Might be biased on this, but I feel that Prosper should be higher on this list. It gives Rakdos ramp and temporary card advantage. Casually it is a blast and it may even have cEDH viability as a storm/ad naus/underworld breach deck.

@@billcypher564 well ya of coarse, but that description is far from Emrakul level power. Also the "devour whole worlds" statement everyone keeps using seems very out of line with what his actual power level seems like. I know hardly anything about D&D and even less about this particular monster but it just seems like that statement is really overblown, sorta like if hes left unchecked for an absurd amount of time he will of coarse eventually have killed everything. Like its just mythical exaggerated line to hype him up, because i havent personally seen anyone bring up any feats by actual encountered ones where they actually display that level of power. But again I can definitely be wrong.

@@MatthewCJoy Nah it's a pretty apt comparison if you're comparing The Tarrasque to the Eldrazi Titans that *we see* in Magic. You can't compare it to the unseen eldritch beings that are the Eldrazi in the blind eternities, but you can compare it to the manifestations we see, effectively being small parts of the greater whole titans. In that way The Tarrasque is similar, as without a concerted, cooperative effort between the most powerful beings on a plane or world; in much the same way the Eldrazi Titans' smaller physical manifestations would- The Tarrasque would also eventually consume all available life.

The Tarrasque also doesn't die, so it would have been more appropriate if it had a cheap Regenerate cost or when it dies it just goes seven from the top of your library. There were so many things missing from what defines The Tarrasque in this set that it is just a big ol' dinosaur with a Tarrasque picture and name slapped onto it.

I really feel minn is high A-low S tier honestly. After building the drck, there are a lot of ways to draw at least 2 per turn, even on your opponents turns. And if you pair it with sakashina/helm of the host, not only do you make multiple illusions each time you draw your second card, but you also get multiple triggers of the "put a permanent into play" effect as well, which can very easily spiral out of control. Not to mention the almost impossible to interract with combo with meloku and a sac outlet. All of this in a mono blue shell gives it tons of protection throigh counterspells, bounce spells, and unblockable to push your damage through, or lab man effects to just win since the main idea of the deck is "draw cards." Might be heavily biased, but after building and playing the deck, it works amazingly well

Delina so far is my favorite from this set. I want to make her work well with ETB and LTB triggers, combo that with Harmonic Prodigy and Strionic Resonator to add in more triggers with the dice rolling and extra value with Panharmonicon. Mirror March is another good card to use with her as well, getting copies of the tokens you make with it. Another cool theme to use her with is Seven Dwarves. Impact Tremors and the old Purphoros are also great additions to her synergy. I feel like "putting her in danger" is not a major downside since it can be pretty simple to protect her, even in mono-red (Swiftfoot Boots, Lightning Greaves, Whispersilk Cloak, Commander's Plate, Darksteel Plate, and Deflecting Swat). Extra combats are also very helpful in a deck like this, just to add in more value to her ability, so adding in Combat Celebrant and Moraug is very effective.

I feel like when it comes to Minn, it should be noted that Illusions are a tribe, so you don't need to rely on her as your only source of them. It's also worth mentioning that there are quite a few illusions that have incredible stats for their cost, but the drawback "when this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability, sacrifice it". Normally a massive drawback but Minn will make your opponent think twice before abusing it, since any illusion they kill could potentially transform into something far worse.

I have had a lot of fun with Delina, but yeah she is set back by the fact she has to be on the front lines to really take effect. She also relies too heavily on others to improve from being "a chance at something good" to "Deadly".
I built the deck around support for her but also taking control my opponents creatures. There is a bit of frustration when you not only see your cards turned against you but you watch as they multiply and destroy you. Or watch as your heavily equipped card jumps to the other side and starts giving away priceless equipment you picked for you.
These tricks are fun to play with but they do increase the target size on Delina making support for her just as important.

The moment I'd figured out how the dungeon mechanic worked, I told myself "Welp, might as well wait for the green card that lets you Venture on a creature ETB".
And then Varis was spoiled, and I was unhappily proven right. And then I read "When you cast" and "once per turn" and was happily surprised. Let's all be honest with ourselves here, green does NOT need to eat Venture alive like so many other things. We didn't need the ability to speed-run dungeons every turn by simply playing creatures like you'd do any other turn.
Frankly, I'm hoping to see more "once per turn" clauses on green stuff, just curb their nonsense.

Ok so the red dragon is a instant win condition in treasure decks...oh did you not know that? More so if you have gold dragon and old gnaw (the green dragon from this set) all you have to do is swing with old gawn out, then you get a bunch of treasure then spend 7 of it (of your treasure is worth 2 mana, if not its 14 of it witch is still easy)and boom you win

I love tiamat as a D&D player, but it's a C tier, funny to play, the problem with Tiamt it's the ETB+cast. If someone wanna play a 5 color dragon Commander play Ur dragon or Scion of Ur dragon

    • @klaiken989

I have to respectfully disagree with you 100%. Tiamat is a S tier commander. I am a MTG Arena player. However I have a 5 color Dragon deck that uses Tiamat and I can safely say that I bring the pain on a casual fun level AND competitive!
Just beat the other day a 5 color good stuff Jodah deck while they had a Omniscience enchantment in play...
I consistently will beat other top tier commander decks. Not a offshoot every now and then thing. The thing with Tiamat is you might have a relatively good idea what's coming. But supported with good graveyard recursion cards and board wipe spells such as crux of fate, ruinous ultimatum etc. In combination with Sarkhan planeswalkers, Fearsome Whelp, and Dragons shamans to reduce dragons cost to essentially 1-2 mana. Good luck!!!
Also good luck having/finding an answer for 6-12 threats coming your way. Not to mention each of those dragons individual abilities are usually game winning in and of themselves more times than not if not answered within a couple turns. There are ALOT of whiff 5 color dragons deck out there I'll admit. But go against the one built right and you'll find it is no joke whatsoever!
To be honest if I had access to Ur-Dragon. I'd still choose Tiamat for the simple reason that she is cheaper for one so you're going to more consistently have her in play than UR Dragon. 2# She is super helpful in filling your hand back up with super dangerous threats if your going against heavy removal, board wipe counter decks. 3# She gives you the opportunity to tutor for specific Dragons that you need for specific matchups. Her utility is amazing if built correctly!
Anyways, just my two cents on the matter

Yeah as she stands with a well tuned deck even if you disregard other sources of venturing it’s easy to get a creature a turn cycle. She’s like a 3 mana 3 color Meren that can reanimate any creature. Looters are going to be insane in this deck.

    • @dreamsmadeflesh1
      @dreamsmadeflesh1 3 года назад

She's busted if you can pull multiple dungeon ventures in one turn, or on enemy turns, which is possible but you need lots of mana and probably more discard effects, ltb effects, or better sack outlets than her precon. I only play casual myself but I doubt she could hold up in competitive, unless someone can prove me wrong.
