. the site doesn't tell you that and doesn't let me leave a review so i can expose them so just letting yall know
Thanks for your comment, but I'm a little confused by it. The video doesn't show that the suction mounts are invisible by themselves, like the selfie stick. It shows how, because these specific mounts are low profile, it's easier to mask them in post and make them invisible. Did you watch the full video? Yes, adjustment is limited but that should be obvious from the rigidity of the clamp arrangement in the video. It's kinda the point, because it has a much lower risk of moving on either axis under load when driving. You can adjust the angle by moving the clamps further along the stick of course.
I've got two, but the one I use most now for the best results is the Insta360 Carbon Fibre one... See this video for the results: ruclips.net/video/Zu1aqQjteY8/видео.html
Can you have this attached to the rear and have the video showing the back of the car and have it pan left or right. Basically showing the back of the car and the pan over showing the side of the car
If the camera is behind the car, it cannot show the side of the car. Remember, the camera isn't moving. It can pan to show any angle from its fixed position, as shown at 7m 26s into this video: ruclips.net/video/hlMhrLT6q20/видео.html

Hey mate, nice tips. @4:25 do you have a link for the metal selfie stick? None of the plastic selfie sticks I have seem like they will accept the force of the clamp.
I've left the link to the original satisfied sick. The one I used actually has other issues, like the mounting point isn't think enough and leaves an artifact in the shot that's harder to erase. However, I now use the carbon fibre one. You do need to be careful not to overtighten the clamp but I've had no issues with it since. Thanks for watching.
@@sportzntouring very nice. I have also perfected this shot over the past 9 months myself. Can you connect a Motiontracking VR headset to the Insta360 for real-time third person driving? Been my dream to drive 3rd person IRL for years and the way this camera setup is mounted is nearly perfect. Just the pole needs to be extended longer and it's perfect.
The app can act like a virtual camera. You can export 3D footage and I believe this would work with most VR headsets... But only after the fact. There's a delay to the real time preview so it would not be advisable to attempt to drive an actual car using the love preview.

Just bought a insta 360 2x for recording legal street racing, I don't really need a third person view necessarily but I want to get good video of the person lined up next to me and in front of me or behind me if I win or lose. Do you think I could just mount the 360 on top of my car on a normal gecko triple mount and it would catch all of this, without needing a selfie stick. Or do they make short sturdy selfie sticks? Thanks for any help I appreciate it.
Possibly. You'll have to try it I'd say. Also, you'll have to see what the regs are on the track you're racing on. Some don't allow cameras unless they're clamped and/or tethered. I wouldn't risk it at very high speeds though, not without plenty of safe testing of the mount. This is why the roads are always empty in my videos with the camera on the outside. I have a question to ask you, I too try to shoot with my car with the insta360 ONE X2, but unfortunately once the videos in high speeds have only the rustle of the wind and that of the car little and (nothing) I have set the wind reduction in the options, but there is always no disturbance! I placed the camera in the same place as you, with the same suction cups! Is there a particular method that you use to reduce the wind with the Insta360? Thanks for your attention! See you soon!
Oh, thank you! And great question! In my earlier videos there was a lot of wind noise but my exhaust would mostly overpower it. These days, I use a secondary audio source. In this video I think the audio was from the Insta360 GO 2 I was using inside the car. Sometimes I use the Rode Wireless Go II which has on board recording in the transmitter so you don't need to use the receiver and can sync it up later in your editing software.

You may also need to occasionally set key frames in order to fine tune the result.

do you have any advice for mounting a selfie stick on a convertible c8 corvette. the window is almost vertical.
You may need to look at how you can mount it on a painted area of the car. I've no experience of mounting these cameras on a C8 so can't really comment. Good luck!

How do you get rid of or reduce the wind noise. I still want to hear the car, but the wind is too loud
I've got a huge update on that here: ruclips.net/video/Y6C2s_aQSj4/видео.html

It only gets better! I've got a huge update on this here: ruclips.net/video/Y6C2s_aQSj4/видео.html
You have mind blowing footage (love the headcam stuff too!) some of the greatest cars ever made and you and your son are naturals at talking in front of camera (I hate seeing pics of me or hearing voice recordings so I honestly don't believe I could ever do what you guys do. I've even got 3 kids that are forever trying to get me doing TikToks and other stuff but I just can't do it!) Just give it time and I'm positive it'll all work out.
@@davekennedy6315 wow! Thank you! That's some amazing feedback. We really appreciate it! 🙏
Truth is though, we've had to overcome those fears too! It's taken time to learn to relax in front of the camera. You can see it with me in the very early videos and with my son in his early videos on his channel.

