If you are still a bit nervous about polishing your own car for the first time...pick up some junk panels from a body shop and practice. Many of my viewers here will attest to its importance.
Going to put on a red pad and just spread some Meguiars Hi Tech Yellow wax on my hood to practice. It is totally decontaminated and very smooth and shiny like glass, so no need for a more aggressive pad I have learned....Great idea about the junk panels to practice. I am going to get a few. I have a ton of experience with the old orbital buffers, but this is definitely different.
Getting some test hoods is definitely on my list as I want to learn to do more than just enhancements and those are pretty hard to mess up with a dual action polisher. Got my Rupes Duetto polisher in the mail today and can’t wait to see what it can do in terms of cutting on some test hoods. Thanks again Brian for sharing all of your knowledge to us at no cost. You truly are a blessing and I can’t thank you enough for what you do! Happy Thanksgiving and I hope you enjoy some time off as it’s well deserved.
Your videos have allowed me to do some polishing on my 03 Z06. I have a rotary polisher i dont use, the 6" DA serves me well, Chemical Guys V series and Hex Logic pads, im very happy with my 16 year old Torch Red paint, thanks for great videos
It's nice to see demos not only on hoods which are easy to polish surfaces but on edges surfaces as well. I hope we'll see others like this in the future. Thanks!
Thanks for showing how to polish the more intricate areas. That's the scariest part of polishing, and most youtubers tend to just show polishing the flat parts which anyone can do without messing up.
Hey Brian thanks for the explanation of appling pressure. I was very confused before I watched this video. I recently got the Topvork DA off of Amazon for 78 bucks. Did my very first polish on my ride a few months ago. I can definitely noticed the difference in the shine. I didnt apply too much pressure but I felt I had the speed too high. Thanks again for this excellent video mang! Happy Thanks giving. Hope you and your family have a good one!
Another great video man!! One of the best RUclips channels on detailing cars by far, I go back if I’m not to sure about something when doing a vehicle!!! Keep them coming
hey brian thank you so much for your valuable time and experience i almost watched every paint correction video you have on youtube i sure am learned a lot from you you are one of the best teacher here on youtube when it comes to auto detailing i can't even imagine how much time and money you saved me by trying to find out all this info and skills my own
Thank you for another terrific video Brian. Great tip about not wiping (w/ IP, etc) residue off panel immediately after polishing due to expansion. Never thought about that point.
Ed: can you give us an update on your G9 polisher, in terms of vibration or any stalling issues on side panels. Re> 6.5 pad size. Congratulations on your new polisher.
You, Sir, are a very good teacher. It would be an absolute dream to attend one of your classes but I live in Europe and it is not possible for me. So this informative type of viceos is the next best thing. This is really helpful and all the tips and tricks are appriciated for me as a beginner. I have learned a lot here.
Very informative! Thanks! Those people that where those t-shirts are the people you answered my mail call about. They apply like 5 coats of ceramic coating in their platinum package.
Another great video. I bought a G9 but was struggling on some of the curved and smaller and curved areas on the car. Just ordered a 3" that will be here Sunday so I can finish up.
That was great Brian, could you please show your technique and steps on areas that you can’t get to by machine but only by hand? Happy thanksgiving my friend 😊
Another great video and excellent job explaining everything in full detail. Hope you and everyone around you and all the subscribers have a great thanksgiving.
Great video on the fundementals! I was just preaching some of this on the last job we did! Thx to you for always keeping the technique and insight flowing in your videos! Takes alot of guess work out for the new people getting started and serves as a reminder to the experienced! Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving Brian to you, your family and ALL the people subscribed to your channel! I had to sneak away from the dinner table to my garage for a lil while to do a panel or two with my new G9! lol I am like a kid at Xmas with his new toy!
As a driveway, family car detailer I cant (right now) justify a dedicated 3in polisher. My workaround is a 3in attachment with backplate for my drill. Essentially turning my drill into a small rotary for those tough areas. I also use a set of chemical guys hand foam applicators that work well for those harder areas, or just a quick fine tune.
Well said Brian as far as removing texture. A little maybe but over 10-20% I'd be very weary, sometimes it's in the basecoat and primer too. I hate texture but dead flat paint that gets swirls you could spot the swirls from the planet Mars
I have used the lake country BLUE hybrid pads. Made good corrections. Then topped with Qp-on 2.O. want to pick up some euro 50/50 pads for my arsenal. Jp in SD.
I see in the description you say with experience you mainly use a "forced orbital polisher." Is that what the old style polishers from years ago are? Oh and thanks for all the help. So grateful for all you do to help us. Happy Thanksgiving!!
Good Morning Brian, really appreciate your videos learning a lot. Is there other detailing professionals you can recommend to watch as well. Happy Thanksgiving.
Probably getting ready for a ice storm for. And sat. Then 6plus inches of snow and 40-50mph winds. Good thing I DETAILED MY JOHN DEERE. happy Thanksgiving BRYAN AND SISSY AND FAMILY.
Yea, though I polish in the valley of the shadow of a peak I shall fear no burn through for thou art with me (sometimes I can't help myself!) Happy Thanksgiving Brian! I hope you guys are actually taking the day off to over eat and watch some mediocre football!
@Apex Detail Did you see that Harbor Freight just released a Bauer 20mm throw LHR21 knock off? I picked one up with their 15% no exclusions coupon for $85. (Regularly $99). I'd be interested in seeing a tear down - looks like a Maxshine to me at first glance.
Scratch that. It looks identical to the Powerbuilt 240053 sold on amazon for 79.99. Though it looks like its rated at 7.5 amps from HF. Seems to be a capable tool so far. Not sure the longevity of it though.
Amazing video, been waiting for this one for a while. QQ what is the speed range in the rupes... 1 to 6? Also what would be the pad + compound combinations for hard clear coat, say BMW clear coat? Finally, how about speed setting, arms speed and pressure? Thanks!
Just to clarify, you are recommending not to remove the “texture”, but if a clay, is this a completely different type of removal? Go easy on me Brian, I’m still learning about all of this. Thx 🥴
to u brian and your loved ones.....and to ALL THE APEX COMMUNITY FAMILIES.....have a gobble gobble day with your families and loved ones....be well and safe y'all
Brian you seem to always make me laugh out loud even though you’re just giving sound advice. For instance. If you see someone with a t shirt that reads Paint Slayer. Run like hell. You don’t want to be a customer 👀

