Just to be clear, you were talking about, the full Fastback side panels, that include the lower cowl side panels and the door hinge mounting bulk heads in front, and also includes the outer rockers ? Please show us, the "waste" sections that were left over... That just seems to be a lot of money, to buy them, and cut them down like that.. Did you try to sell the unused sections? I'm sure you would have a use, for those pieces, with the volume you do in the the shop. But for the ambitious home enthusiast, how much could he make back, if he found someone to buy the unused pieces?
Ok yea you are correct, about the high cost of those sides, most of these cars are not built with the full sides but just notched and roof rail bent and rear built by hand but the easiest way is to buy the sides, you can buy the ones that you wend together yourself cheaper but still high at 1000+ and the part that is used from the sides is basically what wends to the top of the rocker at the door latch area to the full top section to where it welds at the roof behind the A pillar. So the waste is the full rocker, the A pillar and side cowl, it’s worth t to buy the pre welded section and just drill it out where you need and fit it right into place, it’s a lot off guesswork when building yourself and doing the weld it yourself kit. Time is money and it can take a lot of time doing it all by hand
Thanks for taking the time to show beginner's whats up. Bless you
Great information! Thanks
