We are adopting an 8 yr old English rescue who appeared to be mistreated in the past. He will need daily meds to manage hip pain and deals with seizures at times. Bringing him into a quiet home to give him stability and attention. We recently lost our 11 yr. old Flat Coat Retriever who was Mr. Friendly and we hope our new English, Henry, will be just as much fun.

I just learned that my recently adopted “retriever mix” is actually 44.3% Llewellin Setter through dna testing. Everything in this video is my girl, especially the note about being stubborn lol.

I've got an English Setter from field lines that I hunt with. He doesn't shed too bad, but I'd imagine that the bench/shows lines with the longer feathering would shed a ton. His fur is very smooth and silky. Great dog, tons of personality and a lot of spirit but super gentle.

They have undercoat, but not a double coat -so yes, but not nearly as much as a Golden Retriever or Australian Shepherd. If you brush regularly and bathe at least every 2 weeks, the shedding isn’t overwhelming. The hair tends to sit on top of clothes, not sticking into the fabric. With one in the house I can get away with vacuuming once a week, but with 2 or 3 I need to do it twice a week.

      Not really

I have had a couple of them but they were field line rather than AKC bench the field lines have much less feathering my labs and shepherd cross dogs actually shed more but you definitely have to brush them consistently to avoid matting
