What is Drop Dead Fred about?
Starring Phoebe Cates, Rik Mayall, Bridget Fonda and Carrie Fisher, Drop Dead Fred is a hilarious comedy about a young woman who suddenly finds herself reunited with an old "friend". When Elizabeth (Cates) returns to her mother's home after her marriage breaks up, she recreates her imaginary childhood friend, Fred (Mayall), to escape from the trauma of losing her husband and her job. In between the chaos and mayhem that Fred creates, Elizabeth desperately attempts to win back her husband and return to normality, with comical results.

"You are crazy in the most wonderful way!" is actually very romantic.
To act like someone invisible is holding your hand and controlling your movements whilst trying to fight against them and pretend like nothing is happening takes a unique talent. To pretend that the person controlling your movements is Rik Mayall of all people is on another level of skill.
Phoebe Cates absolutely nails it and it’s SO believable, this movie is incredibly underrated in so many ways. A true gem.
This scene had me in stitches as a kid. Also Phoebe Cates displays the despair of mental illness very well throughout this movie.

The morning that Rik Mayall died suddenly, Drop Dead Fred was on TV, that was around 8am British Time. Around lunchtime that day, Rik Mayall literally did Drop Dead.
I Still firmly believe that Rik was Silenced by poisoning which triggered a Heart Attack. He was a legitimate threat to the establishment and they couldn't silence him, even after the 1st Assassination attempt via the Quad Bike "Accident" in 1998.

I wonder why Elizabeth never told Mickey that Fred was actually the one that was making her do all the naughty stuff? I mean, he did already know about Fred and that he used to be Lizzy’s “imaginary” friend. So surely he would’ve believed her, if she had told him about it here.

Absolutely loved this movie when I was a kid hell I still love it to this day lol my dad and I been making puns from this movie since it came out and do the same with my son.
