I still recommend doing the Chameleon Stage first. His weapon works very well against the submarines at the beginning, and it only takes two seconds to backtrack into his level and get the heart tank after completing this stage. Also the mini bosses are very weak to the tornado weapon here.
@@SlothCrusher go to chameleon stage get the armor leave to storm eagle stage then flame mammoth then spark mandrill armadillo stage then launch octopus into boomer kuwnager finally going back to sting chameleon
@ctye85 Bah, ah well! Guess I never actually tried it. Could easily see myself finding super-rapid-firing at its head too bother to try experimenting with the weapons... XD
There's also another thing I can tell you about Launch Octopus, Pinky. If you attack him with a charged up Boomerang Cutter, you'll cut two of his limbs off and thus you can actually reduce the number of missles and bombs by half, thus making the battle a lot easier.
HORMING TORPEDO! Sting Chameleon is next, huh? It's gonna be a long one with the mini boss (whom I always thought was a transformed form of Auto) guarding the armour.
@chaosgreyblood The only problem with that is I find he gets a lot more spammy with the projectiles. I prefer him being able to use the twister move a lot as it gives me a free punish against him!
@CastlePokemetroid It is kind of like Lightnig Bolt from Mega Man & Bass (except that one is missing a letter instead of gaining one)... It is just that one screen that has the typo, so it is easy to over-look when the weapon demo is going on!
Your videos helped tremendously, my only criticism is you don’t go in the “Boss Order” so sometimes you get through levels or bosses with weapons those going through the boss order don’t yet have.
I'd bought a Super Nintendo at a used game store a month and a half or so ago, and MMX along with it. I was fortunate enough to be able to accomplish a No Deaths run of the game (although those gigantic vacuum things seen in this stage made me worry), but there's no way I could've managed a NO DEATHS run. I just don't have the reflexes for it. I'm glad someone's making a serious effort at it. Keep up the good work, PKR.
...I just thought of something. Launch Octopus's stage is almost nothing but minibosses...Blaze Heatnix's stage (MMX6) is almost nothing but minibosses...so is the former simply less scrappy (based on popular opinion) because the minibosses are easier? @NewZen41: What's the other one? I can't think of a few bosses for which it is definitely not worth using their weaknesses (Infinity Mijinion comes to mind), but I can't think of any that get harder from using the wrong weapon on them.
The minibosses in x6 appear in multiple different screens, its the same donut everytime, has annoying hitboxes in different parts of it and you still has to dodge lava to avoid dying In x1 theres one serving as teaching and another one to test you After that you have just the 2 serpents that are easy as fuck. Really no comparison i would say
@Lpoeser SORT of... They still wander about uselessly, and rather slowly, before finally finding their mark. Not the most useful things for speed-running, but at least they will eventually hit their mark.
@ctye85 I'm with ctye85 and Holoogamoonga, the sea-dragon can indeed be one hit KO'd by the storm tornado weapon. I've done it plenty of time in the past. It usually doesn't even get to turn around.
@ShadowdaHedgie11 Bob and George used the idea that it was a transformed Auto in the Cataclysm movies. I think he looks more like that Clown miniboss from Mega Man 7.
You can charge your special weapons in this game into different or more powerful attacks if you unlock the Buster Upgrade on Flame Mammoth's stage, or if you simply beat the 1st Sigma stage. It's a very cool addition, and the charged up versions can often have very interesting effects - for example, Chill Penguin's weapon normally fires an ice shard that splits into smaller shards when it hits an obstacle, but if you charge it up then it will create an ice platform that you can slide on like a skateboard, and it will damage all enemies in its path and keep sliding until it crashes into something. And Armored Armadillo's weapon normally fires a big orb that damages enemies, but if you charge it up then the orb will stay around Mega Man and protect him from a certain number of attacks.
At about 4:27 Pink...It kinda looks like you locked him into his spinning move for the rest of the fight...I don't know that was just RNG or maybe somehow manipulating his AI...If he has one. XD @niichihachi: Rolling Shield is his weakness however the weapon can easily get nullified if Launchy's missiles hit it...so it can be hard to time it properly unless you time it after he finishes his spinning suction move which is usually the best time to attack.
@iOniV2 They are right I've done it too, I was reading the text and disagreed what she said about storm tornado. I think storm tornado is the most useful weapon in the game I use that more then anything.
ha, i wasnt aware that this was an unconventional path through the game, so far this is exactly the same order i go in, then Khameleon, Kuwanger, Mandrill, and lastly Armadillo. dare to be different i guess.
Just as a random addendum to your video, Chameleon Sting is apparently epically good at taking out those submarines. If well positioned, it takes about six shots to kill them, and on top of that, the angles of the weapon will destroy any missile eels coming your way too.
What is launch octopus's weakness?I don't remember it, I just remember I had a hard time fighting him By the way nice job Can you show outtakes just like in the miss perfect runs?

Yeah that's a thing about the x series
The charged up Storm Tornado will actually completely wreck those serpents. You can finish them before they even get up out of the ground.

storm tornado really helped in this stage since it destroys most of launch octopus' ranged attacks
There's also the 2x hit damage glitch (when you fire and dash at the same time, the pea shooter deals the same amount of damage as a charged shot).

LV Ball Rolling Shield wrecks it

Correction to my previous post about Chameleon Sting. It takes nine shots, but that still goes by very quickly! =D
@UsaSatsui it's the same colour as Auto and it would make sense for one of Light's creations to be guarding the capsule. That's my reasoning.
That sound the miniboss makes, is that only on the SNES version? Because I never heard that sound on the X collection,
Launch Octopus, one of 2 bosses in the X-Series that actually gets harder when you use a specific weapon other than his first weakness against him.
thank you for the help as I just went back to playing this