I have a couple of different mounts I am messing around with at the moment, the quality of suction seems to vary wildly and I’m hoping the Telesin 3m selfie stick provides support for the X3. We shall see…
Do let us know how it goes. This next video features the mount I'm using the most now... It's not cheap, but it is very high quality: ruclips.net/video/Y6C2s_aQSj4/видео.html
What would be your best suggestion for a budget selfie stick to do the same sort of shot with a Go Pro?
Been looking at the Ulanzi 810mm stick?
Thanks
I wouldn't like to comment on something I've not had any experience of. Do look at reviews of that product and research thoroughly. If the tip at the camera attachment point isn't small enough, then it will spill into the shot and leave artifacts in the image. If it's not rigid enough, you'll get bounce ruclips.net/user/shortsGHMAOJanTqM?si=OiD0iI2qu-7fOZd2
What GoPro do you have?
Also, I wouldn't cut corners on this as it's a matter of safety. I talk about it in this video: ruclips.net/video/Y6C2s_aQSj4/видео.html (Which updates you on the video you've commented on).
I do a fair amount of car vlogging and POV filming so would love to get this 360 camera, selfie stick and suction mounts. But add them all together and wow that's a lot of money for me to spend 😭
Before you go down that path, it's worth watching this update: ruclips.net/video/Y6C2s_aQSj4/видео.html
It is all quite expensive still but there's Black Friday deals on right now so you may be able to get some of it cheaper right now. See the link in the pinned comment in that video.
When I started out, I didn't buy it all at once, I spread it out over a while. Maybe that's an approach to consider?
Love your channel guys 😍

Awesome video! Unfortunately I don't have Premier Pro, well I used to but it was super buggy on me, so I'm using a free video editing software at the moment called videoproc, any ideas how to mask the selfie stick and mounts out?
Sorry, no idea... But I've switched to DavInci Resolve Studio now... Not sure the free version of that has all the masking features but worth a look. The paid version has amazing masking... showcased in my next video.

I bought this setup but it was a foreign currency and the shipping was like $60.. hope this wasn’t a mistake.
All I can do is show you what I've used and how I've used it. I've bought many different items, wasted countless £$s and none worked, until I tried this approach and so far, I've not found a better option... I hope you find success with it. Please tell us what you learn.
Hey sir sick video do you think i can have a setup like that one but with a normal go pro hero12? If yes Where?
Thank you! I've now updated my setup...
ruclips.net/video/Y6C2s_aQSj4/видео.html
But, with a single lens action camera like the 12, I'm not sure what results you'd get.
What kind of selfie stick are you using? The insta 360 one is so flexible it's giving me a lot of sway in my footage

And, I've only ever gone to 60mph with my mounts. Safety first 👍

Hi, and congratulations on the video… beautiful cars and great footage!
@@sportzntouring Thanks friend for your quick help, I will try to follow your same system maybe I will be able to get a clearer sound from the videos of my car, which unfortunately the wind hides the sound of my (Porsche Cayman) ... maybe I will update you! Thanks again!

What if you have louvers please answer
Well, the mounting solution I've suggested might not work. Maybe you can fit it on the boot? I've used these suction mounts on glass, metal, plastic and carbon. You'll have to test on the surfaces you've got available to you.
Name of the new software that you used...Aclimotion ?????
Apple Motion 😁
Actually, you can now do this in Final Cut Pro too.

I cant see the link to the suction that stabilizes the stick.
I got these from a local UK supplier so put the product details in the description because my viewers are international. You'll just need to copy paste them into Google to find a supplier that ships to your country. Hope that helps.

Hey man, how do you get the wind noise down so much? I’m not finding an answer to wind cancellation
In this case I used the audio from the POV camera, from inside the car. I'm going to make an update video sharing this and other common questions soon.

Did you use insta360 studio to hide suction cups, or some other program?
What's shown in this video is Final Cut Pro or Apple motion... However, now I use DaVinci Resolve Studio.

Is there one that would hold my phone ?
I honestly don't know. I'm not sure that's a good idea either. You wouldn't be able to get this shot though as the stick would be visible. This only works because it's a 360°camera.
Great video. Do you have a link to a tutorial that goes in depth into the key frames and removal of the mount?

I was planning on doing the same thing but was wondering if it’s legal to mount it like this
In the UK, my understanding is that it mustn't extend more than 1metre beyond the rear bumper of the car. Anything more than a meter behind the bumper must be made more visible. Please check for yourself wherever you are.

can the suction mount rig be removed easily? as I want it to be used on rental cars
Yes, you just release the lever and they come off. Obviously, check they're safely attached to a clean surface when in use...
Goes without saying, use at your own risk.

Does the new setup mount rig work with the Extended Edition Selfie Stick new version or only with the old version? Thanks!!
Hey, thanks for watching! Yeah, I now use it more with the new version. You do have to take care not to over tighten the clamp however.
See it in use here:
ruclips.net/user/shorts5N-j459Ndgc?feature=share
@@sportzntouring great, thanks for the tip! I have another question, do you think the mount rig would fit in another surface different from glass? Im thinking about using on a Delorean, but it does not have enough space on back mirror, so it should "glu" on the back sunshade of fiber glass. Do you think it may not be safe? Thanks!
@@vitorzaninotto I've not tested it on that kind of surface. I'd be worried about it putting too much pressure on the fiberglass slats. I'm not even 100% sure how it would do on the stainless... Unfortunately, I've got no way to test it for you... But it would do better on the roof than on the fiber glass... You'll just need to look at how far to extend it (it might end up looking like the lightening hook from the first B2TF movie 😁). I wish I could help more but I've only ever mounted it on smooth surfaces like glass and gloss paints. All you can do with these things is test them out. Maybe get one of the suction mounts and test it out?
@@sportzntouring agreed! As I dont have the pieces yet I have no idea of the weights. I´ll buy and make some tests. Thanks for your great videos and tips