Clear coat savior, Happy Turkey day

As always brian. Great videos. Quality and precision. Good job. Happy Thanksgiving from deluxe auto detailing
You sir, are a treasure. The amount of time you devote to these vids is unbelievable. How you find the time is beyond me.
I just make time!🙂
It's nice to see demos not only on hoods which are easy to polish surfaces but on edges surfaces as well. I hope we'll see others like this in the future. Thanks!
Wow, knowledge and science applied to auto body care. Who'd have guessed it! Many thanks.
You explain technical things in a simple way that people like myself with some experience can understand. Thnx!
Thanks for showing how to polish the more intricate areas. That's the scariest part of polishing, and most youtubers tend to just show polishing the flat parts which anyone can do without messing up.
Gobble gobble. Happy holidays Apex family’s. Happy thanksgiving Brian. Stay safe
Great information regarding paint structure and behavior while correcting and polishing. Thanks for taking the time to make a great video!

I have been waiting for a video like this on the DA polisher! Just received my G9 from Griot's today in the mail!
Ed: can you give us an update on your G9 polisher, in terms of vibration or any stalling issues on side panels. Re> 6.5 pad size. Congratulations on your new polisher.
@@notfound-qg2ii Absolutely! I will report back to you with a review as soon as I get a chance to work with it a for a few hours.
Im a seasoned polisher and considering picking up a G9. I have long throws. I’d use a 5” backing plate with the G9.
@@edo-j1784 so where's the update

Great tips on the smaller polishers👍🏼👍🏼 they definitely have their place!!
Happy Thanksgiving . What a great tutorial video thank you so much for showing and teaching all of us.
If $$ isn’t in my “arsenal” budget could I put a 3” back plate on my 5” DA? Thank you Brian ....you are #1
HAPPY GOBBLIN 🍻
Can you explain the difference between uro 50/50 and hybrid blue wool pads ? Uses. Please.thank you.
Two totally different beasts. One I use to cut...One I use for one steps.
I have used the lake country BLUE hybrid pads. Made good corrections. Then topped with Qp-on 2.O. want to pick up some euro 50/50 pads for my arsenal. Jp in SD.

I meant a rotary polisher.
Paint Slayer with the pink t was the best. Still laughing after the third replay. Great information. Thank you and have a great Thanksgiving.
Is the white pad a Buff 'n Shine?
Always appreciate the tips. Thanks Brian.
Awesome Brian ✊Very knowledgeable informative video 💎Always learning from your videos.Happy Thanksgiving to you and junior 👍🏻

Yup harbor freight ones are great tfs buddy
Does paint really swell using your own dilution ratio of IPA and distilled water?
Probably getting ready for a ice storm for. And sat. Then 6plus inches of snow and 40-50mph winds. Good thing I DETAILED MY JOHN DEERE. happy Thanksgiving BRYAN AND SISSY AND FAMILY.

More on the rotary on curves and valley like this one
Happy holidays B!
Tons of great info
How does the throw of a polisher effect pressure and speed you should apply to the panel .
Longer throw...slightly lower speed for me.
As always awesome video and info, thanks sir
Amazing video, been waiting for this one for a while.
QQ what is the speed range in the rupes... 1 to 6?
Also what would be the pad + compound combinations for hard clear coat, say BMW clear coat?
Finally, how about speed setting, arms speed and pressure?
Thanks!
Between 3rd and 4th speed setting. 3D ACA 500 with any cutting pad,. arm speed 1 inch every second or 2.
Hi Brian, Great information as always. Do you always use an iPad or paint prep after correction?
Have a great Thanksgiving!
I do...but after the surface cools down after correction.
You're a master.
Happy Thanksgiving B!
6 mils is thin?
Is it possible to finish with 3d one with the white chemical guys pad?
absolutely.
Just to clarify, you are recommending not to remove the “texture”, but if a clay, is this a completely different type of removal? Go easy on me Brian, I’m still learning about all of this. Thx 🥴
Clay will not remove texture...only bonded contaminates.🙂

LOL you said "Paint slayer" 🤣🤣 that comment had me dying 😭😭
That hood gotta be Subaru paint!
Bingo!🙂
There is a common misconception that textured paint is only overspray from a previous car accident.
Prime example of paint being flat with no texture just look at your b pillars.
Lol...Paint Assassins!
Woah you using a rupes
6.4mils? 6.4mm? over half a centimetre? that can't be right
